    I live in Vegas, $1400 to OWN a 3 bedroom 3 bath 2 story house in Southern Highlands. You and Greta should buy while interest rates are low, you are getting ripped off. Rent always goes up, but once you buy you are locked into your mortgage price and don't have to worry about rent increases.

    • @yeabuddy6070
      @yeabuddy6070 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Then.. hoa... Then utilities... Then taxes... Then maintenance.. and don't forget the 80 k you need for down payment. Houses are for married couples.

      @XZOL445 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@yeabuddy6070 Better to buy something than spend $24,000 a year and end up with 0 equity like they're doing with this place.

      I agree with buying verses renting. It is an investment. Renting is flushing your money down the toilet. But I can understand a young couple renting for a little while as they save for a down payment. Also the best part about renting is someone else has to fix stuff for you! Lol Owning a home comes with big responsibility. All in good time I suppose and your eye on the prize.

      that's right....although it is a beautiful apartment.....you are getting ripped off by greedy landlords....$2000 is a hell of alot of money to enrich somebody else....I bought a condo in Southwest part of Vegas... although many years ago, during the real estate collapse...my mortgage is $529...including taxes, interest and insurance.. .that being said, ..you will be better off buying...at least it will be yours and you won't be rent hiked every lease time.....best of luck to both of you...and the apartment is lovely, I might say..

      Yeah it is... Just under 50 years ago, my dad started a job a under $3/hour in a factory and was able to support a family and buy a house. My first apartment was similar to this one, it even had a loft and a fireplace, and it cost $715 in 2003, which was pretty high for the area and time. I made $9 and had to have a roomate to barely get by. Wages have not increased at nearly the pace of what things cost and the situation is only going to get worse before it finally breaks

      I find it so interesting how everything is relative. I live in the NYC suburbs, and I feel like Pompsie's place is way cheap for what you get. I own my 1br apt and pay like $1300 in mortgage and co-op fees for something not even half as nice as his place. Current market value if it was a rental is probably closer to $1500.

    Gonna throw this out there...consider a little Christmas present for yourself and Gretta. Get a larger TV (surprisingly inexpensive these days) and have it mounted on your wall. This will open the floor space under it for a faux fireplace/cabinet (it also doubles as a heater you can use or not). This will give you a true "theater experience at home" and an ambiance at night you'll love. You can do all of this for about what you pay for one month's rent. I have it and love it plus you will never have to worry about an accidental bump or kitty mishap that sends your TV to the floor.

    Fantastic job on the apartment!! Those counter tops look like quartz to me. They're very popular now. They help rent apartments. I'm so glad to see you in a nice place that's clean and uncluttered. It will help you be more productive. Good job! Build or repair your credit if you need to and save up some money. We all want you in a house/condo/townhouse next time Chris. It's good to fix your cost of housing so you won't pay rent increases forever. Over time increases in rent will surpass what it costs to buy now or when you're really ready. Vegas is a great town with lots of nice housing options. Best regards.

    It's already been said, but you really should buy a place while rates are low. I ran $2000/month through a mortgage calculator, and you guys could buy a $450,000 house in Vegas for the same price you're renting this one for. Unless you're planning on leaving Vegas soon, this is just flushing away $24,000 a year.

      Facts but most ppl don't qualify for a mortgage or they just don't see it that way, even if they do move elsewhere they could always rent it out which in this market rn someone would snap it up quickly. My girls dad is a real estate agent and business is booming in Vegas rn, like he always tells everyone "if ur just renting not buying ur just wasting ur money".

    Very nice place! Rents have gone way up in the past year but I don't see your place being overpriced given how nice it is, the security and all the amenities.
    Enjoy!
