That Chrysler Imperial. My dad had one of those, and when I was a kid, instead of getting an allowance, I was able to earn money by polishing his car. That thing took all day.

It' not a racing ambulance. Racetracks need an ambulance on site to be legallly allowed to put on a race. It's much cheaper to own the ambulance and hire part time qualified attendants than it is to pay for an ambulance and 2 full time paramedis to just sit for the day

The Fiat is a Toppolino Gardiniera (sometimes called a Gardinietta.) It was the car that preceded the famous Fiat 500 and they used to be all over the place in Italy as late as the 1980s/ early '90s in saloon/sedan form, though the Gardiniera was much rarer as the factory wooden body as seen with this car made them much more expensive to build and therefore much more expensive to buy. Definitely an unusual car and certainly so in the US or Canada as I didn't think the Gardiniera was ever officially sold there...

My friend has 200 acres north of SF and he keeps buying old Jeeps and other military vehicles. He has MBs through to civilian CJ2s, three M37s... list goes on. I have a 52 Korean War M37, my friend has a Canadian M37 with a 251 flathead (American issue like mine has a 230), I wanted to restore it but it needs everything and I found a decent one to start with. He needs to start selling or restoring or end up like yard hoarders. I would be happy with a bit more room to mess with unforseen jems. I rent two spaces at a storage place in my town for two I restored, one is an orange 71 240 Z.

The little grey sports car next to the woody station wagon at 1:29 looks very much like a late '40s/early '50s Austin A40 sports with alloy body by Jensen, a very rare and collectible car now. In front of it is an Austin A55 (Cambridge) Countryman, the first of the famous Farina series of cars built by BMC from the late '50s up to about 1970 in Austin, Morris, Wolseley, MG and Riley variants, though only the Austin (as here) and the Morris (Oxford Traveler) were available as estates/station wagons. An early 'big fin' Farina estate is a very rare car in Europe and highly prized among Farina fans...

+Curiosity Incorporated That's a very unusual car and pretty interesting. It would be worth having a look under the bonnet/hood as quite a few of these cars ended up fitted with performance equipment to boost the power of the little 1200cc B-Series engine and some of the performance kits they were fitted with are very rare and much sought after in the historic racing community and can be worth very big money even in as-found condition...

The truck cab at 1:11 isn't a cab over, it's what is often called a low cab forward or LCF. They were a cross between conventional bonnet/hood trucks and cab overs, the idea being to reduce the amount of space the engine took up in the chassis while still keeping the cab height low enough to enable them to access height restricted areas. Most of the survivors in this format are lighter trucks but I have seen pictures of tractor units in this format too. Cab overs, having the cab fully above the engine, are rather tall which can be a disadvantage if you need to access confined areas such as pick up or drop points that are within older buildings which were built with horse and cart in mind, and conventional trucks are longer which makes them much more difficult to position in confined spaces hence the LCF concept. They don't seem to have been hugely popular, but as relatively few operators had need of vehicles to operate in such confined spaces that is not a great surprise. The lighter versions, however, do seem to have been very popular for farming use where the ability to access barns and the like made them very useful. The LCF concept, however, does live on, with most manufacturers that offer cab over trucks also producing low line variants with smaller cabs that, in some cases, also have the cab floor shaped to sit around the engine rather than the flat floors most commonly seen today. Some manufacturers even go as far as to offer low line variants that have unique mechanical set ups such as flat or boxer engines, or where the engine and transmission sit much further back in the chassis/frame behind the cab and under the load body, these variants can often be seen operating in airports on servicing and maintenance of aircraft where the low cab height means they can get close to planes without there being any risk of the cab hitting and damaging the skin and air frame of the planes...

I have owned several LCF trucks the term LCF low cab forward and COE cab over engine are now interchangeable terms referring mostly to the big thee trucks produced from the late 1930s thru the mid 1960s tho there lesser known manufactures doing the same.

The Packard woody wagon doesn't look like a factory-produced car, what can be seen of the roof structure at the rear looks to be the work of a coachbuilder which suggests that this may well be a very rare car and possibly a one-off built for someone with very deep pockets and a desire for something that they couldn't get from Packard themselves. I would imagine it would be of great interest to Packard enthusiasts and although a challenging project it would be well worth restoring to have something no-one else does...

+Curiosity Incorporated It's certainly worth finding out. It's probably a project that is going to cost a lot of money to finish as any missing parts for the rear end may have to be made from scratch but that won't bother a real enthusiast who wants something truly different and potentially unique. There is also a very good chance that a very unusual car like this is going to have a very interesting history with interesting owners which, due to the car's rarity, may well be much easier to trace than with a standard car...

      Yes and no.
Consider that people that ever came in contact or know about this car are getting up in age, We are talking about an early 50ies (?) car, that was 60+ years ago

+sixpoint3 That's certainly true. Perhaps I should have said a more documented history. An unusual and possibly unique car like this is likely to have been photographed and recorded dozens of times and it is likely that people will have kept those records and will be going around wondering if the car still exists. And that does double if the car had interesting previous owners and was recorded with them...

It was more of a rhetorical question, as there is no such thing, unless you invent your own term, which you did, and then you can make it anything you want....
