Thanks for the review. One tip on starting any gas washer. Remove the tip and use a piece of wire to lock the handle open. Water will flow and starting will be much easier. I always let the engine run for a couple of minutes at idle with water flowing (no tip) to let it warm up. Then you can increase rpm’s, close the trigger and attach the tip.
*Yep that's a great unit, you certainly made the right choice. Only thing you need now is a turbo nozzle and a surface cleaner. Those two accessories will really make you love that pressure washer.*
I got less than 5 hours on mine when the compression release on the head quit working - GB420-3 Chinese engine. (and yes, I release built up water pressure when starting) It tried to break my hand several times until finally the rope broke. I called Simpson - absolutely worthless support team. They told me to call a repair shop in my area. I saw in a video if the valves are out of adjustment the compression release also won't work. Will be looking for a Honda engine now.
There are 2 surface cleaners for this high pressure machine, the cheaper (not cheap) $180 circular or the $330 free standing type and they both work well, but, for home use the circular one is sufficient.
I just bought the factory refurbished one and this thing is no joke!!! Unbelievable power. I looked online at cheapest prices and found the refurbished one for 650 bucks. Great purchase. Thanks for posting this video!! Made my mind up after watching this video.
The Simpson motor has been reliable for me, but I haven’t used it for daily or near-daily use. I think it would hold up. But the Honda certainly has a more established reputation for professional use.
I just ordered the Simpson PS60919 it’s rated at 4400-PSI and 4 GPM. I wanted to get the ALH4020 but it was not available. The PS60919 it’s rated at 9HP and the ALH4020 it’s rated at 13 HP. Can someone explain why the difference in HP when they both have the same Honda GX390?
It’s holding up well, actually. I learned the hard way not to let old gas sit in it. Gunks up the carb and will cause it to stop/sputter until that’s resolved. Otherwise, solidly reliable.

I’m debating on getting this pressure washer but my question is should I get the lift gate service and it’s only going to be used on my home every few months so should I also invest in the warranty?
I've used it to wash my vehicles, but I would definitely recommend lowering the pressure via the pressure regulator valve before doing so. I don't know how low that brings the PSI to, but at the higher settings it could easily damage cars. There is a dial that you can turn to increase/decrease how hard the pump is working. Minimum setting is what I'd use for car washing.
Thank you for the video.... it was long time now, can I ask you if everything is going fine up now? I di really want to buy one because of the low price vs Honda engine. Thank you
Hi, Alex. Yes, everything is still working for me well. I was willing to take the 'risk' of paying less for the non-Honda engine but that's a personal choice for anyone.
Nobody has asked if it has a soap reservoir, does the pressure washer have a soap tank. Secondly the 4200 psi is more expensive than the 4400 psi, why so, I hope there will be somebody that understands the technicalities of these equipment that can explain it so that I will not buy wrong.
Hopefully that Simpson engine holds up for you.. it’s a Honda clone so you never know. Looks like it has electric start too. There is a starter behind the key switch
Mr. Cut Lawn Care, LLC Yeah, that was my concern. I was wondering why this model was cheaper than the Simpson 4200 psi/4 gpm model, then I found out that the 4200 model has a Honda engine. Is the cheaper price ( and more psi) worth it in your opinion? I just bought the DeWalt 3800 psi/3.5 gpm with Honda engine, but was thinking about returning it after seeing this model, but the engine's giving me second thoughts. Your opinion would be appreciated.
It all depends on your use. If you are using it residentally (no more than about 4 times a month around your home) then I think that You will be fine with the Simpson engine under warranty. But if you are like me, putting 100-120 hours a year on your units, I would most definitely go with a Honda. My thing with Honda is that you KNOW you are getting proven quality that will last YEARS past the warranty.
Mr. Cut Lawn Care, LLC Thank you for response. As I plan to make pressure washing a part of my whole handyman business (hopefully a couple houses a week), I will be returning the DeWalt 3800 psi/3.5 gpm and upgrading to the DeWalt 4200psi/4gpm; it's only $200 more, still has Honda engine, and does 4 gpm (which I've read is the minimum gpm one needs if they plan on pressure washing in an efficient manner). I believe anything more than 4 gpm then you're looking at needing a reservoir, then a trailer, etc. Thanks again.
Philip David I bought the DeWalt 4200, which doesn't have electric start, so I'm afraid I won't be much help to you. From the video, it seems like he simply turns the key to "on" then goes through start up procedure, but I might be missing something. If you're having start up issues (which this model seems to have at times), I suggest looking up the model on Amazon and then read the q&a section; they usually provide in depth answers to a wide variety of questions from previous buyers, providing "real world" advice that you may not get from the manufacturer's website.
Unless I'm missing something glaring (which I don't think I am) the engine does NOT have electric start, as Mr. Cut Lawn Care suggested above. It's just a different way to have an engine kill switch, or the typical red on/off switch, as you mentioned. There is nothing in the manual about electric start because it doesn't have it, i believe.

Just a heads up
The gun & lance fit properly in the gun keeper
The gun fits under the tab & lance sits on top of it
So the tip clears the ground
Thanks for the tip! Since I made this video I came to realize what you're referring to. Definitely works better that way.

Yes, it does have a chemical injector right at the pump.
