I have been curious as to you are training and using this hydration drink and this gel during training runs for a race. But what happens when that race isn't using what you use, and you don't have anyone who can crew you. Does one just stock up on gels and only take water or what.

Good question. So in the Sevilla Marathon earlier in 2022 they did not have maurten on the route, and I had no one to crew or pass me drinks. But I used a belt and carried several decathlon flexible flasks with the maurten 320 drink mix. So it can be done, but you have to carry it. And this is what I've done in training. The good thing about Berlin is they have the 160 drink mix on the course, and non elites also can have drink tables etc. So this time I won't have to carry all my fuel!

@@marcusruns9003 I was thinking about getting a smaller water bottle to carry on course from the start and when i'm done with it just dispose of it, and then gels will take me the rest. Now I am not doing 26.2, got a 10 miler and a half are my longest races left in the year, 10k i'm not concerned about. I do have soft flasks myself and they are awesome since I just shove them in my waist when empty, but I try to run as minimal as possible and carry nothing if I can, just make loops or out and backs and just use my car as the aid station. Maurten is good not the best on my stomach but it's my "2nd best" I'm glad it's sold here locally so if I am in a pinch I have access to something I know sits well on my stomach. I use First Endurance EFS-PRO, I sweat very heavily and the electrolyte levels are up in their product, and it's not ever given my stomach issues. You know I was told Maurten is what they had at Boston earlier in the year, is Maurten the drink at all the world majors?

@@Pittimus84 one thing to be mindful of with gels is keep moderate hydration, otherwise if you get dehydrated the gels can cause GI issues. But it’s practice that’s key. For Maurten I understand it’s Boston, Berlin but it’s not at all off them.
