    As one of the 50+ female demographic I think your plans sound well...sound. I found my sense of adventure in my 50s and wanted to push myself off the sofa and out of my comfort zone. In the past couple of years I've done things I never would've imagined myself doing and I could kick myself that I didnt wake up sooner. This year I'll be wild camping in Scotland for the first time (never even regular camped before), kayaking, fishing and learning bushcraft skills. I've never done any of these things before and videos like yours are helping me learn. So I'll look forward to the future content, especially the little challenges. Happy adventures 😊

      Thank you, most appreciated. you may laugh but I felt the same way about telly during lockdown, I'd always been too busy before! Photography, Gym, Ballroom dancing, mountain biking, Cadets. When I was forced to sit down and watch the box during lockdown I realised what I had missed out on, and I had decades of great series to catch up on! :) Good luck with your first camp!

    I like all your ideas, excellent! As one of the 3 percent of ladies in my 50 ties, I found your how to videos really helpful. As I am going on overnighters with bike + tarp, I like the idea of micro-adventures in all weather conditions. Last remark: Don't forget your own trips over video shooting, its fun!!!

      Thank you. Yes, I've been really guilty of neglecting my own adventures, looking forward to getting back to it.

    It all sounds great! I realise my husband and I arent your regular demographic (66/73yrs, diabled) but we both really enjoy your videos. For one thing you are in the uk and another is that we are never too old to learn new things! All the best.

      Thank you, that kind of tells me the research I did holds up, you want to learn new things!

    Great ideas! I appreciate how deliberate and considered your ideas are. A couple thoughts: First, your explanations are great! Don’t feel like you need to cut them short; I never feel like you go on too long. Second, if you are a professional TH-camr and need to maximize your return to keep paying your bills, do what you need to do. But I think a lot of creators feel like they owe us viewers something, but you don’t. Make the content you enjoy making, and don’t let a self-imposed obligation to online viewers keep you from doing what you want to. Make fewer videos or skip weeks when it suits you - you make good videos, we’ll watch when you come back.

      Thank you. Yes, this isn't my day job (I'd be a lol thinner if it were). I do need to get back to finding some balance. That is me unfortunately, I throw myself into things, its a blessing and a curse!

    I'm almost 59 now and not as mobile as I used to be when it comes to my outdoor lifestyle. As you can probably imagine, I look for specific things I can relate to. I'm into hammock camping now...mainly DD hammocks, which are middle of the road, its no longer fun to fall in and out of a tent, when i can be much more comfortablein a hammock, decent quality and don't break the bank. Keeping dry and warm for a weekender is a must for me, without too much weight being carried in and out of camp, always stealthy, as permission land just isn't available so close to London. I ebike in and out, taking my kit on the bike as much as possible, so tend to look in particular for these things. Kit reviews are always great to see. Bushcraft skills are always welcomed, provided it's a no trace policy and stealth a must. One thing I thought was great that you made, was the fishing line trick, to stop any unexpected visitors sneaking up on you when you least expected...especially in today's social climate. Hope these ideas help you decide what route you decide to take buddy. Best wishes from Bromley, Kent

    Dude.....nail on the head for me! I'm exactly in your demographic and often get frustrated with the lack of free time I have to spend a decent amount of time outdoors. I'm very much looking forward to your ideas coming to fruition.

    Enjoy your well-produced videos. The future looks good! My suggestion would be to change your channel name to something that reflects what you are doing, because I haven't seen any dogs on your channel!

      Thanks and yes, I've been pondering that for a while. The idea was take them with me but when I'm with them there is one I need to pay a lot of attention to as he's a bit of an idiot. I was hoping he would grow out of it, but I think he's just an idiot! I need to look into that.

    I'm in my upper 50s here. Single dad in the truest sense of a 16 y/o. Also have aging parents. Single day adventures close to home is my limit right now. Hopefully, I will be more adventurous in a couple of years. Also, a bit of escapism is welcome at the moment.

    Good stuff pal. Taking those skills on the road so-to-speak. I have to think in my 60s how I do stuff in my life now. No more 30 mile tabs, just a couple of miles and not it nasty in weather if I don't want to

    • @dogdadoutdoors
      @dogdadoutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you. Yes I think part of it. Learning what works and what doesn't as you get older. I'm looking forward to exploring that and finding my boundaries. There is a great youTuber called the hiking rev, he is in his 70's and has great video titles like 'a hike and a heart attack', which he actually did have, he just keeps pushing forward.

      Got to admit I'm no expert on that, I know a few. Maybe something I need to learn for a challenge video, will dog dad survive eating what he thought was an edible mushroom? I could give that a go, but maybe stick to the real basics and things I can't mistake, definitely no mushrooms!

    Brilliant wish you all the luck. I'm a few miles from Kinder Scout. That was my training ground in the 90s when I was training for military. There's lots of other places too. I can send some grid references.
    New forest is an excellent place for adventures too. Not that far from you really. Jim Holdens channel is excellent for ideas in that area. He's the new forest master !.
    I think some videos on point to point in the peak district and dealing with cold and heat as well as navigation would create interest as well as survival navigation on the hills and generally looking after yourself.
    New forest and coastal camps would be great too imo. Survival tips, coastal fishing maybe, coastal food sources and cooking. I'm planning some coast camps in them areas this summer..
    I've done a fair bit in the new forest and a fair bit of navigation walks down their too Mostly with my sons.
    They are working now and have their own lives so it looks like I'm on my own for a bit now. New adventures!. Good luck to you. Lots to go out. You'll do good I'm sure 👍👍

    • @dogdadoutdoors
      @dogdadoutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Cheers, yes New forest is pretty close and I can grab a train there pretty easily. Jim Holden got me back into the outdoors after quite a long lay-off, his channel really should get more attention. Thanks for the ideas, I'll add them to the list. On kids growing up, my eldest starts uni this year, its going to feel a lot more empty, peaceful, but empty!

    I'm definitely in your demographic and relate to all that you say. Especially, not being able to camp out all the time and make the best of what you can when you can. Ive only just started watching as a new subscriber and our content is brilliant. It's informative, grounded and well presented and now up amongst my top favourite channels. Whatever you do will be working well for me. I haven't watched any of your early vids yet, but have done any videos on getting your dogs aclimatised to camping without bolting off?

    • @dogdadoutdoors
      @dogdadoutdoors  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi, no, I've not. I think I mentioned it on one video about sleeping in the garden and then a local site so if the worst comes to worst you can abandon ship and bring them home. Last thing you need is to drive 200 miles to stay for a couple of weeks and find the dog is barking all night and annoying everybody.

    There's something to be said for the Shaolin demonstrate once>learn method but I think that the military show> say>do method is probably one of the most effective methods available and one I'm a fan of.
    But however you deliver a lesson, it's for the student to actually do the learning.

    I'm in your main demographic age group, but female. I really like your down-to-earth and commonsense approach. I actually liked your educational type videos, but perhaps if you feel they weren't enough, you could show us again on some of your adventures (grid on the real map you are following that day, etc.) We could go along with you for a 'practical lesson'. By the way, I really like your simple approach - today's 'one shot' filming was nice. At least for me personally, I don't need to see 50 different camera angles - I know you work alone and I'm just happy to see the beautiful scenery from one or two angles. If I go somewhere myself, I don't set up my camera in a jillion angles because then I couldn't actually enjoy the view I went to see! Plus, mostly I have doggo and he'd be bored with that really quickly. And also, as someone who doesn't live in the UK, I really like your simple walks and camps in local places that no-one else ever shows. I must have watched Lakes District videos hundreds of times by now and I unsubscribed to many of those channels because they started to resort to things like hiking up and camping in gales with driving rain. Or hiking half naked 🙄

    • @dogdadoutdoors
      @dogdadoutdoors  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The hiking half naked thing is a weird one, I have noticed a few who seem to get a HUGE amount of views, can't compete with that, but then I really don't want to!

    yep your right i am trying to attract more ladies to my channel as i think they feel its very much a mans subject as an instructor i get a lot of women on courses and i always point out that in a lot of situations they are the survivors have those adventures mate and enjoy have fun stay safe like your plans

      Cheers buddy. Will visit Sunday Social again soon, still doing an extra day and half a week work over the weekend and evenings to buy kit so been busy/knackered. Just ordered new camera, but trying save up for a drone and epidemic sound subscription now before end of March. It's killing me! That said, from 6th April I'll have new kit and I can then start investing in content and ease off the pace a bit.
