      @@Fab92-s6x I'm old enough to remember the same nonsense was said about the PLO before hamas ever existed. What you have is what people call selective memory. The PLO had long proposed a 2 state solution which Israel was never interested in for 2 reasons: 1) security concerns 2) zionist extremists (many of whom backed by zionists and evangelists in the US) want control and sovereignty over all of Palestinian territories (as evidenced by countless settlements surrounding Palestinian towns and cities making a 2 state solution impossible today). These are of course against international law but why should we give a rats ass about internation law or the UN.... the same body that proposed a state of Israel. What is tiresome of this debate is that there is no symmetry in negotiations: One side is powerful and is backed by the empire, and the other has little to no negotiation power. One side is the occupier and oppressor and has all the power.... that is all we need to know.

    • @Fab92-s6x
      @Fab92-s6x 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Zeidinho of course Israel has security concerns I can totally understand: A Palestinian state means a state with military power. Palestinians will never accept a state without the destruction of Israel and a genocide they would take into account (From the river to the sea....); so they would compromise but the maingoal is the end of Zionism. The funny thing is Israel offered a Palestinian state 9 times and everytime Palestinians answered with terror because in these offerings Jews still would have an own state. Israel shows a reaching hand for peace, Palestine answers with blood. Israel had to much patience with the Palestinians and their ingratitude and now Palestinians pay a huge price for that

    Offensive and stupid title. I've heard Eric's argument many times before: "Israel offered them a state. They rejected it. They don't want a state; they want us all dead. You can't negotiate with them. They are monsters/addled by religion/hate, etc." Eric cannot simply wave away international law because he thinks the Palestinians should have accepted the not-very-attractive "state" Israel offered, while it carried on annexing Palestinian land. The unavoidable facts are that the Palestinians are the rightful owners of land that is occupied by Israel, Israel is in violation of international law, and the fates of Israel and the Palestinians are bound together. If Israel wants peace and security more than it wants to take all the land, which appears doubtful, it will have to make an offer that is actually attractive to the other side -- just like in any negotiation.

    Gaza has a population of 2.2 million, receives vastly more foreign aid per person than any part of the planet, and Hamas has a standing full time army of over 40,000 men.

Its not a right to enter Israel, its a priviledge just like its the same to enter the USA. You think there is no backstory to these border points or the wall in Gaza or the wall surrounding Israel. They are a protection against terror - car rammers, people who stab Jews randonmly, people who blow themselves up ie the intifada 20 years ago. They have every right to protect themselves. Gaza was wall free in 2005. It was erected to stop maniacs walk across the border screaming AA with AXES in their hands. Its just sooo simple to understand and I have no skin in the game whatsoever.

They are Palestinians and not the same as a Saudi, Lebanese, Iraqi.... Also, anyone knows that the sticking point of all peace talks is the right of return enshrined in UN Resolution 194 passed in 1948 after Palestinians were forced off their land by Zionist terrorist groups like Irgun, Hagganah and Stern Gang. If EUROPEAN Jews could get restitution after WW2, and subsequently take Palestinian land, why cant Palestinians after the Nakba? And people that listen to these longform interviews can definitely come up with ideas on our own. That’s why were here not to learn so much as to remind ourselves that we’re not crazy and our instincts are correct. Now the Arabs can jump up and down and stomp their feet and say the land belongs to them. Nope it doesn’t.

      @@Alex-xi3bw It's more complicated than just, "The Palestinians were there first." Israel was the Jewish homeland a long time ago, was conquered by the Romans, who later tossed the Jews out because they caused too much trouble. What follows is a long history of one empire or another "owning" the land, ending with the British in the first half of the 20th century. Some Jews lived there under the British, as did some Muslims.
      After WWII, the British kept control of the land. The Zionist movement wanted a Jewish homeland, and they wanted their old land (from 1900 years ago) back. Bear in mind that Jews had not had a homeland since they were dispossessed by the Romans. There was a long, complicated process whereby the "Palestine" issue was decided by the British and ultimately the UN. And yes, the Brits did offer a dual state solution to take into account the non-Jews living there, which was, as lari5891 says, was refused.
      It's an interesting question to ask why the Palestinians and the surrounding Arab states didn't try to throw out the infidel British, but did try to do so with the Jews. Probably because they thought they could beat the Jews, or maybe they have some special antipathy to Jews -- as many other groups seem to.
      Bill Maher said something interesting last week. "If Hamas laid down its arms, there would be peace. If Israel laid down its arms, there would be no Jews living in the Middle East."
      The only sane solution to the issue is two states. If you could get the Jews to leave Palestine, who would give them a state? So, it's more likely the two states would need to be in Palestine. Not going to happen, because sanity is in short supply these days.

Do we only call Italians, French, Brits, etc.. "European" when talking about those ethnicities? Give Palestinians the same respect. Gaza is occupied... by Hamas, a terrorist group who has embedded their military sites into the civilian infrastructure ensuring mutually assured destruction for Gazans even if they don't support the resistance. Also, they repress any dissenting voices and operate illegal drug and arms trades, and are more of a gang than some dignified guerilla army org. Also, their top brass isn't even suffering along with everyday Gazans, they are wining and dining in Gulf countries -- they have a financial interest in keeping Gazans suffering to keep the cash rolling in for their b.s cause.
