    I MADE IT! this is the first bag with curves that I made successfully without a bunch of pleats. Also my first successful binding bag!! 🎉🎉🎉

    I just made this, but would suggest a slightly wider binding than 3/4”; and possibly a 1/8” extra d-ring tab length to avoid the hardware when sewing - it was quite tight even with a zipper foot so a little extra length would help at the seams. I’d also say maybe adding a magnetic snap on the rear slip pocket to line up with the d-ring from the top when not in use as it’s quite big and you could lose stuff when swinging the bag off (as I did).

    This bag is
    Strap-tastic .. I’m going for all
    the options. A Kandou pattern + a Jess tutorial is always a winning combo.. picked up my pattern last week and now deciding on my fabric. 😁

    To flatten those seams after pressing, try a tailor's clapper. Seams are nice and flat and fingers remain unburned! This is such a cute pattern - I'm going to have to make it. Thank you, Jess!

    I see that you're using a zipper foot through all the process. One thing that helped me a lot when sewing bags, when I'm 100% sure I won't need another stitch than the straight one, was to change my sewing machine foot to one of those meant for industrial straight machines. "15c" to be exact. You lose half the grip because the narrow foot won't cover all the teeth, but you have a lot more control when sewing round corners.

    @Jess OlkaRoots, you could probably get away with one 50 inch strap for the backpack setup if you put three belt loops on the lower back of the bag. I think that might be long enough to wear comfortably as a backpack

  • @somethingnostalgic
    @somethingnostalgic ปีที่แล้ว

    This video was excellent! Last bag I made I had so much access fabric but this time it was great! Those little center cuts really make a difference. I messed up on the binding inside. Instead of being logical and sewing with the back down, I tried with the bag up... wasn't pretty but with it being inside, you can't see it. I have a question I hope someone can answer tho: do you need to use binding (bias) tape inside or if you have a serger would that work just as well?

    I love this and plan to make them with matching tumblers and book sleeves for my 4 daughters, 4 grandaughters, sister, mom and myself. I would love if the front had a front pocket that opened similar to the fancy wallet so I didn't have to carry a wallet too. Now where to find the perfect coordinating fabrics?

    Why do you put your clips with the flat side facing up? I find that placing the flat side down the foot rides much better all the way down. It is also much easier for me to take the clips out if I need to. Kiki Myers

    Hi Jess - I am making this now, but do not need a crossbody option. I need your opinion since you have already made it 😅
    If I want to do just ONE strap, that would serve as a sling and backpack (slipping the strap THROUGH the top D ring for a backpack option) - how long would you suggest cutting the webbing - would a 54” length be long enough as a backpack? - I hope this makes sense 😂
    I guess I’ll probably just need to cut some fabric strips as if it were webbing to try it out in different lengths.
