    I swear to god I've seen the Omega man at least 500 times. I love that movie.

      Between us that'd be a 1000 times, lol. I totally get what Burton says here...I'd always make time to watch Omega Man whether it was a Sunday afternoon or late night TV. Just something intangible about the movie that's totally cool. Will Smith's remake was okay...but missed the mark in many ways. I like the hommage Smith did with the updated Mustang at the beginning.

      lol how old are you? I'm just assuming you have to be pretty old to have seen a movie that many times.

      Turned 50 last month. I wouldn't call that "pretty old", though...lol.

      +Andrew Jones I am 53, and saw the movie upon its original release.I started counting my viewings a few years back, and my tally since when (beginning 2004), is at 33. That count is way, way off the actual number of times I have actually viewed the movie.

      Not necessarily. I love watching bad movies over and over again, because I find them entertaining. And yet no one in my family, and very few friends, will watch them with me. They all believe the films stink. So be it.

    Omega Man is my favorite Heston film. Soylent Green next. If you like cheezy sci-fi , checkout Glen and Randa. If you can find it. Look for the traffic on the freeway in the far distance as our hero gazes over the apocalyptic landscape.

    The scene where Neville is playing chess and forgets Caesar is a statue and says "Did you move?". The camera pulls back out of the apartment and reveals his fortress is also a prison. Great scene

    Signs of a good Chuck Heston film: Chuck dies at the end, Chuck gets a gun and kills bad guys, Chuck at some point give a guttural "Oh my God...," Honorable Mention Chuck: Airport '75 where Chuck gives a guttural, "Climb, baby, climb..."

      Oh my God! A fellow Hestonite! Well met Tiger! I totally agree with all your points. Let me add a few other recognizable qualities of full on chuck! In no particular order: aviator
      Sun glasses; neck slaps; shirt off; wise cracks “Hey Landon, join the expedition”; fancy cravat around neck; heavy breathing before after or while saying his lines; using the word “bloody” and much much more! He is the greatest!

    • @jkorshak
      @jkorshak 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To his credit, he's good with Shakespeare, he's great in Touch of Evil, and his go at Long John Silver in Treasure Island is dark and malevolent and a great performance. Gets props for being the first really big hollywood star to do scifi.
      But all Heston fans need to see this:

    A few choice cheesy one liners from memory include: “ there’s never a cop around when you need one; ha, big brother how’s your ass; your move, imperator; oh MY GOD(he always says that in his films) I’d like to see some son of a bitch beat that!” Needless to say- I love Heston and Heston movies!!!! The first Aprs movie and Omega man and Doyle the green are all fantastic movies with the wise cracks- I never realized that before but Tim is right; he did do that in his films before others started!

    The remake "I Am Legend" seemed hollow and focused on CGI. Like Tim Burton said, "The Omega Man" had characters on the dark side, not CGI monsters without a soul. High budgets don't necessarily mean better movies IMHO

    Doesn't Tim Burton ever give his hands a rest when he's being interviewed. The continous waving of his hands indicates uneasiness, anxiety, nervousness, discomfort, irritation, and wishing he were somewhere else. He struggles a lot to find answers too. He's a fine director, but seems to deliver a lousy interview.
