@@CreaturaVioleta He gave the title of 3rd best game of 2023 to Shadows Of Doubt, an Early Access game. He gave the title of 2nd best game of the year in 2020 to Hades, which hadn't gotten it's complete Physical Edition on Switch yet. He reviewed both Fortnite & Fall Guys back when they were both still technically in beta. Early Access games have been on the table for a while.
Golden Heads. They should've called it Golden Heads. We're literally eagerly and gleefully chasing golden heads, and as far as I can remember, there's a perfectly good reason for it. Why not?
It's odd to say this about a game where you kind of get the point within 15 minutes of playing it and it doesn't really surprise you after that, but I love buckshot roulette so much. The aesthetic is so pleasing to the eyes and ears, they put so much love into the details, and if it wasn't about literally shooting yourself in the face it feels like something that would come free as a PC game back when computers had pinball and other free mini games installed. Also you can get it for basically a dollar. I want everyone to get this game if they're even mildly interested because it really is the epitome of simple but brilliant.
Children of the Sun's gameplay does evolve, I guess the first hour doesn't quite show it off enough. IMO it could have even done with a few more missions, but it's length is pretty good.
Yahtzee plays a game called "children of the sun" about murdering cultists with sun logos all over them. It takes until he sees a literal sign for their compound to realise that's the cults name.
Calling them "quips" or "humor", based on the ones I've heard, is a bit of a stretch. Gallows humor can be dark and dry, but usually serves to try and be funny to offset the impending feeling of doom. Some of these are... just statements.
I played Buckshot Roulette for about 4 hours, and I've beaten Children of the Sun. Buckshot is some silly stuff that I can laugh about for a few hours every few months, and Children is one of my favorite games of the year so far along with Pepper Grinder. Haven't gotten Helldivers 2 yet so, yeah. Also, can we get some support for Maniac? A fantastic early access game that I want to succeed so badly!
What's funny is that there was a TTRPG called Children of the Sun some years back that never really went anywhere, but was notable for two reasons. First, the creator decided to have something like 10,000 printed, with the result that I was seeing copies on the discount shelf at Origins for a decade after publication, and second the map in the game looked like, well, a vagina. Very weird.
Im a simple man i hear a small snipet from a simpsons episode i believe its the one where Liza needs braces i give the video a thumb up. Its also an instant thumb up seeing behind the scenes footage of Yahtzee talking with his friends at SW. I kind of wish Buckshot Roulette had the didi mao guy from the deer hunter.
Children of the Sun sure did remind me of Killer7. I don't know why, but maybe how the player character runs with his rifle might have something to do with it.
Character movement's on rails, you can't run *and* gun, and the style is pretty off-kilter-just like killer7, and to a lesser extent other Grasshopper Manufacture games like NMH3 (the KILL/DEAD screen at the end of levels).
there really needs to be a hitman-like game that doubles as a post-dad game. You do the kill objectives but then you also have to come in as the cleaning crew afterwards. The better you execute the kill, the simpler the cleanup. Add side objectives unrelated to the kill for both roles and bingo bango you have a game. prolly.
A game which focuses on stealth as a mechanic I think yahtzee would enjoy aragami and aragami 2, both games where you play as a ninja stealthily sneaking around with a variety of different enemies, maps which get more complex and power ups which help your stealth
Speaking of stealth only games. Yahtzee have you tried aragami? I don’t remember if you tried it on the last channel but it’s the stealth game you’re looking for. Stealth is required and the shadow thing is played just like Ereban
I really liked CHILDREN OF THE SUN. Played it to the end. In fact, my only complaint is the length. This feels like kind of game where you could potentially have hundreds of custom made levels and play for hours.
Fun Buckshot Roulette Fact, it's actually never advantageous to shoot yourself unless you're certain it's a blank, because of the way the dealer ai works. (Probability-wise, anyway) (Actually I think it gets a little bit more complicated with items, but it's still pretty specific)
Children of the sun is in my wishlist, the only reason I don't buy it right now, is because I have to finish other 100 games first, and even before of that I must first overcome my addiction to Balatro.
buckshot roulette is for me a perfekt game basic game has a strategy you caan figure out too improve your wins. it then gives more features too givew more complexity it increases the difficulty with more shells and after all that: IT ENDS. no needless grind or long dialogue. it does what it wants to do and then finishes once it did it thing
Any chance of putting a suicide/gun violence content warning on this for Buckshot Roulette? I know the game is ridiculous but the visual on self-aiming is still fucking ghoulish.
Oh, damn, Ereban is out? I remember seeing it at some game show or another (either Game Awards or Summer Fest) then heard nothing about it. Looks like it's been out for 10 days already. Completely unrelated, but I just realized that Yathzee is right in the middle of Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman in terms of both mannerisms and facial hair.
4:19 funnily enough, the indie game ULTRAKILL has a secret level where you do just that. It's a fairly normal slaughter-fest of a level. Up until you get to the exit door and the game gives you a power washer and vacuum and demands you to clean up all of the bloodstains and scattered viscera you left in your wake before you can exit the level.
I got buckshot roulette, very hype game. Children of the Sun looks like something I want next. The other two aren't particularly up my alley. CSC doesn't seem as janky and funny as VCD or as smooth and satisfying as Power Washer Simulator. Ereban: Shadow Legacy has an interesting protagonist design but the robots don't look satisfying to take down and the scene where the protagonist blindly thinks they're not going to be tortured by the corpos also turns me off.
I remember you saying that you were never a fan of the Splinter Cell series Yahtzee despite liking the stealth genre, maybe there's a video there. Especially considering you never covered the series except for the crappy iteration.
Sorry, little bit off topic. People working in the games industry really need to unionize. Something similar to SAG-AFTRA. What is the worst thing that can happen? They lay you off? Hah!
Ok, idk if this has been answered before but: will the games featured in this series also qualify for the Best, Worst and Blandest at the end of the year?
My favourite Stealth Game is still Stolen... good luck getting working these days, though. Like a lot of good games, it's an old one. Maybe call 'Children of the Sun' the 'Sentient Bullet Saga'?
3:27 I watched you play this Yahtzee, and you ignored almost all of the tutorial. It was right there on the screen, relatively unobtrusive, or you just skipped through. Idk if you have any right to comment on it. 😂

Check out Roombo, which is a little game where you're a robot vacuum cleaner killing burglars and then cleaning up after your kills
How have I missed the edited Yahtzee Tries videos until now? This is great.
Every other Sunday!
That just means a great playlist to get through 👌🏾
Maybe the thing about doing the murder and the clean-up is that you're basically roleplaying a serial killer at that point.
I wouldn't mind a game like that
And? What's wrong with that?
Yes, exactly. Someone do that. And have them give Garrett-esque sarcastic remarks as you tidy your victim's home back up.
Natural consumption progression from the glut of true crime podcasts 😂
And that would be fun.

This audio but played over of the bullet shots from Korn's 'Freak on a Leash' video.
Yatzhee doing voices while the bullets fly reminds me of a demented version of the cartoon bullets from Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
Nice! I got 'Eyelander' vibes when he kept talking about heads. Know what I mean?
It's somehow also super relatable.

12:22 When Yahtzee's making goofy bullet noises like a 5-year old I can't help but grin.

Loved the random out-of-context bits at the end. A lovely garnish on the video meal.
Great supercut of Bullet BRRRRM at the end. Kind of supports a lot the arguments about why the game is good.
The bullet montage from 12:22 on has strong Evil Dead vibes.
Best closing credits ever!! This! omf did I laugh til it hurt!
Nice Simpsons reference with the British smiles thing 😀
I'm glad the editor understood the value of Nick's "this looks like Anime" soundbite and the potential power it can hold by including it twice.

ultrakill level 7-s [spoilers] has the whole "do a crime and then clean it up" concept
The average British dental health passed that of the USA in the 1990s... so the repeated American jokes about it are somewhat ironic these days.
You posting accusing two *very* English people of being American over a joke is choice
