    I just bought this light for my 75 gal and received it today. So far I'm loving it!

    Like others have already commented, this light would be perfect imho if you could use the app to run the light in a nice moonglow level, then fade it to zero after a few hours in nighttime mode. I would love to be able to watch my nocturnal fish come out under very dim light when I stay up late, then have the light shut off completely during the wee hours...should be an easy patch in the app. Otherwise, I love this light.

      If you want to be baller............then have the moon go from one side of the tank, to the other, simulating a rotating earth!!! Just have one (or a few) blue LEDs go from one side, to the other.

      I was going to say the same thing about night time. The sun is up every day but for the moon it's different. So I though of asking for a specific update where for a month the moon is up and next month there is no moon, by having similar moon rise and moon set adjustments like daylight with night adjustments, plus an extra clock that controls a month of moon light and a month without moonlight. Very similar to day times settings. An example, setting the Moon to rise 8pm, to full lunar brightness (brightness I meant by adjustable parameters) and dim down at 5 or 6am. Then an additional monthly timer that can be set in monthly cycles, where a month there is moon light and a month there is no moonlight. The moonlight should be adjustable to faint white to red or yellow moon, just like Nature intended. And of course this will make the best Fluval App ever existed where fish and hobbyists would be happy.

    Love the light so far. But being marketed as a plant (ie freshwater) light we should be able to turn off the moonlight mode to prevent algae growth. Also would be AMAZING if instead of 'sunrise and sunset' just being ramp timers if we could change the color profile during these times to simulate actual sunrise/sunset colors. For me that would really differentiate this light compared to all the similar ones on the market. Looking forward to an update!

    • @fluval

      As a fyi, you can dial all the LEDS to 0% during night mode. While there are other units on the market that function with apps, none of them that we know of deliver IP67 water ingress protection, highly important when maximizing light potential into the aquarium as well as adding a greatly improved degree of protection for better performance over the long run. Thanks for sharing your input as to what you would like to see, updates are planned.

    My light just arrived. It's a big improvement on the fresh and plant 2.0.
    I'd like to see more flexibility in the app please. The ability to add a dark period during the middle of the day to help combat algae growth and to improve LED life while I'm not home.
    Also it would be nice to be able to schedule some time periods of cloud effect to add some detail.
    Also why does everyone think the moon gives off blue light? You can test this idea out for yourself by going outside at night and looking at the moon. When I have the blue light on in the evening the tank looks like an 80's disco.
    I must say that the improvement in my fish behaviour is incredible with the sunrise/sunset. They do loads more interesting stuff and they don't get spooked.
    Thanks Fluval.

    • @Myastroimages
      @Myastroimages ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I was confused too! Export means to "Save As" in the real world and Import means to "Grab a Save As File" and use those settings. Once I figured out Export = Import, in the app, then I could make it work properly. Oooh Well, must be some kind of translation from another language. If they changed the App wording From Export to Import, it would be more understandable IMO.

    I love the new lights and the app. There's two important improvements that I think are important.
    1. Multiple light periods (easy fix)
    2. Built in memory for power fail and or timer use.

    • @fluval
      @fluval  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. We are working on an update that will address your first point. For the second the memory is a question of the actual bluetooth chip in the unit itself, which is something that is dealt with by simply connecting to the unit with your mobile device or with another persons' mobile device who would be in proximity to the aquarium post a power failure. In regards to timer use it you would have to run the app in manual mode.

    This may sound like an elementary technology question, but I leave home for several days, having taken my phone with me, will the lights still follow the programmed cycle? Or, in order for the cycle to work, does the phone need to be near the lights? Thank you.

    • @fluval
      @fluval  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric, once you have exported the program to the lighting unit the mobile device does not have to be near. The mobile device contains the app, the app sends the program to the bluetooth chip within the light unit. If there is a power failure the light unit will default to midnight, to re-establish the current time a mobile device needs to be connected to achieve that. In your absence if there is someone else present with a mobile device they can download the fluval smart app as well and simply connect to the light to establish the current time.

    If the power goes out while I'm on vacation, will Fluval continue where it left off? Such a situation happened recently and when the power was restored, Fluval waited in standby mode. Since I was at home, I intervened with the Fluval app and made it work.

    • @fluval
      @fluval  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello! If the LED was in Manual mode, it will continue to operate as it was before powering down. If in Auto or Pro mode, once powered back on, the light will run starting from 00:00 and will require connection to a mobile device with the FluvalSmart app installed to have its clock reset to the current time. If you are not present after a power failure, we recommend having someone with the app connect to your light unit and re-establish the correct time!

  • @skylineadz

    Just purchased one of these for my planted tank and it really is a the best adaptive light I've bought. Slick and beautifully made. Once I got the app set up I can see what others mean now about it would be good if it had one more set point for late evening for viewing purposes, which shouldn't be difficult for fluval to update in the app. Was also surprised that this light didn't come with the weather effects like the rest of the range, even on lights costing half the price. Im guessing the designers focused on this being used on a plant only set up which i understand but like many im using it for fish and plant mix so a little bit more flexibility would be good. Where the hard wear side of the fitting is second to none, if they added those couple of features to the software side of it, it would make it perfect. There is a clear demand for it so imagine fluval will do the updates before long.

    Fluval can I make a recommendation for your app in the nighttime mode make a timer for it , turn on & off. For an example when sun set mode is complete I would like the nighttime mode to run for like an hour and then turn off , because long term use of nighttime mode does promote algae growth

    • @fluval

    Does the light resume its bluetooth programming light levels and timings automatically when power is restored after a power failure? If not, what does it do?

    • @fluval
      @fluval  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bluetooth is simply a communication vehicle and through bluetooth the chip inside the light unit receives settings and stores them. Once there is a power failure the unit will default to midnight, it requires connection to a mobile device with the app to have its clock reset to the current time. Therefore if you are not present for example post a power failure then it is a good idea to ensure whomever is has the app on their mobile device so they can connect and re-establish the current time.

    This is so frustrating to see so much potential but have it fall short.
    I don't run pressurized CO2, so I utilize a split lighting schedule to maximize use of naturally dissolved CO2; ex. 4hrs in the morning, 4hrs in the evening.
    This is also beneficial because I don't work where I can see my tank, so it has the lights on when I can see it.
    This bluetooth/app solution doesn't enable this but could. In the mean time, I've been getting by using the GE programmable power strip, but that's a limited and inelegant solution when you have several tanks with several lights. Limitations and elegance that the bluetooth/app solution would fix perfectly.
    Furthermore, there's huge potential for tailoring the lighting to specific fish species that's been missed. For example I'd like to setup viewing periods, outside of the current fixed day/night, with only the specific lighting (ex. red) on so I can see nocturnal species, in particular I want to do a Tatia/Centromochlus tank. But there are many species this would apply to.

    @douglasdame1757 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Neat. But I'd definitely need a have a "time out" zone during the day to deter algae. Having 6 or 7 time zones instead of 4 would definitely add a lot of flexibility. It would also be neat to know, for any given settings of the color sliders, what percent of full output that represents. Or even better, how much PUR or PAR.

    • @fluval
      @fluval  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Given the great flexibility of the app and the great variety of combinations that can be created the best way to be aware of PAR is to get a PAR meter (there are reasonably accurate models that are inexpensive) and measure the value.

    I bought the nano 3.0 Bluetooth LED light and the light works really good. I have issues with the App itself.I have issues connecting to the light and when I do get connected, I am unable to save what I edited, so it reverts back. I bought another light thinking this one was faulty. I get the same result. I have also tried on 3 different cell phones. What seems to be the issue here? They all have Bluetooh 4.0. I am unable to really use this app. I have to manually plug and unplug the light for it to work, since I can't get the timer to work. I contacted Hagen support they wanted me to send in the light to be replaced, but Im not dishing out more of my money to ship an item back. I now have two lights same issues, tried on 3 different phones. When will the next update be?

    I have purchased the 48" - 60" ECO 3.0 light for my 75 gallon tank to help promote healthy plants that I have in my tank, that seem to continuously die. Although I haven't searched hard, I've yet to find a recommendation as far as percentage settings recommended to help my plants flourish and grow. Perhaps you guys could possibly make a video showing the perfect day and night time settings to help us Aquarium hobbyists maintain healthy living plants (without blinding our fish as some of us, I am quite sure, have arowana like I do). I am by no means an expert but, I would love the knowledge to be able to become one. I do also know that there are other steps that I can take to help my plants and I am actually in the process of taking those steps for a full tank CO2 system with a diffuser and even redoing my substrate with Fluval planted substrate. What percentages for each available lighting slider do you recommend for my day and night time to promote plant growth?

    • @fluval
      @fluval  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      James, given the wide variety of differing lighting requirements of various groups of plants (high light/mid-light/low light requiring species) and the vast numbers of species that exist within we would suggest experimenting with the photosynthetic response peaks for chlorophyll a & b as a starting point based on how your mix of plants respond given the conditions that exist in your particular set up. There are also numerous other factors that affect light spectrum and intensity based on a number of variables within each aquarium set-up. All that said, take note we do have a general "Plant Setting" as a pre set option within the Fluval Smart app for the 3.0 series which you can try.

  • @keithfranklin214
    @keithfranklin214 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really would be nice to be able to add more cycles then the 4 pre programmed. I would like the light to come on for a couple hours in the morning. Then turn off for a few hours while no one is around and then go through the sunrise, daylight and sunset settings in the afternoon and into the night. For instance have an aquariium in our bedroom. Would like it to light in the morning while we are getting ready for the day. Allow me to feed them etc. Then have light come on for plants for about 6 hours and tank turn off when we go to sleep at about 1030PM. So lit at 6:30AM - 8:00AM, off until 4PM and sunset at 9PM until 10:30PM. Then off or moonlight until 6:30AM.

    Fluval Aquatics,
    I see you have seen the positive feedback in all areas but one. You have made the app so easy and almost basic, though I am sure it is not. I feel adding one more option and allowing users to see transition into moonlight and have the user have a timer of when that light goes down to 0% or off altogether. Granted, it isn’t hard to just set the moonlight when I want to watch the fish at night and have it turn off. Just curious if you have attempted to add to your app and make this light even greater.

      Generally plant species with red pigment do require high light levels, running the unit at 100% for all the LEDs is likely best. CO2 injection is almost always recommended as would be a good Plant supplement with easily available chelated iron, especially for red pigmented plants.

Irrespective of what setting you select and export, you are unable to see which profile is active when you go back in to the Export Profile page, app always hightlights the first profile "Preset - Tropic River". The selected profile is only highlighted (red) when you initially select and export it. If you forget which profile is active you can't tell by accessing the Export Profile screen as it always defaults to the first item listed and not the active profile. Otherwise great light.

      The amount of light is really dependent on what is being kept in the aquarium, should your plants require more light you could add a second unit if necessary, as an example, in the case of keeping some high light requiring species of plants.

    • @fluval
      @fluval  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are many factors that contribute to algae growth, we suggest looking at phosphate and nitrate values within your aquarium water as well as from the source it comes from. Also the types of plants you are keeping related to the light levels you are employing. Ensure the species of plants you are maintaining are illuminated with approximately the light intensity they require. Typically in newer aquariums faster growing species of plants are preferred to help compete against algae growth.

    The current version of the app is completely broken. I can only connect to it via bluetooth about 25% of the time (even when standing right next to the light). When I do get connected, I can control the light in manual mode, but I can't export any of the profiles from auto mode. The export function has literally worked zero times, even with the stock settings. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app at least five or six times too. Based on all the recent 1-star reviews in the app store, I'm not the only one having these problems.

      After using the light for a little while, I can say that it really is fantastic and very well built. The app just needs a little sprucing up to make it more user friendly. Maybe some way to easily know what mode the light is in. It was a little confusing at first knowing if it was in a preset mode or not. There was no mention of a timer so I'm assuming it operates off the time on my phone.

    They could so easily and should make it you can literally pick a GPS point on the map and desired time of the year starting time and very easily mimic the actual lunar cycles of location. Same for all aspect of solar and lunar cycles.
    Some of the earliest super high end saltwater LEDs had this amazing feature which was added not just for how sweet quality LEDs can replicate passing clouds and storms. In fact the main demand that led to this feature is the same one a planted hobbyist should demand of a super pricey light that's major selling is that it can receive info right from the net a full 12 year down the road...
    The lunar cycle probably is used to signal fish spawning just as much as rainy seasons, especially in equatorial tropical regions without them because there's not much else that can cue when the solar cycle is constant. I say probably because there isn't nearly enough research done on the species we keep in general, and to find out some random rainbow fish your team spent a full year watching every night for a year to find out no, they don't use the moon to cue spawning....no grant money for that kind if research.
    But....
    FLUVAL could allow it's customers to make these discoveries on there own and make true biotope conditions for literally no added cost....but they wont.
    They'll try to mimick the tech company way bleeding their customers dry by dropped an "S" mode or a ".1." model every year. Maybe the easier but more insulting Xbox model of downloadable packages. $19.99 for this "new" feature that runs on the platform we built to squeeze cash out of you to get the last few parts.
    Typical greedy decision because the Chinese can't counterfeit an iPhone, but they sure as hell already were before these even hit the market. They'll drop an amazon knock off with more features for 35$ soon. High end sub ohm vape companies learned this lesson the very hard way.

    The FluvalSmart App is good but not that great. It's perfect for sunrise and sunset adjustments and the LEDs bar-graphs are adjustable in day time but at night time they are non adjustable. You have to set the moon effect manually. But, what if the moon is already high and bright for 4 hours before it dims down to complete darkness sets, or what if at midnight the moon rises and is fully bright by morning, before the day (sunrise) cycle starts? The night moon adjustments should be exactly like the day time settings. Or, should I buy another Fluval Plant 3.0, install the light next to the existing one and use day time settings for nigh time moon lighting? Too costly.

    I was about to buy this light until I read that if the power goes out it will not hold its memory. So if I am on vacation and the power goes out than my fish don’t get any light until I come home and reconnect the light to the app again. This is a BIG FAIL on Fluval’s part. What is the point of it having a fancy timer if you have to be there to reset it. I am so glad I found out this info before buying it because I would have demanded a refund. I think for what they are charging for this light they could have easily designed it to hold its memory. Maybe the plan was to come out with a “4.0” with a memory so they could sell another light to the people who wasted money on this one.
