@@BushCraftBums It's always my pleasure to stop by my friend. Like you, I also enjoy making these videos. I guess it's all about the passion we both have for being prepared for whatever may befall us. You stay blessed as well brother.
great tips. I'm just waiting to receive my wool blanket and a blanket pin and after I will definitely try these out. Thanks for sharing and all the best to you. -Matej
Excellent technique thanks for sharing bro you are a real Craftsmen keep up the great work thanks for sharing bye for now your brother from another mother keep looking up! And enjoying the playlist
I am a big fan of "Naked and Afraid",I often wondered why nobody takes a wool blanket as their one emergency item. Most times it is too wet for a fire, and they have to tap out, because of the cold. Wool stays warm when wet.
Hi there my friend! Thanks so much for watching and for the support! Good points! A wool blanket would definitely be on my short list of survival items! II really appreciate it! Stay Blessed!
Haha "got our blanket burrito all nice and tight" .....better spank it just to be sure Great vid man, its like a new take on the civil war era wool blanket "doghnut" back pack but with more freedom of movement for both arms
Perhaps it would be better if you didn't pack your water in the middle of things...it makes it hard access if you get thirsty, as you have to unpack the whole thing to get at the water bottle... perhaps a heavy duty construction garbage bag around the roll to keep things clean and dry(also doubles as an extra bit of protection should you need it, and, as you are worried about your tarp getting ripped, it isn't such a loss to lose a garbage bag, even if it is one that is industrial strength, and it adds almost no weight at all to your pack. Cheers!
Good tips.. this was more of a demonstrative vid on the versatility of a wool blanket rather than a tutorial on what to carry and how to carry it.. good feedback though. Thanks for watching! Have a blessed one
Idea for the blanket . take like 2 packs of snap buttons and run them down the sides like a sleeping bag style so you can wrap it around you like a sleeping bag and it won't come apart on you in the middle of the night. I got the idea from a backpack I bought it had no hip pockets so I used 2 old but packs I removed the straps and added the snap buttons to my belt and but packs for a hip belt pockets that wouldn't move on me when backpacking. Even a few snaps on the shoulder straps to add a small pouch to put stuff like. My phone and snacks for quick access.
Watching again as I play your playlist through your video list... on your 44th film of 90 (02/15/19). Hope you are having a fantastic day dear friend X)
Thanks so much for watching! That blanket was a little short,, I ended up using it to make n anorak. My new wool blanket is 60x80. I really appreciate the support! Stay blessed!

Okay that's a modern wool blanket it was made for in the military and interior interior use like saying a Barracks with a heating system not the old Trappers 17218 old blankets are really thick please look into the grading and adjust your video because people are thinking they can go into a snowstorm with a wool blanket modern blankets cannot handle that kind of cold I don't want people freezing to death because of bad information please research look into it and Adjust your video
If you get a piece of water proof canvas and use it as a water proof barrier things will go a lot better for you. 8 by 10 piece of water proof canvas will give you so many more shelter options to go with your wool blanket.
The pocket part at the end of the roll is a good idea, haven't seen that before. Good video!

Good stuff John, glad to see you doing vids again.
Thank you so much for checking us out, and for the continued encouragement.

I would recommend a ranger roll to wrap that up. You won’t need to tie it then and it would be a more compact roll.

you should try like a durable water proof light string bag to just slid it in too for comfort and efficiency

Ty for talking me along
BCUSA brought me here... nice channel!
Thank you! BCUSA is awesome. thanks for checkinf us out.
Question do the wool blanket itch you? I am allergic to wool but I bought it for emergency.
Instead of putting your tarp in the wool blanket, wouldn't you want to use it to wrap your wool blanket to keep it dry?
I use 2 of them...they pack good together
Awesome! Thanks again X)

Karamat wilderness!? Old school Ontario
Personal experience is wool blanket is heavy, itches and bulky. My preference is a good nylon poncho liner.
Not the wisest choice for sleeping near an open fire. LOL.

This is not the coat you’re looking for …
That's too much time and energy, I keep mine in a 20L dry bag then strap it to my pack.
