There was way more negative effects than positive in this.

+Justin Ellis all the negatives are with the change and the positives are with the actual time change, so we should "spring ahead" in the spring, but then leave it there.

DST is pretty much pointless anymore with most things having photocells & motion detectors. Like my dad told me years ago that DST was for people to be able to play golf later in the afternoon in the warmer months. (you know he might have something there) The other reason why it was never done away with is most people didn't want roofers and other contractors working at 6am when it is already daylight. 9 to 5's want to sleep in because they don't get up till 8am.

I prefer year-round standard time because that's the true time and noon is noon. In Scotland this is even more useless because most places close at 6pm so it's a ghost town for 4 hours until the sun finally sets at 10pm which is too late considering our society is obsessed with getting up at 7am.

I don't go by it because it is a waste of time. They change their clocks here. After they change back the body goes back to it's regular routine.

I'm in the UK, I think we should use DST all year.
More people will find that hour of daylight helpful at 6pm in the winter rather than having it at 8am instead.

Most people doesn't here doesn't care. One reason is because they are up all hours of the night anyway. Policemen have to be on patrol 24 -7, so how does it benefit them. It is crazy.

In Hong Kong they also do not observe daylight saving time either.
    For Example:
    In the Summer:
    When it's 11:00 a.m. in Vancouver.
    It's 2:00 a.m. in Hong Kong.
    Or. In the Winter:
    When it's 11:00 a.m. in Vancouver.
    It's 3:00 a.m. in Hong Kong.

    • @tahmidabdin4625
      @tahmidabdin4625 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In winter
Hong Kong is 16 hours later than Vancouver BC
      8am Tuesday in Vancouver
      12am Wednesday in Hong Kong
      In summer
Hong Kong is 15 hours later than Vancouver
Hong Kong uses GMT+8 all year
Vancouver is GMT -8 in winter
      And-7 in summer

People keep talking about making it permanent, but we're still changing our clocks.
I actually don't care, and hope it doesn't become permanent. (the same with standard time becoming permanent, which most people would prefer)
Where I live, this is what things are like now.
    Winter months::
    8:01 AM
    Thursday, December 21, 2023 (EST)
    5:05 PM
    Thursday, December 21, 2023 (EST)
If daylight saving time was permanent:
    9:01 AM
    Thursday, December 21, 2023 (EST)
    6:05 PM
    Thursday, December 21, 2023 (EST)
I don't know about the evenings, but 9:01 is too late for sunrise, imo.
    Summer months:
    5:58 AM
    Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
    9:16 PM
    Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
If standard time was permanent: (which is what most people would rather have)
    4:58 AM
    Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
    8:16 PM
    Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
I don't know about the evenings, but 4:58 is too early for sunrise, imo.
I say stick to changing our clocks, even if it's a hassle. It's the only way to get the right amount of daylight in the mornings all year round. The only part of the world that shouldn't have to worry about that is everywhere closest to the equator.

I still am not understanding how "setting the clock forward" 'or "backward" makes the sun either stay an hour longer or go away an hour faster. I recognize a regular day to be when it starts to get dark outside around 8pm. How is the sun disappearing earlier than usual? I don't get it! & what national clock are we simultaneously using to "set time" with here? Someone explain!
