I don't know if you know this, Kevin, but you are saving many teacher's lives during this remote/hybrid learning time. Really a lifesaver! I've watch a ton of your videos and they helped myself and my colleagues tremendously. Thank you!!

It came out at perfect timing! Great help as well for ppl with some vision trouble with chasing the runaway cursor 👍😎😘

This is a nice feature. I used the AtoHotKey method which worked very well on my computer, but this morning I was teaching through Zoom and my students did not see the mouse cursor with the yellow halo. Some students complained about a big black box instead of the cursor so they did not see where on the screen I was clicking. I will try this out when teaching in the classroom.
When using Zoom, make sure to share a desktop or a screen instead of a program's specific window. If you share a program's specific window, then by definition Zoom will only cpature what belongs to that specific window, which the cursor highlight isn't.
Love that this video is concise and breaks into two parts (software/no software), plainly speaking, it cuts the BS, so thank you so much! Great and easy to follow!
Another awesome tutorial, Kevin. I normally try to find the shortest tutorials on TH-cam but I chose yours (quite a bit longer than I would normally watch) because you've proven to be an awesome, "no-fluff", teacher.
This is just what I needed for my online video lectures. Many thanks to you Kevin for your clear video, and many thanks to Prof. Luc Boisvert for his script.
Kevin, I really feel indebted because of your video on screen recording. I reactivated my channel after 04 long years after watching that video. Please keep enlightening us with your beautiful knowledge.
I watched an instruction video from Kevin sometime ago. This time, I searched for a similar topic on YT again and I got terrible videos, UNTIL I saw Kevin again, I knew he could help. Not disappointed as expected!
Thanks a million! Beautifully explained and demonstrated, both at the same time. I have been wanting this feature but just could not find it with so many features packed. Your explanation was simple, short and no repetition. Every word was information packed! Sign of a very good presenter. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this video. It's so helpfull especially with my poor eyesight. Your videos are so easy to follow and I'm 71 years old. Thank you Kevin.
You are great! I am the a-typical complete beginner type and struggle with basics at times. But with your videos, I always get it right the first time around! Brilliant!
Hi Kevin. I hope you are well. I have been following your channel for a couple of years now and I have learnt so much from you as you make every topic or demonstration so interesting and informative too. Please keep up your invaluable work. Thank You Kind Regards Gary (UK)
At first i got the highlight cursor for my online class, then I also downloaded this really cute bread cursor! I love this video and I love to customize everything on my computer!!
I don't know why people give thumbs down to such a useful video. Really this video is gem! Every online teacher will need this tool. Thank you for such a great video. I will be waiting for your future videos. I hope you are doing well. God bless you.
Thanks Kevin. Love all your tutorials, I’m learning so much that’s helping me in delivering my teaching online. A great experience for my learners too. Keep up the great work. Thanks again. Trevor.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for your videos, they are very helpful! Is there any way to show which mouse button was pressed? Is it possible to show that information near the mouse pointer and to set the duration of the message on screen? Best regards, A very early follower 😊
Thank you so much Kevin. I have been recording a few videos for my students and was struggling with this. I absolutely love your videos... (have learned 110% of MS Teams from them). You are good at what you do! Thanks for helping us teachers. God bless.
Thanks for the ton of info, for now I just wanted to show my pointer in my OBS slideshow, but I will play around with the other options. You have given me a lot of value over the last couple of years. Cheers!👋🐧
ZoomIt is great for that. it allows you to also add annotations with different colors, lines, squares, circles, while zoomed in or not. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/zoomit
You can try Microsoft's Zoomit to accomplish this. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/zoomit By using shortcut keys (listed in the download page) it's pretty easy to switch between zoom and normal mode (plus you can annotate the screen if you want).
The second option is indeed the best given that it gives the option of highlighter and focus and also hotkeys to switch between the two. Thanks a lot for this video.
May GOD bless you! I have been searching the Internet for a transparent cursor for a while. Thank you so much for the video; not only do I have a transparent cursor, but I can also control all its attributes. This is going to really help my online teaching. Perhaps the most important feature is the easy way we can turn on or off the cursor halo. Thanks again and Cheers!

The highlight is gone after every reboot. I work with two screens and an extended desktop. The highlighted mouse is caught in one of the screens and refuses to cross.
Obviously it will be because it's enabled by running a script. Is that much of a problem? Just add a shortcut to it somewhere, like how you'd open any other program (except one that autostarts on boot).

Well done. Thank You I have two follow up questions.: 1. Once I installed Auto Hotkey program and the Cursor Highlighter it all worked fine. Then I deleted the installation files, and after a reboot it all no longer works. I see the Auto Hotkey program under program files. Where could/should all the files be located, as I don't want them to remain in the downloads folder? UPDATED below. 2. Can it be made to load/run at Windows 11 start up? UPDATED below, the answer is yes it all works the same for Windows 11. Thank you again. UPDATES (from the Professor): Cursor Highlighter Installation Instructions: Download the latest version of “AutoHotkey” and “Cursor Highlighter” from the website, and install AutoHotkey first. Important to leave the files in the “Documents” folder for it to work.: Once you have installed AutoHotkey, you can put the .ahk file for Cursor Highlighter (and its associated .ini file) in any folder that has read/write permission. This is because the .ahk script needs to be able to read and save the settings in the .ini file. Good folders for this include your "Documents" folder or your "Desktop". To get Cursor Highlighter to load automatically at start up: 1. Keep the .ahk and .ini files in the folder that they are in right now so that you know that it works from this folder (or a good folder to put them in is your Documents folder). 2. Create a shortcut to the .ahk file by right-clicking on the .ahk file and selecting "Create shortcut". This should create a file of same name with "shortcut" at the end of the name. 3. Put this shortcut file in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp Works like a charm. And many thanks to the professor for emailing me these instructions.
I know I'm late to the party here, but I wanted to thank you for a clear and simple instructional video. These 2 options are both better than what I was previously using.
@ Kevin Stratvert you are totally incredible in explaining what you know in very short precise and clear manner and also you are so kind that you transmit such a knowledge for free .I have watched a lot of your videos .
Very helpful video, Kevin! I have started recording on OBS and when I searched how to highlight the cursor, this one came up. Thanks for putting this very high quality video together!
Hi Kevin, I was a bit hesitant to watch the video because compared to the rest of other videos, it's way longer, but it was worth it. I understand all the steps and the meaning behind them. It helps me have other options just in case I'm interested in different cursor styles. Thanks again.
This semester I started teaching an introduction to Blender course and whereas in the Blender Club I ran last year I was sitting with the students this course is taught in the computer lab with my desktop cast onto a big screen. After 2 classes I realized that I needed this. My thanks to both you and Professor Luc.
The highlight tool is great for showing how to read architectural blueprints, it really enhances the cursor. I really appreciate your videos. Takeoff Experts.
If I have exited the cursor highlighter from the system tray, it's kind of pain to remember where I stored the "Cursor Highlighter 2.2" ahk file every time I want to activate the yellow mouse pointer again. My easy solution was to simply create a shortcut to that file and drag to my desktop. I chose to shorten the title of the shortcut to read "Cursor Highlighter". So now when want the yellow cursor highlighter (if I have previously exited the program entirely), I just click the shortcut icon on my home screen. When I want to revert back to my standard cursor icon, I simply turn it off in the task bar tray. Easy on... Easy off! 👍 Thanks Kevin!
Kevin, your videos are so good, I wanna download them all and squirrel them away offline, just in case the internet scorches thru. Thank you for your fantastic work; you are an inspiration!
Forget that. It doesn't work when I am using my pen. The cursor is only highlighted on the desktop and around the ribbon area when using a pen. When the pen is over the writing area, it becomes an almost-invisible dot again...
@@annettecoppini7378 Hi Annette, Unfortunately, I don't know of any program that is able to track the pen cursor in the OneNote app (and, for that matter, in all other UWP apps). If you're interested, the highlighter works very well with the pen in the desktop version of OneNote, which is actually my favorite version (and is different from the OneNote app that you are using.)
@@boisvertlab1699 I use the desktop Onenote app tho. To be fair, I have only tried the first method in the video. Maybe I should try the second method too and see if that works

Thanks a lot!!! Literally I wanted to highlight my cursor for so long time like it has been a week and I found this Video....It really really helped me a lot!!!!!....thanks again. I am really very happy and Satisfied. It is a MASTERPIECE for sure...Thanks Again and again
Thanks, Kevin! In my work I do online presentations. In my personal life I have a weekly Zoom appointment with my 80 year-old mother, teaching her computer skills and helping her apply them to important tasks such as managing finances. Sometimes it's hard for Mom to see where the mouse is or follow it across the screen. This will help, for sure.
Thank you, Kevin! Great job. I now have a lovely blue highlight around all my cursors. A couple quick notes: * So critical to make sure you choose cursor downloads that are licensed for your intended use. I found the Read Me files or download screens were great at providing that info. Most business/education help desk Techs will ask before they will open the sacred admin account and add those lovely cursors. ** Renaming the cursor files with an underscore at the beginning is helpful to save having to dig through the long list of windows defaults in Mouse Settings.

UPDATES (from the Professor):
Cursor Highlighter Installation Instructions:
Download the latest version of “AutoHotkey” and “Cursor Highlighter” from the website, and install AutoHotkey first.
Important to leave the files in the “Documents” folder for it to work.:
Once you have installed AutoHotkey, you can put the .ahk file for Cursor Highlighter (and its associated .ini file) in any folder that has read/write permission. This is because the .ahk script needs to be able to read and save the settings in the .ini file. Good folders for this include your "Documents" folder or your "Desktop".
To get Cursor Highlighter to load automatically at start up:
3. Put this shortcut file in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

@@boisvertlab1699 I use the desktop Onenote app tho. To be fair, I have only tried the first method in the video. Maybe I should try the second method too and see if that works
@@annettecoppini7378 Indeed, the second method should work in OneNote desktop. Let me know if you want to try it and need any help!

thanks sir kevin.. love your videos, very informative and suited to educational demand this days...keep working, and be and inspiration.
Aaaah! Awesome Jonathan, mom is special!
Thanks, it was very easy to do, I downloaded the autohotkey version instead.
finally i got cursor highlighter😎👍
thanks kevin ...
Thank you, Kevin! Great job. I now have a lovely blue highlight around all my cursors.
A couple quick notes:
* So critical to make sure you choose cursor downloads that are licensed for your intended use. I found the Read Me files or download screens were great at providing that info. Most business/education help desk Techs will ask before they will open the sacred admin account and add those lovely cursors.
** Renaming the cursor files with an underscore at the beginning is helpful to save having to dig through the long list of windows defaults in Mouse Settings.
nice
This has been a super easy video to follow. Thank you for the tips, now I've got a halo cursor which will be helpful for my parents.
Wow! Thanks so much Kevin! You make everything so easy in all of your video tutorials!😊
This video was super useful! Currently developing a school concept that needed this. Thank you!
