I went thru a big major complicated loss and upheaval in 2019, followed by that year of essentially involuntary self-confinement via COVID in 2020. There are still days when I’m not quite sure who I am after all of that. And that still doesn’t even come close to going thru a hurricane, much less two of them back-to-back.
Seeing all this makes me really want to do van life - build it out & travel - this breaks my heart seeing all these people who worked so hard to build a home, life, community - I've been through flooding of my places but nothing to this extent. Sending prayers that they will all find the strength to carry on & enjoy their lives - I am so sorry this happened to you all!
I lived in NY my whole life. Last year I moved to FL due to personal circumstances. I've come to the conclusion that this is not a place to live, it's a place to vist or vacation. The nice weather, tempatures, and views really aren't worth the trouble of the possibility of losing everything you own and worked for. The day I can go back to NY or anywhere around there will be a happy day for me.
We are northerners who came down and bought a beautiful home on the water in SW florida. We are not wiped out from any storm, but I suspect we will be virtually wiped out from very high insurance costs and the bottom falling out from the real estate market. Can’t afford the insurance and can’t afford to move.
@@blaster-zy7xx Even if the insurance doesn't get you, the next storm may if you are waterfront. That's the sad reality with Florida. It's only a mater of time.

The people were generally very friendly and easygoing and I was much fitter there too. I loved the smells in the air in fall. It's a good thing we all have our preferences otherwise... I like your videos because you show more of what actually happened with normal people. You're right that the news focused more on the roof of the baseball stadium, a crane falling over downtown. The news also rarely shows areas outside of the bigger cities. Smaller towns and communities are rarely ever shown on the news. The news does do a good job at providing weather information etc but they don't do much for coverage on areas away from the city and away from the water.
Yes! I loved this video! The news tried to make it a spectacle as if it is smth huge to celebrate... At least some news station's coverage felt like that. While I liked seeing news about it, as nobody was outside beside them and a few storm chasers, now it gets ridiculous... Now that you can actually go most places and talk to people, they don't... They still only show streets underwater, some trees being thrown over, the stadium and even say it wasn't that bad... I sometimes want them to loose their houses and whole neighbourhood, lifetime of memories and all and see if they still call it not bad...
You do a great job of bringing the storms/hurricanes to those that aren't there. You make it read for the rest of us. It helps us understand. Thank you.
I don’t understand why people build houses at ground level knowing that storm surges are always a risk with these storms- so damn sad. Building codes need to reflect the reality of living in an area like this.
100% agree. Within the first few minutes when he is talking about a neighbours trailer and we are looking out to sea. My thoughts were ‘who builds something so fragile on a virtually flat piece of land right on the sea in a hurricane zone and NOT expect one day for it to be hit big time.
These areas should only have solid apartment buildings for people with the lower part adampted for flooding, trailer parcs like that get destroyed and flooded every year, no use to rebuild all the time
No one is building wooden houses in Mediterranean and we have severe winds and storms at least 30 days per year. You should either have wooden "sunny days shelters" or proper homes build from bricks and concretes.
guy you do not have a clue. there's nothing that can be done when waves crash onto a singles story building and there are 10-15 feet of storm surge. 3-5 meters. your brick house would be underwater. what you're looking at here are trailers, aka modular homes build elsewhere and dropped on the site with a truck, sometimes even a barge in a community like this one. these are working class people. this is an area that the news crews can actually get to. the worst areas will not be accessible via roadways for weeks until the bridges are repaired. you'll have to travel by boat. milton was the biggest storm the world will see this year. it came about a week after helene. comparing your geography and your climate to this place is totally laughable. a florida hurricane would put the fear of god into your soul. the only thing you can do is run. if you're dumb enough to think you are safe in a brick building in 5 meters of water, be my guest and stay. write your name on your arm legibly in permanent marker so we can identify your body. ignorance is astounding.

I truly FEEL for the residents of FL affected by these hurricanes. But many were climate change deniers INCLUDING their governor. This is a "wakeup call" for not just FL, and much of the east coast, but for the ENTIRE country. These climate changes will only become more severe the more we collectively try to IGNORE it.
Very true. This is Trump country and there are even literally people on this very thread that believe that this would not have happened if Trump were president. And they think they are not in a cult.
The problem with some is they think the planets weather was all calm and peaceful from time began until a few decades ago. Then all of a sudden so called man-caused climate change (tried global warming for a while before that was easily debunked) has now caused all the hurricanes, tornadoes, and fires. A little history might tell a quite different story.
Hi, I like very much your videos because they bring the reality. I am so so sorry for the people. Not everyone has the possibility to rebuild or to move. These were their houses. Then who or what do you think it was????
Weather warfare 😞☁️
God bless you, Jonathan. Thank you for the real news!! So heartbreaking! Prayers from Texas!
Thanks for listening!
As sad as this is, it's not getting better. It will only continue to get worse. This is why insurance in Florida is at best expensive and at worst non-existent.
This has been happening to earth for millions of years !
I don’t think you understand what climate change is or what causes it.
Back to the swamp it is.
Yes, this is so sad, and I feel bad for these people. 😢 I’ve lived in west central FL for 44 years near U.S 19, and personally, I would never choose to live west of 19.
Uuu jak tekturowe domy stoją to jeszcze nie jest tak żle......
You are the only channel telling the story of the aftermath not the same pictures over n over again you are helping this community by letting them talk because it helps with there emotional well being thank you for your compassion
Thank you, we prioritize moving and showing more of the picture and also focus on the people because their stories are how we all can understand and relate with empathy and compassion
Seriously devastating impact 😮
Over 10 feet of surge isn’t a joke
Как они могли быть несерьёзными, если строят свои дома из картона практически? Вероятно, получат страховку и построят опять такие же? Как будто никогда не читали сказку " Три поросёнка "

Your coverage is so informative and the visuals from youtubers lije yourself let's the rest of the world see what's really happening because if not for youtube we would be less informed and literally in the dark....I was wondering about the guy in the boat...happy he's okay. Great coverage everytime. Blessings
I appreciate that and it’s why I take what I do so seriously. I want to show people the reality because so often it isn’t being shown and then people can’t make informed decisions
@JonathanPetramala blessings to you and rest of survivors. Keep up the faith and good works...God will make a way
V happy Lt Dan’s ok too! 🙌🙌
Mold long term health danger.
A problem all over the place right now too
All is so sad, but look how beautiful it is this morning! Florida. Land of danger but incredible scenery. Prayers for all. The Lord will give strength to make things better. So sorry to see all of this. Have family and friends in Tampa-St. Pete area, they’ve suffered loss too.💔🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I heard elsewhere that the guy in the boat made it!!
I heard some folks had gotten him to move to a shelter for the night. I saw that pretty late last night.
@@HomeGypsy I love it, people coming together to save this guy. 🤍🤍🤍
He stayed in his boat and he made it.
I've had my home within the family for 52 years my hear goes out to the old man in the turquoise shirt. Poor man
I live in englewood, on pine street
I drove by last night. Hope your home is ok
@@JonathanPetramala yeah we’re on Morningside dr. Just mostly branches and small clean up. Thank God🙌🏼
You consistently produce some of the best journalistic content on this platform…. Love your work!
Thank you for that, I really appreciate your support
You can stay in a large RV and drive it away when the hurricane hits.
Many do that in Louisiana
You know what we should do. For every nature effecting storm, damage. We should all stop working take a pause and all help clearing it up. Put it all on pause, like in the old days. People help people. Sad we can't do that anymore.
Fortunately I see a lot of people helping out after Helene and so I am sure more will come back to help after Milton
Hallelujah!!!! The daily jesus devotional has been a huge part of my transformation, God is good 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻was owning a loan of $47,000 to the bank for my son's brain surgery (David), Now I'm no longer in debt after I invested $8,000 and got my payout of m $270,500 every months,God bless Susan jane Christy 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸..

She's a licensed broker here in the states🇺🇸 and finance advisor.
After I raised up to 525k trading with her I bought a new House and a car here in the states🇺🇸🇺🇸 also paid for my son's surgery….Glory to God, shalom.
Can I also do it??? My life is facing lots of challenges lately
This is most appreciated! Real footage! Thanks
There was a family that strapped their roof on using yellow straps. Are they ok?
Great job, it is really appreciated
Much appreciated!
Thanks for the follow up on Lt. Dan. I don't understand why he didn't sail/motor his home to a city far enough away from the hurricane. I have an aunt in Sarasota and another aunt and uncle in the Ft. Lauderdale area so I'm subscribing in this time of climate change.
The best coverage. Thanks
Prayers for help quickly for the people 🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰
No wonder why a lot of insurance company are leaving and the one that stay are increasing the rate
hi from the netherlands . what a terrible chaos of milton
Thx 4 the amazing reporting pls be safe ❤
I appreciate you and for your support
Rebuild my man. You have skills. I seen the work that you did on the carport, you secured it properly.
Just remember, the property was given to you by your parents, now you owe the next generation. I know you will man up once the shocks over. I feel for you brother. You can do it.
I lived in this area for 16 years. I used to bike on Manasota Key every day! My grandparents had a mobile home in Englewood that was put on their land in 1972. It has survived all of these years without even flooding...now?? It's a different story! This is a very extreme change in weather and storms
Iam feel so sad for all the people in these towns God bless them all and thank you so much for your videos and for going out in these storms before and after
I’m so so sorry that you are going through this.
You have a poetic gift in your description of these things
Great perspective. Thank you.
Thanks, good work sir.
MY DEAR FLORIDA RESIDENTS, I WAS BORN AND RAISED HERE, ILOST POWER FOR ONE DAY - I AM SO SORRY, I LIVE IN A 5TH WHEEL AND I PRAYED SO HARD TO NOT LOSE MY HOME AND I DID NOT!
GOD WILL PREVAIL AND YOUR BETTER DAYS ARE COMING, JUST HOLD ON!
This is exceptional reporting. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
It a repeat of storms I couldn’t do that I love the ocean but to only visit and then leave. I love where I live and everyone has their choice. It’s lovely in Florida now so much damage it must be devastating to some that have to rebuild. Sorry for the loss of life my condolences to the families and loss of pets. I just couldn’t leave a pet never. I prayed for all and never thought it would be so bad. Wishing you all strength and healing from Colorado❤
Keep safe, praying for strength for all in Florida right now. We follow along on all our news channels right now. Love from Sweden
Very Good work, straight to the Source...
So glad Jay and his boat are okay!
Glad I was able to pop by to check in
My friend is elderly and could escape due to her husband being completely disabled. Im still waiting to hear from them. It’s so sad.
Absolutely Heartbreaking for these people 😭
Hi, I like very much your videos because they bring the reality. I am so so sorry for the people. Not everyone has the possibility to rebuild or to move. These were their houses. And please don't misunderstand me, but most of the houses were built with wooden walls, like beautiful doll houses. I was wondering about the owner of the sailing boat and fortunately he is safe.
🙏😭🙏😭🙏 I appreciate the work you do. Thank you.
After 24 years in Florida Oct 2023 left it forever. I had enough of with this craziness.
Understandable. I love living here though
Thank YOU God for answering prayers for the people of Tampa. Amen
Never doubt lt dan
