    That’s a nice solid project car, not much rust by uk standards. In uk the wood is available as a kit and precision cut so it doesn’t need lots of woodworking skill to fit it. A word of warning about the roof rack though. The rear roof panel is thin aluminium and won’t take a lot of weight. Hope you find a good home for it.

    Need to unscrew the caps on the carbs and put a drop of oil inside.

    Just to let you know, all parts for this are available in England, and even over here you should have no trouble sourcing any of the mechanical parts. If you need any help, answer this comment and I'll get i touch with you. The twin carbs suggest the engine may have been upgraded a bit. It would theoretically have a 950cc single carb engine. Any of the engines are fairly bulletproof and will tolerate quite a lot of abuse.

      If your short on anything mechanical, have a word with STEVE - "This week with cars" he has racks of Uk parts, running vehicles, non running parts cars all kept dry and inside his huge warehouse full of them. not so long ago he bought 6 Austin Healy sprites that have the same basic mechanicals.

    With your connections at McPhearson College - seems like this would be a worthy project for some students there to learn on. If someone was to purchase
    this vehicle from Mr. Goodpliers and pay for the parts and materials for restoration - would the college be interested in doing a restoration ? This would make
    an interesting video series to document the various stages of rebuild that many viewers would enjoy. I am in Florida but might consider an investment to
    make a project like this to happen. All aspects from mechanical to body work and woodwork would be interesting and beneficial to the students.

    Austin and Morris were not Rootes Group, it was later known as BMC, (British Motor Company). Rootes Group made the Hillman Minx, Hillman Imp, Sunbeam Rapier etc. Owned most of those models back in the day here in England. The Sunbeam Rapier was quite fast believe it or not

    Oh man the bad memories this brings a guy! I had some MM's back in the 80's and 90's.......spent lotsa time and $$ on the main project ('67 panel delivery). Dropped a 1275 MG engine in, backed up by a Datsun 5 spd trans. It was a good driving little eye catching rig on the rare occasions that it actually ran without breaking down.

    I'm English. I'm sorry, but these are the most boring of boremobiles of my childhood. Can you believe they were still selling these things new in the UK in about 1970? Long after the rest of the world had moved on, and about twenty years after they became obsolete. No wonder the Britsh motor industry failed!

  • @mattlevault5140
    @mattlevault5140 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I didn't read every comment... Did someone explain the dual glove boxes? These bodies were built for both domestic and export sales. That's why the speedo is in the center. For export to the US and some other countries, they put the steering gear and pedals on the left side. For domestic sales at home in England they put the steering gear on the correct side. 😆 As others have stated, the motor is likely from a mid 60's Midget - 1275cc. I drove a '67 Sprite for years. When they are running well they are super fun to drive. Very quick and nimble. They were designed to be owner serviceable, but you have to do something to them almost every week. I always tell people, if you ever want to get a really good car, don't get an MG... Also, did anyone mention putting light oil in those carburetor reservoirs? Seems odd but that's what goes in there...

    Minor clutch.....! Catches 'em out every first go! What a joy to see it run though after being dragged out of that storm barn. I have a '63 saloon (sedan), wouldn't sell it for gold, they are special little cars.

    Moggy minor. Is the English term. Moggy being a a old cat. Many rover v8 been put in these cars. With jag back axle. .big problem with these cars is the bottom ball joint breaks and wheels kick out. I am many on the side of the road like that. Or could be torsion bar rips out of chassis. Fun old car exported all around the world. Think they made three million total. Engine sound good. Bought back many memory's. wash it up. Don't dig to deep. You'll end up with a pile of rust. Good luck. Good video. .

    also how did you fit those wheels on the Morris Minor has a 101.6MM pcd which was quite a rare PCD
