- We went on a Baja trip with Overland Bound. We've had many adventures in Baja, but this is our first trip with a group like this. We drive from San Felipe to San Jose, off-roading and camping along the way. The expedition includes Michael and Cory of Overland Bound and Jake of iamjake. You can see their edits of this trip on their channels linked below.
Overland Bound: • Overland Baja Pt. 01 -...

One of your best videos yet. I really need to get back to Baja.
That's how I feel every time we leave 😁
Excellent video, thanks heaps! Blue beauty is tuff and just keeps on going
Yeah, couldn't ask for more from a 26 year old truck that we bought for $2500 usd.
I was cracking up about how blue keep rollin and the high dollar rigs were taking craps!🤣😂🤣😂🤣
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal Blue Beauty is a real gem! We are waiting for the new truck build videos!
@@ChrisTovahsAmazingAdventures I have finally started the new build! videos will be coming soon
I admire your life style 😘
We love your channel so MUCH! You were actually the reason that we decided to start a TH-cam channel to document our adventures as we move to Nicaragua. We can't wait to follow along on your next big trip adventure. Thank you.
Cool. Have fun. Don't let the channel overshadow the experience. Enjoy Nicaragua!
Top 3 video can't wait for the next one
I love and miss Baja
My Baja
I miss "my baja" too.
but time marches on...
When U had “dirt bags” on there I almost spit all my food out!!🤣😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣😂😂🤣🤣😂. LOVE IT!!
😂😊
That whale shot was dope!
Appreciate the video! We're possibly hitting up Baja next January so was nice to see all of the great spots along the way. You had us at the tacos in the beginning btw. :)
A man with his priorities straight. TACOS! 😂
Hope you get down there and have a good time Greg.
Yes, one of the most difficult things to do. Go fast and see everything.... the balance is difficult.
slowness of groups is why i go solo
Look forward to viewing more of your videos! We're out of the Nor'east (New Hampshire) and only made it as far as NOLA last Feb (working the Gulf Coast) when the timing chain went in the truck... We hope to pick it up again this winter and continue westward into Baja! Informational and entertaining. Nicely done!
Thanks!
Hope you have a fun trip and everyone (including the truck) stays happy and healthy
What a great caravan! Is this a recent trip? You guys inspired us to drive down to Mexico with your first videos. We were in Mexico for 15 months from late 2018 thru early 2020 and are wondering if driving down is different in C-19 times. You all seem to be living like normal. Awesome! Love seeing Jagger's sweet old face:)
Pre covid-19
Sounds like you had a fantastic trip.
This video was shot pre-covid, but we have been back to Baja and things are similar to what we have going on in California.(spread out seating at restaurants, hand sanitizer at store entrance, wear a mask in public) We have not been anywhere else in Mexico since Covid so can't speak to that.
Pretty rad.
Nice trip. That Santispac is one of my favorite places on earth
Thanks. We can't get enough Baja. So fortunate to have easy access to this special part of the world!
Taking off to Baja Sur on Saturday. Definitely taking your tips with us !
Have fun!
come to Escapar a la Baja
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal It was great 😎
@@TheJournalofLostTime I'll definitely check it out 💥
Appreciate you adding the stop to get gas. Everyone else on TH-cam never seem to need to gas up. This was a great video and I'm now a New subscriber. Did I mention what an amazing trip that was, wish I would have been there. One day.
Thanks. Glad to have you aboard. The gas stops are always a consideration, but even more so with the group travel. Pretty funny when you roll up to a station that only has 2 pumps and you're in a 6 car convoy 😅 lots of time to stretch the legs😁
Love the video! Looks like an amazing trip! Mason is my uncle and sent this to me...now subscribed.
Nice! That dude is a hoot around the campfire. Good guy.
Welcome aboard!
Gracias Amigos!
Must take forever to pack and unpack!
Definitely something to be considered in rig design. If we are just trying to stop to sleep for the night we just park and go to bed, but if we are setting up our whole camp it takes 10-15 minuets (we have lots of practice) if we're get out the kayak, surfboards, fishing gear, and hammocks it take a couple beers 😅
Yesssssss!!!!! How many miles now, guys. Blue beauty is a beast:) just about to.roll.over 200k on my 01 tundra, scout, and I always say. Hey, blue beauty did it, we can too! Much love, ash
Right on Ash! Blue is clocking in around 255,000 miles. 01 tundra is a nice truck. Have fun!
Will there be a follow up video of surfing the pacific side on your way back up? Great video!
Truth is, I haven't decided. our trip north was a bit convoluted and involved a lot more editing at trailer parks than we normally did, or will ever do again😅 So, I may choose not to try to edit it into something worth watching.
But don't fear. We absolutely scored on a trip a couple months ago and will definitely be sharing that adventure with you
Great to hear y’all scored. We hope to be down there this summer looking for waves.
@@jamiecamp4014 Nice! We haven't been able to do a summer trip for a few years due to my work schedule, but it's generally the less crowded time of year👍 Have fun!
Great video! Heading down in October for our first trip. Any chance you could share the coordinates for the first location you guys pulled into on night 1?
Sorry, but I'm not into sharing coordinates. I like to leave a little room for individual exploration. There are lots of options in the San Felipe area though. Almost every beach in that area has a campground of some sort.
Nice video...🙄👍
Hey, love you videos! Just wondering do you guys use a GPS device for navigation in Baja? Thanks
I have a simple handheld Garmin with basic maps. I don't really navigate with it much, but I do set it to leave a track when we are going remote in new areas so that we can follow our track back out if we get lost enough😅
Not necessary. Just get the Benchmark Map and you'll be fine
Got to start off with some Mexican tacos!
Love your videos. Did the guy driving the fj never air down?
This group was airing down and airing up every chance they got.😂😂😂
He just had that thing weighed down and trailers are like anchors in the sand. Though, I think he was only dropping down to around 22 psi. Maybe if he dropped way down to 10psi, he would have had more luck. would have been neat to experiment.
What did that halibut hit? I'm assuming some sort of soft plastic.?.? Really want to explore Baja next January and February 🤞
@@travisoates6645 Yep. A white grub with a red leadhead. Crocodiles are also very popular for shore casting down there
Not trying to hook one of those
10:29 into the video... "Awwwww, shit! That's my jam!!!!"
Yep!
Did Matt quit surfing??? How do you convince him to take a non-surfing related trip? It's good for the soul. Kudos...
She convinces me to get out of the water from time to time, but I definitely drug her back over to the pacific coast as soon as we left the Overland Bound convoy. 😁
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal 🤣😂🤣
When is this happening again? And where do I sign up? Great video
Haha. I've considered offering a guided overland trip in Baja, but even with the nice group of folks we had on this trip and no real problems arising, it was still challenging to keep everyone stumbling in the same direction 😅
beautiful trip- quite jealous! what was the structure @ 5:28? any ideas?
I would guess, someone's house. Lots of unfinished and abandoned structures in Mexico for some reason.
Holy cow welcome back
How is the maintenance on the T100 coming?
We will be installing bilstein shocks (your recommendation)
New brakes front and rear
New front axle shafts
Hubs that will be next week
We just installed new door latches
And the doors close properly now and dont rattle anymore
Hope yall are doing well
Waiting for better weather for some weekend warrior trekking
Solid list of projects. Make sure to have a look at the steering while you have the front end in the air. The only reoccurring issue I've been having with the T is wearing out idler arms. Maybe once my welding improves I'll try to make a more reliable one.
Rear axle bearings and seals ☑️
AC control switch☑️
engine oil/filter☑️
grease fridge slide☑️
I've got a bunch more to do, but I am going to do it as part of the camper-rebuild since I will be removing the bed and making changes to the suspension as part of that process. projects include:
Replace the tired throttle body
Replace every bushing in the suspension
build a new cat-back exhaust
prep n paint frame, rear axle, a-arms, ect. to combat rust
new leaf springs
new rear shocks
I'm sure there's lots more... but we'll see how well the motivation holds up 😅
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal thank you so much i will look into the steering
Our project doesnt dent all that you are doing, holy cow i would love to do the bushings but it just seems overwhelming
Maybe if its just some main ones we can do it
But who knows when i do a full lock turn both sozes i get what sounds like bushing creaking
But it could be something else in the steering you mentioned
Now my investigation juices are flowing
When my parents bought this rig at Ventura Toyota in 1996 never thought id be just maintaining it 25 years later
@@yeahman1975 So cool that it's been in the family that long!
If you are at full lock turn the steering stops will rub and make an awful sound(mine do). The little plastic caps that prevented the metal on metal contact would have worn through and fallen off long ago. Hopefully that's the source of your sound and nothing to be concerned about.
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal that would be great if its just that
Thank you
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal Hope you'll be documenting those mods for us to watch and get inspired. My 15 y/o Tacoma is just a young one compared to Mr.T . Exciting videos to come I'm sure. =)
Question. Do beaches and other free public campsites in Mexico have stay limits like how in the US you have to leave BLM land after 14 days?
As a general rule, no. But each area will have a different expectation. Lots of areas have consignments that give use rights to an individual or community and they get to make the rules including charging you or asking you to leave. In remote areas where people don't regularly camp, you'll probably be left alone.
@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal gracias!
Annie is better than traction boards
😂 In so many ways!
Time to show the way down there making trips and make money
Dirt bags lol.
