My Love and prayers to ms. Shirley and family, I have enjoyed many wonderful hours with the band and I was named Charlie by Raymond. So I love my bluegrass family. And the kindness to me is immeasurable. My love Gary "Charlie"Justice
Very good performance on the banjo. The first part, "I wanna drink of water", made me think of Lonnie Glosson, and his talking harmonica. As a kid in the 1950's, I grew up listening to Lonnie Glosson and Wayne Rainey, on WCKY, out of Cincinatti, and I had the opportunity to meet Lonnie, in 1987. Diabetes had just about taken him then ....he had lost one leg and really looked worn. But he could still make that harmonica talk. Thanks for taking me back a few years. /Ben
I know where Raymond got this. When I was a teen, my dad had a Flatt & Scruggs album which was live..and Earl Scruggs played the same song except this has more parts. Lester Flatt introduces the song saying "Here is a song where Earl Scruggs makes the old 5 string talk". Raymond is a good musician!!
Yep that’s the Carnegie Hall recording. And Earl makes me proud to be a “hillbilly “ when you hear that NYC crowd love mountain music. Raymond’s version has a very comical yet awesome feel to it.
Hey suckerpunchpictures If u see this please respond back! I was telling my friend about Raymond and i was gonna show him the documentaries about him u had on ur channel but now i cant find them.what happened to them?
I'm actually not sure. At some point I may have removed them to take down redundant footage online. There are several clips on my channel with Raymond but the full piece I put together is an extra on the DVD "The Last One." I can upload it again when I have a chance. Eddie wasn't satisfied with all of their performances as I remember, because for part of it I had the band back on the stage and they said they were a half beat out of sync or something. Maybe it was the echo in the empty room. I couldn't really tell.
