Taking them only compounds the problem instead of solving the reason you have anxiety in the first place. Anxiety is a normal part of life, better to deal with it head on. You will find out sooner or later, one way or another. The doctor wants you on drugs because it's a business not because it will fix you. It might help in the moment but it only compounds the issue. You can't take pills forever, sooner or later your world will implode.

    I've been addicted to probably most of them lol. Long story short: don't. Withdrawal is excruciatingly painful, then you loose the ability to sleep for a few months, and since benzos tend to suppress the REM phases of sleep (which apparently the brain needs), once you finally can sleep again, it's non-stop hyperrealitic nightmares for possibly years while the brain catches up with its lost REM. Everything has a price. Also you will have months or years disappearing from your memory, as if you weren't there. Many people come to their senses in the hospital or in prison, with no idea whatsoever why. Ah, and that's one of the very few classes of drugs with which sudden discontinuation of use can cause death. And tbh even if you don't die you kinda wish you would. It's really really bad beyond words. Careful with this one folks ;)

    • @jackofalltrades3378
      @jackofalltrades3378 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      As long as you don't abuse benzodiazepines, it's going to be fine. The benzodiazepinesawal is definitely worse than opioids and nobody should take benzos for more than a couple months. Most people become dependent when they take them for too long, but they seldom become ADDICTED as there is a huge difference between addiction and dependence.

      @fmdj หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jackofalltrades3378 TL;DR: Yes.
      >> Slightly more elaborated reply: ⤵️
      yes indeed, you can totally make a distinction between being addicted and beeing dependent, and I'd say being dependent is worse, because even if you want to quit, it's very hard to do so in practice.
      Compare with cigarettes : I can't remember my source, but iirc nicotine is said to be one of the most addictive substances there are. But it causes no dependence. To me quitting smoking has never been a big problem. Not smoking is not gonna make you shiver and cry on your bed in the dark in total psychosis for weeks, all the while knowing very well that all that pain could go away in a matter of a few minutes if you took "just one more"... Dependence sucks.
      Addiction to benzos is probably less common than pure dependence indeed, but whatever the substance, if I had the choice, I'd be addicted rather than dependent.
      Of course in my initial comment I'm talking about the worst case scenario. Because I know from experience (been to (too) many a rehab...) that there are way too many people who are totally unaware of how dreadful benzo dependence is when they start using (probably less true of the audience of this channel but who knows...), so I wanna make it absolutely clear to the uninformed viewers of this video (if any) how horrible benzo dependence (or addiction) can be.
      Yes you may not become addicted, but if you become addicted you have very little chances of not becoming dependent. And I'd argue that if you're dependent then addiction is just one small step away, because you will want to use all the time, if only to make the pain go away... and preventing the withdrawal symptoms is gonna be your main preoccupation, day and (sleepless) night, the only relief you can think about being benzos. This is not very far from addiction, or *is* addiction, depending on how you define addiction.
      Lastly, now that I've done my best to discourage benzo use, yes of course there is a proper, safe way to use benzos (ideally prescribed ones). But even some doctors do not know that they are condemning their patients to hell when they are over-prescribing benzos.
      Like you said, therapeutic (or otherwise...) benzo use should be kept to a couple of weeks max and then probably a few months break.
      Benzos are like a garrot, they fix the most pressing issue instantly (not bleeding to death), but leave it on for too long and you will loose the limb. With benzos in this analogy the limb would be your brain, and I have it on good authority that it's bad not to have one any longer ;)
      Lastly, quitting benzos without much pain is perfectly doable too, by slow and rigorous tapering off and, to that purpose, using a benzo with as long of a half life as you can get instead of the one you're dependent on, I've done it a bunch of times in addition to the horrible cold-turkey ones. But you should do that under close medical supervision. Mere willpower is not gonna be enough in many cases. You need a trained someone to help you stay on track with your taper schedule, and to talk with about all the dreadful things which are gonna start popping into your brain randomly and torture you psychologically.

      Of course benzos can be used responsibly, and they are very useful, but they are abused a huge lot too, and many patients are totally unaware of what they may face if they become dependent...
      Benzos are like a garrot to stop an hemorrhagy: excellent, instant resolution of the issue... But the garrot on for too long and you'll lose the limb.

    A nice trick for producing (fairly) anhydrous ammonium acetate on demand: Prepare a near-saturated solution of wet ammonium acetate in 3:1 acetic anhydride/glacial acetic acid and allow to stand for a day or two. As needed, pipette portions of this solution into a large excess of anhydrous diethyl ether. The ammonium acetate precipitates out over 5-10 minutes at room temperature and can be collected by filtration and washed with ether.
    Acetic acid and acetic anhydride both have decent solubility in diethyl ether, but ammonium acetate doesn't.

    Damn! I am impressed. You have good skills to be able to perform this synthesis. As far as benzos are concerned, they are highly addictive. But they can serve an essential function for minimizing anxiety. If you are prescribed them just make sure you minimize your use, both dosage and frequency. And switch off completely on a periodic basis to try to minimize your dependency. If you use high dosages for a couple of years straight any sudden withdrawal is going to be severely uncomfortable and painful. That's why the best use if you have to at all is for very short term in response to some stressful life event rather than as a daily coping mechanism for dealing with life in general. I am a very hyperactive person with an extremely high metabolism and nervousness. But in addition, growing up I was exposed to very stressful events and situations at a very young age. I became very withdrawn and uncomfortable in any social setting. I was not confident in opening up to other people unless I used an artificial substance to relax myself and reduce my anxiety.

      and It was forced against my will to come off them.. Aggressive taper.. was terrified because of everything I'd heard..
      I won't say zero withdrawal but now where near as bad as what people said.. Maybe it is because the vast majority of people on them have anxiety disorders so its a demographic that is inclined to suffer ill feeling.. (and I do admit the rebound anxiety once I came off them was very unpleasant and I do believe I should never have been forced off them (but where I was staying for a year I didn't even have access to a proper doctor let alone my mental health team, so it ended up having to be that way..
      But rebound anxiety is different from physical withdraws.. Clearly not everybody finds them that addictive

    As someone with anxiety, I'm gonna push back hard on the intro. While they solve the feeling of anxiety at first, they have the dual issue of (1) very quickly increasing tolerance and (2) tending to be counter-productive to CBT based techniques for long term change. In particular, they fuck with your memory HARD. Some people aren't too affected, but even therapeutic doses give me a sort of almost blackout "video tape" memory where I can only remember flashes.
    Benzos absolutely have their use. They work excellently in an inpatient setting, and they even have some great uses for short term effects. But they really are not good for chronic anxiety disorders. They're about as effective as alcohol where mostly they make you stop caring.

      gotta keep your plausible deniability as far as accidentally creating any illegal products. assuming he has properly disposed of everything he made in this video, nobody will ever be able to prove that he made something illegal if he somehow did by accident. Can't say the same if you use a university's NMR or mass spectrometer to analyze your products, those test results will be stored somewhere out of your control from which the police can subpoena them.

    Designer benzodiazepines completely ruined my life.
    I attempted to self delete, totalled 4 cars, got 3 duis in one year, lost my wife, my 3 sons, my house, my money and I actaully didn't lose them till after rehab and sobriety.
    Clonazolam was what got me.
    Oh and I was facing 15 years in prison thanks to the failed deletion attempt because it was by OD on fent/bromazolam.

    Benzos are fantastic, just as long as you disregard any prescription that would have you take them as a daily medication. When I was prescribed alprazolam i adopted the principle of once a dose is taken it must be fully out of my system (~72-96 hours) before I will allow myself to use it again.
    Works absolutely perfectly when I need it, at the same dosage i was originally prescribed (.25mg - 2mg depending on why im taking it). Never ran out, never had to ask for increases.

Full scale mental breakdown.
