absolutely real - i own their entire catalog and the cd recordings differ. it's like when you get used to an original recording by a band that you've heard many times and you know it note for note. then you hear them live and many times are disappointed because they change it up or just don't play it as well. and if it is the exact same you know it's them faking it. LOVEBITES plays it better live and pride themselves in near perfection. most talented group of ladies i've ever seen and maybe the best live band as well.

I think Love Bites is one of the best girl metal bands in Japan or even the world! The harmonies in the twin-lead guitar solos are particularly appealing!

Talking about hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock. (FYI, Earth, Wind and Fire's first visit to Japan was in 1978. Iron Maiden in 1981) Uh oh, we also say "Japan is a country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

@@davidornberg Sorry I have only few knowledge about Japanese rock bands except BABYMETAL, Lovebites, Band-Maid and Nemophila. In a popular TV program last year, Keiko (Show-Ya) and Saki (Nemophila) emphasized one thing saying "BABYMETAL is not a ALL-female band, but thanks to their international success, many music fans in foreign countries became aware of female bands in Japan disregarding language barrier. They opened doors for us". I am a stubborn old Japanese guy and have been a fan of old funk music by Tower of Power etc. for 45 years, but BABYMETAL also forced me to open my stiff eyes to the ladies in 2019. 😄

We tried to get Bridear but Covid stopped that but we got Necronomidol and NEMLESSS, SARI & GARUDA to perform in Sweden!

Japan, like Europe is full of talented musicians playing and keeping metal and rock going strong. Lovebites, Nemophila, and Band Maid are incredible bands.
