That picture of the Fillmore West reminds me of the many great /legendary shows I saw there as kid. Bill Graham put together 4 band bills every week that played Thurs-Sunday nights. Pretty much 52 weeks a year for several years. He had some AMAZING bills, out of the need to fill those 4 slots every week with a true headliner, a hot second bill and 2 opening acts. 5+ hours of great music for $2-$3. Great show? Go again!:) Magical time. Drove by there last week. SF Honda is in the building now.
Great Bloomfield album! Not super session-better, imoho. This is the semi-loose blues band he led after the Electric Flag fell apart and Mike did the studio and live 'Super Sessions' with Al. This is kinda like a blues-only version of the Flag or BBB without Paul. Perfect for the straight up blues that Mike was a master of. Versions of this group headlined the Fillmore West and other Bay Area venues around this time, maybe other cities (Fillmore East:?) too. Great great album. Loose but perfect
