    I can't believe you let that pressure washer run that long without depressing the trigger which allows water to cool the pump. If you continue running that PW like that it definitely won't be long before you burn up the pump itself!!

  • @LeadfootPTM
    @LeadfootPTM 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    The manual tells you to not run the machine over two minutes with the trigger on the wand not pulled. It overheats the pump. Washers with a bypass can be ran longer. Washers with only an unloader should be ran no more that 2 minutes when not washing. I repair and sell these washers and have seen damaged pumps simply because the owners laid the wand down and walked away with the machine running.

      I use a Gatorade bottle to keep the trigger engaged. Saves my hands after 6 hours.lol and she runs all day. No over heating.

    Had an Edger with a 5 horse Honda engine bought back in 1985 it works for years without much maintenance just change the oil on it and added stabilizer in it gave it away in 2020 still running. Only big repair on it was replacing the recoil. (Pull Rope). For small engines I really like Hondas.

    • @deankay4434

      Adding the fuel stabilizer is a very good point. I use the extended mix ratio before it is cleaned, lubed and put away for the season. Some have dip stick or plug fill holes, that propping it up, a suction gun can be used to drain the crankcase sump. No fiddling with a drain plug. I use outboard fuel tanks for gas. You have a squeeze bulb to start fuel flow and the come with screw vent, gage and in 3, 5, 7, 9 gallon sizes. The smaller 3 & 5 gallon come new with each engine in create. A marine dealer parts department will have dozens to sell on the cheap if you work on them. They have zero cost invested in this inventory and if dealer sells all outboard motor boats (bass, year round aluminum and pontoon) they will start throwing them away. Put the plastic pet cock on the end of hose with 3-4" to fill small tanks! One small container or oil per gallon so easy math to get 40:1 ratio.
      Thanks for the USA made equipment review Pete!

    It's interesting to see you be so knowledgeable about something besides paint. Not that pressure washers are that complicated but I can tell you really like to do your research. Thanks Pete! I've been painting cars lately, mostly thanks to you. I've watched so many of your videos and I feel like my base of knowledge is all from you. And the more cars I paint and have real life experience, the more that you're lessons and ideas have shown to be correct.

    Thanks Pete for the USA power equipment we all can use at home and shop. Mine was running fine and suddenly, something happened to the governor, it broke, went wide open and quit running before I could shut it off. Every breaks and sometimes, no one sells parts. I give up sometimes as crap break faster than I can fix it. The Camaro, Mustang and Mopar all look good. Thanks to the hardest working couple on TH-cam. Minnie and My Friend Pete! DK, Omaha.

    Upgrade to this would be a belt driven pump. And Psi is not that important as the GPM. but More than 4 GPM you may need to get into a buffer tank.
    Don’t run chemical through the pump, get a downstream injector it’s a Venturi after the pump. Also don’t let it warm up unless you have water running out the end, otherwise you are recycling warmer and Warmer water through your pump this will also decrease pump life as will injecting chemicals into the pump. Good luck Pete nice purchase go USA

    I looked up the engine and the pump. The GX390 is $800+ and the CAT pump lists for around $700. So, I'd say $1200 is an excellent deal, considering building it yourself would cost a lot more. Thanks for the review, Pete! :)

    Great video however even regardless of what the manual says (I own this machine) don’t ever run it past 60 seconds without pulling the trigger. it doesn’t matter what pump you have, it will burn it out quickly. Sadly, these are actually not commercial grade pumps by CAT. These are their secondary grade pumps. They’re not terrible, but they’re nothing like the real commercial grade CAT’s

    Most engines are made overseas. Honda's are made all overseas. But still are probably the best engines. Frames are pretty damm generic in design but some are aluminum. Pumps are probably the most important part of pressure washers. AR Pumps are Italian and pretty good. American companies are mostly using imported products. Read the fine print and details.
    American made and manufactured would be great if it were reality.

    This is hard to watch. There might be more INCORRECT statements coming out of this guys mouth than correct ones. Mr. America here said he'd done his research, and the reason he paid for this particular model is because it was built and made in America! But if he'd done ANY research at all, he'd know that is INCORRECT, and that the CAT pump is made in Japan, and that most of the Honda engines made are, in fact, made in Japan as well. The product is then shipped here, and final assembly is sometimes completed in the United States or Canada. But my beef is that not only does he tell you over and over about buying this powerwasher, strictly because it was built and made in America, which is INCORRECT, but never once mentions the fact that he knows very clearly that the Honda engine is, and has always been a Japanese product. Its very obvious that he dodges the subject all together! After that mess, he then goes on to say that the tips are not quick release, which is INCORRECT (they ARE high pressure quick release tips). He says that the supplied hose is 20 feet, which is INCORRECT, 50 feet being the standard. There is no such thing as a #40 tip, the CORRECT statement is that its a 40%tip, meaning the amount of psi flowing through the tip at any time. And finally, he INCORRECTLY states that the engine is a GXS engine that produces about 10 horsepower, where the "did his homework" answer is that it's a HONDA GX390 engine, which produces 11.7 horsepower.
    When I see someone like this, that has absolutely NO business trying to explain something that he has NO correct Information to tell the public about, I have to beg people to please DO NOT "like" & "subscribe" to this type of video, because not only does this guy get paid, but he gets paid to tell you whatever he wants to make up, and you might just believe him!! Scary to think! Wake Up People, Wake Up!

      My friend Pete does these reviews as a favor to people, he knows his viewers probably couldn't care less, but he does it anyway, and we appreciate that. As for the Simpson P/W, and as a small engine repair shop I can personally vouch for their products, they work, and yes, they are built in Japan and assembled in the US, but really who cares ? Lots of products are sold and distributed that way, in fact I don't think there is small engine product out there that comes from the US. So if you want a in depth review on a pressure washer why are you on a paint and body channel ? That's why most of us are here, because My friend Pete and Minnie the body shop girl know paint and body like nobody else, and if My friend Pete wants to throw in a little tidbit of something else whatever, it's their channel and they can choose to do what ever they want, it's a Free Country last I looked 👁️👁️
