      Chris Ackerman Yeah, it must be hell to be hounded everywhere you go. But I guess that's the trade-off, fame and fortune, very little privacy.
      But he handles it well, and always has. And you know it's got to be really trying sometimes.
      Like even here, he's ducking out the back door of an airport to get into his car, and still there are people waiting there wanting autographs.
      Maybe he's tired, maybe his wife's in a bad mood, maybe he's in a bad mood, maybe they're not feeling well, etc.
      But he goes right into public McCartney mode and graciously does what's expected of him.
      It can't always be easy to put up with though, but he manages it very well.

      @@walrusz I felt like that when I saw him in the front row at Madison Square Garden.
      But I didn't have a close encounter with him like you did. Yeah, it must have been hard wrapping your head around the fact that he was right there in front of you.

    • @walrusz
      @walrusz  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mtp4430 seeing the flesh and blood "head" of Paul in real life in front of me after thousands of photo, video and LP cover gazing hours...very strange. He seemed a little taller than I would have guessed...and just a bit "tougher" than I would have guessed. All the Beatles were that way I believe...Liverpool 'n' all.

    • @mtp4430
      @mtp4430 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@walrusz Yeah, even seeing him in the front row was mind-boggling to me. When he came out, I remember thinking, holy shit, there is, that's him.
      Remembering the Sullivan Show, listening to the albums while pouring over the album covers, remembering the countless photos of him, articles movies, interviews, Beatles dolls and lunch boxes, etc.
      And there he was literally 10-12 feet away. I was in awe because after all, he was musical hero, a freaking Beatle right there in front of me.
      So I caught a bit of what you probably felt. But not to the same extent because I never got his autograph or shook his hand.

    I met Fab Macca once, back sometime around summer 1969. I was working a crap job doing deliveries for this shop at a place in North London called Apex Corner, when this Rolls Royce convertible pulled up outside... and there he was, one of the most famous people on the planet standing right in front of me! It's kind of odd meeting a music legend like that, someone whose songs touched so deep inside your consciousness that you feel you've been best mates with them for life...even though you've never met them! He said hello, and I said in a surprised voice "hello, what are you doing here"...as suburban Apex Corner is NOT the kind of place you'll often see superstars like Macca wandering around! He was really friendly, and said "we've just come to feed the horses", there used to be some horses that grazed in the fields a bit further on by the A1, and Macca & Linda had stopped to buy some carrots for them. As I watched them walk back to their Roller, I was struck by the 'aura' that surrounded him...it was the strangest, inexplicable thing...but definitely there...a kind of soft, glowing outline that surrounded him.

And Paul literally only signed things for about 30 seconds! and you were able not only to capture it on film but got to interact with one of the most prolific singers & songwriters in rock history known in every country on this earth. You could have seen him exit & he could have just gotten into the car & left. But, wow, I am so moved by this video! It truly doesn't get better than this!! What a exhilarating experience!!! Actually it was an authorized bio! "Many Years From Now" by Barry Miles, 1997. It was the "official" biography of McCartney and was written based on hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews by Miles undertaken over a period of five years.

      @@richardbuchanan7124 It's a good book too. I was kind of hoping Paul would comment on me having that book for him to sign, I don't think he has signed many of them. this dude lived in a camper with his wife...and was into off-beat spiritualism, etc. but his point is well taken. PM has never said, "i'm retiring," or "no more autographs," etc. he does more press than God. hence he knows the trade-off is that people want to stop and say hello and "please sign this..."
