You guys need to go and run in the Baltic countries when you get a chance. I just got back from running Vilnius Marathon (and ran Tallinn Marathon last year). Both are such great races and cities. I love running these races that nobody talks about and have had fantastic experiences compared to running where the masses flock to. You'll still have the city experience with great race organisation and crowd support.
I've been road-racing 10-15years ago. As I got older I started trail-running. And it's the thing I enjoy the most now. A lot of runners I used to run/race with back in those days stopped running. They just couldn't stand the loss of speed while getting older. For me, trail-running is a very good option to not bother about "my easy pace 10yrs ago is now my race pace" ;-)
Definitely a trailrunner. Have four planned for this year, 44k Freedomtrail to commemorate Operation Marketgarden, 60k Graef Castricumtrail, 58k Beartrail. And to finish it of 50mi Bello Gallico in December
