This is history repeating itself. Every time Liverpool looks like it’s walking the league, there will be a raft of dodgy offsides and red cards to “make the league more competitive”
One of my issues with the rules is the terminology used at times. DOGSO is denial of a goal or a goal scoring opportunity. But it could be argued that no opportunity was denied based on the fact that Raul Jimenez had that goal scoring opportunity. So how is it a DOGSO if Jimenez still got that opportunity? And that's before we have the discussion about Wilson's first touch. Saying Jimenez didn't score shouldn't matter because he had that opportunity. The rule is denial of a goal or a goal scoring opportunity. No goal was denied because Wilson still had Alisson to beat. And no goal opportunity was denied because Jimenez had it. Too many gray areas in these rules that VAR is exposing. And here's another funny part about the rule. If that's in the penalty box, then it might be a yellow card because of the double jeopardy rule. But if you don't score the penalty, you don't suddenly give the player a red card. Yet Jimenez doesn’t score his opportunity and Robbo gets a red card. Rules are a mess
Yeah Frank is losing his marbles here, unless Harry Wilson can break the sound barrier in terms of speed he is not catching up to the ball as it went way to far ahead of him. It was not a goal scoring opportunity and in fact the goal scoring opportunity went to Jimenez. Easy yellow but Robertson should not have got sent off.
Might be a blessing for Liverpool in the end. Slot is ruthless and I hope this was the moment when Robertson lost his first eleven spot. As much as I like Robbo as a player and person he's been poor since coming back from injury last spring. The way Gomez handled the left back last season and against Fulham should grant him that spot when Konate returns
Using the DOGSO criteria, it wasn’t a red card as Wilson was not getting to his touch before Jimenez or even Van Dijk. The big problem here is that VAR could see that Wilson beat Robertson to the ball and where the ball ended up. They then should have gone through the DOGSO criteria and came to the conclusion that a mistake had been made. A red card is too important for VAR not to use the correct interpretation of the rules……..otherwise what is VAR really for?
Robertson made an honest but clumsy attempt to play ball. It is clear and obvious that DOGSO did not apply here, and the VAR official completely failed in his duties by "forgetting" the rules. We have literally seen THREE worse fouls made on Liverpool players with no attempt made to play ball this season, and two were rated yellow and one called a no foul. The referees have one set of rules when adjudicating reds for Liverpool players, and a completely different set of rules when the Liverpool is getting fouled. There is not even a fig leaf for the PGMOL to hide behind anymore.
Fulham should have had 2 Reds. Liverpool shouldn't have had a Red and got one. Fulham Score with player who should have been sent off. We still battle on, dominate for 90 mins with 10 men and really should have won. But the PGMOL love LiVARpool.
a few months ago Jota was through on goal, and the defender didn't get a red for fouling , because he wasn't through on goal !! There is of.c no consistency and it again costs LFC points !
Oh not surprised 😂 the Refs and VAR wants the league do be More competitive so we're getting shafted at the same time Robbo is helping them he has been so clumsy
This isn't even the decision in the match that annoyed people, It was the Pereira challenge and the Tete clattering Gomez in the box decisions that wound people up and they aren't even mentioned
Absolutely. That is the most bonafide penalty I have ever seen in my life and the bullshit excuses some come up with. Makes no difference if you don’t an opposition player is there, you cannot expect 10 yards to yourself. That logic didn’t in come play for Luis Diaz early on when he attempted a bicycle kick and received a yellow card for dangerous play.
RC should be rescinded because the call fails to meet at least two of the DOGSO considerations: likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball as well as location and number of defenders. For the record, DOGSO must satisfy four considerations. Not two, not three, all four. The cleats on Gravenberch’s leg were a much clearer RC.
Why is no one talking about the fact that the goal scoring chans wasn't denyied? Jimenez got a one on one with Alisson. That is a good goal scoring oppertunity!
Frank what are u on about, his touch, if u could even call it that, is sending him more to the touchline than through on goal. They gave the red on the premise of dogso, but it clearly doesn't look like it.
Frank going senile early. If there's a chance he won't get onto it, it's not a clear goal scoring opportunity. That's the point. It has to be clear. I'm a Liverpool fan, and didn't really have much argument with red, but if you're saying it has to be a clear goal scoring opportunity, and you're unsure if he gets there or not because of his touch, then it's not clear and therefore not a red
Why would they appeal when Robertson is only going to miss a league cup game? It’s a game he probably wouldn’t have played in anyway. Craig is so lazy.
The ball isn't even going towards the goal, going 10 meters left, like when salsa was taken down in the Chelsea game, the ball was heading towards the sideline
100%...the ref was overly bias or had some sinister intention. But I just cant understand Craig can say he understands why the ref gave a straight red. For sure Craig...you dont understand at all or you are intentionally trying to help or be by the ref side. This could probably be the reason why the officials are so brazen in deciding which club wins the title. You are a professional pundit..so please show your professional responsibilities. If you cant, then try learning from very good pundits like Ian Wright, Tim Shearwood or Alan Shearer. These three are really professional pundits.😮
in the moment, it’s the clearest red there is but it IS completely arguable that the goal scoring isn’t certain - and it isn’t i hope we appeal that card and get it 🤞🏾
Frank is clearly wrong here , the ref already played advantage for Jimenez clear goal scoring opportunity not wilsons ( whom would never have had one as his heavy touch took the ball away from goal) The ref took his time to make a decision which should have indicated to VAR that something was potentially amiss. Nobody prevented Jimenez from scoring by way of a foul so its clear that the laws of the game have , again, been not correctly applied. LFC should have appealed on principle alone but seems that they were going to rest Robertson for the cup game anyway so didn’t felt it wasn’t worth the bother to rock the boat. Pity really.
This is why I'm not giving the EPL airtime. Why must I support a league that's doing in my team or any other in favour of Man City? Man City were also helped this weekend by the PGMOL and they still couldn't win lol City should've seen 2 reds. Have these people no shame? They're all friends and look at Coote... Are you telling me the others aren't like him? Lol I'm not the EPL's fool.
regardless of the fact we still need a starting LB in the summer window. Robbo is a liability at this stage constantly getting skinned, 2 penalties conceded this season already. Simi is a better option than Robbo these days. He is the wrong side of 30. He was a Klopp player when he was in his prime. His prime is gone.
It's a red card guys, just think about it if Wilson isn't taken out he can literally be squared the ball for a tap in. I'm a Liverpool supporter and I'd be fuming if it was a yellow card
If Wilson suddenly attain a superhuman speed, he might be able to take the ball after his heavy first touch, but again, a tackle like that can only be a red card if it was denying a clear cut goal scoring chance, which it obviously isn’t becoz the ball landed on Jimenez legs who instead got the clear goal scoring chance. Mind you, the ref played the advantage and only whistled when Jimenez missed it
If LFC is walking the league, the EPL needs to intervene so that they follow the script. They need it to be competitive! Oh remember the game when D.Coote was the referee and gestured no foul on Salah who was through to goal? Not even a yellow for the player for taking him down. Dodgy decisions non-stop!
I haven't got too many complaints about the red, although Jimenez did miss the chance so what's advantage??? I'm more bothered about the two reds Fulham should have had. To me those are obvious so I don't understand why they weren't upgraded during the match. Does VAR do anything now except offside?
Obvious foul, obviously through on goal, obviously VVD is too far away. No guarantee Wilson scores, but absolutely a guarantee there is a goal-scoring opportunity. Imagine Fulham makes this foul at Anfield and it's not given, people would be going mad. I get that controversial takes get clicks, but this is silly.
That was straight up red , last man and denial of clear goal scoring opportunity. Robertson wasn't playing the ball either. The other dodgy decision are debatable.
I am a lifelong Liverpool fan,. Lets call a spade a spade. It was a red card. Robbo made it easy for the Ref to give the red because he took a p*ss poor touch and tried to recover by lunging desperately at Wilson. It was maybe 50/50 dogso. Unfortunately, this pattern is happening quite often with Robbo recently because he has lost a step. And now everyone is getting past him. In fact, everyone is finding great joy in attacking both our flanks these days.
It's clear that it was a foul, the question is, if you take PGMOL's own logic regarding Saliba's challenge that resulted in a red card compared to a similar challenge by Tosin resulting in a yellow card, then this is not a red because it is not a denial of a clear goal scoring opportunity. It would be if Harry Wilson was in control of the ball.
Was Harry Wilson going to score? He would have probably caught up with the ball near the touch line after his touch. The goal scoring opportunity was for Jimenez and his 'shot' was cleared by VVD. Once the chance was missed then how can you state that the opportunity was not allowed. To me a yellow but of course I would be putting my biased head on had it been a Liverpool attacker felled. The bigger issue were the two clear red card fouls which were not punished. Fixes, a team should have a challenge per game against a VAR decision, successful and your challenge remains, unsuccessful and tough, no more. These ref's need to be made to review their errors in game.
@@frank-caroltrott6131 if challenging a decision comes into play, the refs have to be held accountable and have to be mic'd up to discuss how n why they came to their decisions. They've been inconsistent with the way they treat similar incidents for far too long.
