I hardly consider this "among the worst sequels." Of all the Airport movies, this one is actually the best. I bought it on DVD, and enjoy watching it. Great for aviation buffs, but also just a great movie overall; a favorite from my childhood.
All four films were good. The first had a special magic, and while a certain cheesiness emerged in parts of the other films, we diehard Airport lovers will stand by them all.
I'm sure Helen Reddy was cast in the movie because, at that time, she had a number of songs on the music charts and Linda Blair was cast due to the prior year her signature role in The Exorcist.
I'm sorry, but it was at this point in the movie when I thought that the other plane crashing into this one couldn't come soon enough .. in fact it should have happened during the song !
Airport '75, is the best of the sequels (save Airplane, a parody). Action happens right away, whereas in Airport ('70), focus is the overall operation of an airport: a jet gets snowbound; Helen Hayes is found to be a stowaway; pilot (Dean Martin) is in love with attendant, Burt Lancaster and George Kennedy must keep things smooth. Eventually it does focus on the bomber with Helen Hayes' moment to shine - she won an Oscar for Sppting Actrss. However, Airport '75 is all action. Both are good.
Always loved this movie and most of Helen's music. But I think a nun singing this very humanistic song was a glaring oversight on the part of the screenwriters. I like her much better in "Pete's Dragon".
This movie has NEVER been considered among the "worst sequels".......EVER. When you hear people talk about Any of the "AIRPORT" movies--more times than not, they're either talking about "AIRPORT '75" or Referencing it somehow--(usually something about "Stewardess" Karen Black). But either way, "AIRPORT '75" was Never considered one of the "worst sequels".
Precisely. All three films that followed were good, albeit not direct sequels. (Joe Patroni was, I think, the only character who appeared in all of them.)
Haha. I was thinking the same thing. I thought she was going to say something to the effect that God is always on your side, and then she said be your own best friend. Hollywood does it again.
i love this song and i think the movie was pretty decent also. i like the plot of a small private plane, with the pilot having a heart attack, crashing into the cockpit of a 747 and killing or badly wounding all of the pilots and thus forcing the stewardess to take over control. of course, this movie came out during the height of the womens lib movement, thus the inclusion of helen reddy as a singing nun, and karen black should have had top billing, as she was the star, rather than chuck heston.
We've got an actress dressed as a nun, singing a song that teaches that you are your own best friend - pretty depressing in its own right, theology aside - and that you are to forgive yourself your own sins, like she does 🤔 The message of the song is warmly received by a child actress most famous for demonic possession and horror/slasher movies. They say truth is stranger than fiction, but in this case, I'm not so sure.
In the director's cut it shows Linda Blair critiquing Reddy's performance by levitating out of her stretcher and hurling projectile vomit all over Helen and her guitar.
Helen Reddy Playing a Nun??? After she married Jeff Wald and Converted to Judiaism.....Blahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah......LoLoLoLoLOLol
Airplane! Never forget.
Amen, sister.

My mom sent this to me. I'm going through a tough time in life and my mom has been there for me no matter what. ❤
Another stellar Aussie vocalist
R.I.P. Helen, we love you..
R.I. P. Helen Reddy. I will always remember seeing you at the Oregon State Fair in 1972. You were the best then, and you always will be.
So pretty!
R.I.P., Helen Reddy.
There's just no way I can watch this scene (or movie, for that matter) without being reminded of "Airplane!" at *every* turn ;)
I knooow.. lol... i kept waiting for the nun to knock out tubes and passengers to turn around with goofy smiles lol
Been too long since I’ve seen “Airplane.” Comedies for me do not rewatch well because it’s like listening to someone retell their jokes.
So true! 😅
Omg…this scene is SO cheesy yet so hilarious!!
I love all the Airport movies in the 1970's
I watched this movie and became a fan of Helen.
I love Helen's voice great singer!
Indded so....... What a unique voice, and a wonderful person.
Beautiful voice! The woman playing Linda Blairs mother, Nancy Olsen, is still alive at 92
I'm crying 🥹 she says that with the most angelical and comprehensive voice
great voice and great song
Agreed...just discovered this girl who reminds me of her a little:

ヘレン・レディとリンダ・ブレアが居るのか凄い。
I just adore this version. The other versions are a bit to jazzy for me.
Rest In Peace Ms Helen Reddy.
I'm a best friend to myself and I take myself out and celebrate milestones! Take Care of yourself! Love Airport!
All four films were good. The first had a special magic, and while a certain cheesiness emerged in parts of the other films, we diehard Airport lovers will stand by them all.
I travelled to the banks of the river of Jordan....!!!!

Why? Nuns aren’t human or know nothing of humanity? Please shut up, bigot! Also, the song choice is most likely not the screenwriters. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
This movie has NEVER been considered among the "worst sequels".......EVER.

...well, that was surreal

How come Sister Helen Ready is not singing "I am women" in this movie?
I thought nuns weren't supposed to be best friends to themselves, knowwhatImean?
Oh, I get it.......

I'm waiting for the moment when the guitar inadvertently rips the tube out of the little girl's arm.
TRAUMHAFT SCHÖN
Didn't it make more sense to ship the kidney to Linda Blair from LA to Washington instead of the other way around?
Let's see her loudly singing R-E-S-P-E-C-T to a jive talking brotha and making him violently ill

I don't think airlines had swivel chairs in first class for safety reasons.
Carrie
Im not Reeeagan...
This scene has forever been ruined by the brilliant parody in Airplane! lol
In the director's cut it shows Linda Blair critiquing Reddy's performance by levitating out of her stretcher
and hurling projectile vomit all over Helen and her guitar.
can you spell "homo"?
Airport 75 should have used Sister JANET MEAD instead.............LoL
You're right - That would have been a GOOD idea.
Helen Reddy Playing a Nun??? After she married Jeff Wald and Converted to Judiaism.....Blahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah......LoLoLoLoLOLol
WORST ... SONG ... EVER!
I can take it or leave it, but remember "Is That All There Is?" by Peggy Lee? Depressing!!!
