  • I wake up early feeling a little anxious for what today’s walk might entail. It is described as severe, challenging and one of the toughest sections. After yesterday’s 22 miles I hope my legs have enough in them to carry me over the expected rough terrain.

    Wow, those opening and closing shots! And the bits in between weren't too shabby either!! Paul, I always love your videos, but every so often, one of them blows me away and this was one of them. You really do take your audience with you and I could almost feel myself walking those steps. It's a stretch I know fairly well and I could identify with the conditions and almost feel the wind as you walked along. Amazing stuff. Thank you.

      I really was lucky with such beautiful conditions. Looking back on the walk I really enjoyed it and would like to do this section again one day, maybe stopping at Zennor for a drink. I try to find a balance between talking, scenery, natural ambience and music, so I’m pleased this one worked for you.

    Paul thank you so much for the SWCP series, it's a wonderful way of reliving the adventure, which took me 5 years , around covid.
    I found it the most enjoyable thing I have done as a adult. Which is a pretty big statement.
    Your videos let me relive, the tears ; torment ,and unadulterated joy.
    Many thanks,
    Matthew

      Thank you Matthew. I’m glad they are bringing it all back for you. That is the main reason for me filming them, so I can look back on them in the future and remember that I once did a thing!

    What a trip ! I see how heavy it is to walk over boulders and watch the rain coming. But it is beautiful!! I am leaving next week from the Netherlands for my trip ar the coastpath.
    Thank you so much for giving me a good preparation.

    Have just completed St. Ives to Pendeen, amazed that you did this is 1 walk - I did it over 2 days with a stop in Zennor and i'm absolutely shattered. As you mentioned with all the rocks and boulders you never get any momentum going and each step you have to think about foot placement. Really tough going. Spent most of time looking at feet and forgot to look up at all the views !! Onwards. Thanks for the videos - really helps me prep for the stages ahead

      Haha yes well if I did it again I may also chose to split this walk at Zennor. I follow the Paddy Dillon itinerary and some of the days are a bit of a push. I would like to do it again in the future where I take more time and slow down a bit.

      Agreed I did St Ives to Pendeen the other day but would strongly advise splitting it in two stopping in Zennor. Really difficult section

    At the time of writing, Paul you've got one more stint to complete the path, but so far this video is my favourite, Of the 2600 views its currently got, I've probably accounted for 10% of them as I've watched it so many times. The scenery and the music you've added to the video is top notch. The video featuring Blackchurch Rock (oh another North coast video!) comes a close second. I know the views give an indication, but it'd be interesting to know what your subscribers favourites were when you've finished it. Perhaps a poll could be setup if that'd work?

    • @pilgrimpaul7798
      @pilgrimpaul7798  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes that’s one of my favourites too. Actually most of my most memorable sections are on the north coast. Thanks for boosting the views, the more views my videos get, the more TH-cam promotes them to other people.

    Really enjoying your videos Paul, as others have said you've done a great job editing and with your music choice👍.
    I'm starting the SWCP next week but in sections starting from where I live (Whitsands bay) and heading west and covering Cornwall first. Where do you get the contact details for the small campsites like at Pendeen? I plan on wild camping but when the weather turns bad a camp site will be handy.

    • @pilgrimpaul7798
      @pilgrimpaul7798  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much Mike. I love Whitsand Bay. I have just had my stag wk end at a chalet in Freathy. I follow the itinerary in Paddy Dillons guide book, so when I’m planning my time away I roughly know where each day will finish. I then look at OS maps and google to see what campsites are in that area. Sometimes I contact them in advance to check they are open and have space, other times I just turn up. I think in general they always find room for a hiker. If you want any more info on the places I stayed then give me a shout.

    What an absolutely outstanding area! Can never get enough of a sea shore. Woke up this morning to it being pretty foggy. Now the sun has broke through and it is actually quite humid. Big change for us in such a short period of time as it as been a pretty cold spring so far. These sorts of areas really make a person want to get outside! I take tumbles so often that I don't even count anymore. lol Take great care and enjoy the journey! Bruce and Otis

      Funny you mention the weather as I had quite changeable conditions on this walk. It is quite incredible in all weathers. We have had a very mild spring in SW England. Monty has enjoyed the nice weather swimming in the local river.

    Great video! This is such a beautiful walk. I have done the St. Ives - Zennor both ways (2012, 2016 and 2019). Being Norwegians, we are very much used to more severe terrain, so for us, this is a quite moderate grade walk. Some of the stretches in North Cornwall are much more demanding in my opinion, with the many long and steep ups and downs :-) I believe this one can be more difficult in wet weather, but that goes for the whole SWCP :-) Thank you for sharing :-)

    • @pilgrimpaul7798
      @pilgrimpaul7798  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree Torunn, I would certainly say some of the North Cornwall and North Devon days were harder than this. It was actually a great walk, even with the rain at the end of the day.

      Thank you Nick. I do spend a fair bit of time trying to get the music to fit the mood of the walk. I film on my GoPro Hero 9 with the odd clip done on my phone when I want to zoom in on something. It does a good job but does struggle when the light starts fading. I’m glad you think it all looks good. Thanks for the feedback.
