Hi! Can you please recommend a light for a 3 gallon nano planted betta tank? Rimless 9x9x9 inches something that won’t cause a lot of algae. I use the fluval app for the larger Aquasky light, but I think this light would be too much for the nano cube?
Hey Carlos, This is one of the older ones. They have a new one in the same housing (looks the same) but its app driven so you can cut the light way back if you want. I like that as you can tone it down for a little tank or move the light to a different project latter on and give it more power. I put this light on my sump eventually.
@@pecktec awesome! I’ll look into it some more. Thank you for always replying! I’m considering this nano plant light, or the ONF slim nano light from Amazon. It’s comparable to this, but a slightly more contemporary look for the rimless.
Hi pecktec, wanted to thank you for the video on the new light! Looks like something I can use on my nano tanks. I also wanted to thank you for your information on the Kessil WE160 you're using on your big tank! I'm setting up a 125 in my living room and really liked the way your lights look on your tank! I like the idea of them being programmable so you can simulate sunrise and sunset. It's really amazing that the technology has come so far. I've been in this hobby for many years and I remember when all we had were stainless steel reflectors with an elongated light bulb. Again, thank you for all you do, you bring a great deal to this hobby, and I don't think you get enough credit for what it takes to do what you do!
Yeah for what this light does and how bright it is you could literally use it as just a room light. pretty cool, I don't NEED this but I'm considering getting it lol.
I own this for a planted nano (7 gal) and it’s great!👍 Fluval updated the app recently so it has even more customizable features and ease of programming. I originally had two fluval 24” planted lights which run on the same app. Now I have all three on the same app. Very good quality lights at a decent price considering the three year warranty and app features. 👍😎
I just got this light and I love it. I wish I would have found this video sooner because the "directions" that come with the light are totally useless .
I have the fluval aquasky and plant lights on my smaller tanks but I’m setting up a 20 gallon long tank. Could I flip the bracket over and put it in the light upside down so I can mount two to a bracket? I like being able to control it via the app and having all three tanks on the same app would be nice. I’m just tired of having a light directly on the tank and having to move it every time I want to open the top to feed the fish or move something in the tank.
Great video. Looking at getting this light for my fluval flex betta tank.. this tank looks amazing.. what ferts did you use and how often ( if you can remember. It has been a while)
The app lists the lights individually so you can work them independently of one another. Some models of Fluval lights will let you mimic another light so you can match up the settings. That’s what I do in the mega flex.
Hi Sean, thank you for the info on the light! Looks like something I will be getting, I like that it is programmable. I hope it will grow plants, that would be my only other question. Also I have that same exact turtle! I guess great minds collect alike!
i have two of these lights they dont seem to be able to fit onto "normal" tanks? i have two rimless 5gal with plants/corals they look great only coworker is the Bluetooth forgets the clock sometimes about twice a year I have to manually pair up with my phone again 😅
I was always skeptical on getting that Nano LED light, I might buy one now. Also, can you do a mini update on your 2.6 gal cherry shrimp tank or maybe a video on shrimp in general for your aquariums? I would love to see all the different types of shrimp that you have in all your tanks!
Could you do a video on describing the different kinds/colors of light and the different effects it will have on plants... for example I heard that more reds help the plants bloom and blues add to leaf growth but aren't as useful to plants like red lights would be. Thanks!
I was thinking of setting up a nano tank for a dwarf puffer. I currently have a 5 gallon rimmed tank, and fluval 6g edge with the LEDs burnt out. I might take the top off of the edge and get one of these lights for it (would also add a sponge filter). Although I was thinking mostly of stocking it with java fern (I already have). I love the ramp up/down settings. I wonder if they have mounting options for conventional rimmed tanks.
I love all the new Fluval LED’s , that just came out , but the only thing that sucks about the LED’s is night time mold (blue light) has NO timer, might encourage algae growth , if not I’m usually asleep and I cannot appreciate that light , anyway should be off (need a timer), don’t mind haven’t the light on for a little while in nighttime mode
I am really interested in this light but how would it work for a tank that is 23.62 in in length, 11.81 in in height and 11.81 in width its a 16 gallon and there is about 3 inch of substrate in the tank thank you
Nice light! Not really into the whole app thing. Makes it more complicated than it needs to be. But, it looks like that they did address the way the light attaches to the tank. Prior versions I heard were glued on.
Interesting. Might look into these as the Bala Sharks we have are really jumpy fish when the lights have gone off and anyone goes near the tank. Keeping a low light on might help. Great I have the John Coffy of fish....."Do you keep the lights on after bedtime......".....just been reading about LED Fluval but cannot find a comparisson chart. At the moment my tank uses 4 x 39w T5 so wanted to know the equivalent LED. Do you know of such a table?
Thank you for this review, happy to see Fluval got a clue about their previous nano having to be permanently mounted to the glass. This one looks like a winner. Can you totally turn off the blue at night and then ramp back up in the morning?
How adjustable is the height? I’m interested in this light but need something that is low profile due to my aquarium being in an enclosed cabinet. Thanks for your help! Love your videos!
Well I think the daylight part (between the sunrise and sunset parts) will be good for plants. I don’t think they will hurt it’s probably important to make sure that middle cycle is long enough to do most of the work.
I enjoyed your videos. I haven't had fish indoors in 15 years. I recently acquired a 29 gallon Oceanic Biocube (16 X 18.5 and 15 inches deep). Do you think this will be powerful enough for freshwater plants? Should I just save my money for a Kessil A80? Thanks, Dana
How did this end up working for you and what did you make your light schedule/settings? I have the same light and I’m having a serious issue with hair algae. Trying to mess with the settings to see if it’s a lighting issue. Thanks.
I had hair algae for a little while and it completely disappeared. I don’t think it was the light as I always get it at some point. I do about 8 hours ramping up to 95% at 2 pm and then working it’s way down. The colors are pretty even. I think. It’s been awhile since I set it up.
Can they be put on a standard 10 gal? Trying to find a good light for a high tech tank. But it’s normal 10 gal not a rimless. Do you think it would have a good spread over an 10 gal.
This one maybe wouldn’t cover the whole tank but... they also make this in the strip light style so that may be a better fit. Not sure on the sizes but they are way cool.
I have not been able to find this particular light for sale yet and you didn’t mention the price. I did find sinful controllers for similar lights do you have to buy it in two parts or is it all-inclusive
I just bought one here. www.saltwateraquarium.com/plant-nano-5-x-5-bluetooth-led-15-watt-fluval/ You moved your box around so fast I did not see if you have the 15 W version or the 20 W version
I had been considering and fully intended to purchase the AI prime Hd , But that one is more than twice the money of what I got the fluval for. For the record other places that say they have it with quite a bit of searching by the way are charging up words of $150. Saltwater aquarium.com sol be mine which I admit I don’t have yet for $81.99 With free shipping. You should mention that they have the same light in a dedicated marine version and it is available in both a 15 W version and a 20 W version. Since I’m putting it on a very small take the 15 was sufficient. The 20 W version would’ve been $105
Nice review Sean. This light looks great. Do they claim that it improves the environment for flora and fauna? One thing I'd never considered, do you need to alter your co2 rate throughout the day with different levels light intensity?
Hi pectec, What are the dimensions of the lidt itself? I'm considering buying this and wish to try to upgrade the underpowered light on my Fluval Edge 12g. Would I be able to fit it inside the lid?

"All Kinds of options there to confuse the hell out of your plants."
You crack me up!
Pretty sure while I playing with the options, my Betta was totally WTF.
Would you be able to give an update on how you like this light and how it has worked for you the last few months? Thank you!!
Hi pecktec, wanted to thank you for the video on the new light! Looks like something I can use on my nano tanks. LOL Too funny - poor confused plants! Looks like a great light. Thanks for the info about it!
Warm white looks nice.
Yeah for what this light does and how bright it is you could literally use it as just a room light. pretty cool, I don't NEED this but I'm considering getting it lol.
Cool looking light with great functions. . I’m partial to the pink. Lol. Thanks for the info now I need to invest in new rimless tanks.
Just end it at 7:24 please.. your knowledge is awesome. Thank you!
Cool I wanted to buy that light so I keep watching 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Very illuminating review :) Great job!
Thanks for making awesome stuff!
I love this light.
Pink would look good in a blackwater tank
I can’t keep those pink Crips alive.
Nice review, great option for planted nano tanks, finally.
Are you able to attach a gooseneck light stand to the Fluval nano light? Similar to the gooseneck stands for the kessil lights.
That would require some ingenuity. It doesn’t have a factory way but it could be done.
I love sunsets on my reef. Lights have come a long way
So true I love it.
I love the framing here with the large tank in background. It is looking great! As usual another enjoyable and informative video.
I gotta try one of these babies. Thanks for the review.
hi sir, thank you for the video. It was very helpful. Can I ask if you have a video that shows how you keep that tank so clean? Thank you.
Loving all of your tanks as always!. Very creative :)
great looking light by Fluval wouldn't mind one on my Dennerle 30lt cube.
Has anyone done PAR data for each of the automatic settings yet? Love your videos, and this new line by fluval is awesome!
Man, great review for a great unit.
Incredible what you can do with technology now days.
Thanks for sharing.
Seeing your video now as I look for plant oriented lighting setups for my 6 gallon rimless, even crazier now huh? Haha.
Very well done video.
Good info. Tnks for review. Think I might need one
Great video :) Did you ever do a follow up video on how the plants and aquarium and light was doing after some time?
I do updates every six months. It’s actually pretty awesome. I’m in pressed.
cant wait till its on sale it looks great!!
I just got this light and I love it. I wish I would have found this video sooner because the "directions" that come with the light are totally useless .
Very cool!

Great video. Looking at getting this light for my fluval flex betta tank.. this tank looks amazing.. what ferts did you use and how often ( if you can remember. It has been a while)
I put a splash of flourish iron in when I do a water change but I don’t do much.
Can you get two for one tank? How would you control them from one phone?
The app lists the lights individually so you can work them independently of one another. Some models of Fluval lights will let you mimic another light so you can match up the settings. That’s what I do in the mega flex.
Hi Sean, thank you for the info on the light! Looks like something I will be getting, I like that it is programmable. I hope it will grow plants, that would be my only other question. Also I have that same exact turtle! I guess great minds collect alike!
Awesome! Didn’t know that they would be releasing a nano version.
i have two of these lights
they dont seem to be able to fit onto "normal" tanks?
i have two rimless 5gal with plants/corals they look great
only coworker is the Bluetooth forgets the clock sometimes about twice a year I have to manually pair up with my phone again 😅
Hi do you think this light would fit on the Fluval Edge as a replacement for the Standard light ?
Thanks
Did you try this? As. I'm also looking for a better light for my 12g edge.
Cool light
Wish u had a link to these
Sorry fluval doesn’t have them out yet just a sneak peek.
Does it still remember its settings when not connected say when I go work
yes it does.
I was always skeptical on getting that Nano LED light, I might buy one now. Also, can you do a mini update on your 2.6 gal cherry shrimp tank or maybe a video on shrimp in general for your aquariums? I would love to see all the different types of shrimp that you have in all your tanks!

Nice Shirt!

Nice video on a very much needed subject, most aquarium lights are very expensive, but I'm going to keep looking. Tanks are looking very beautiful🐠🐡🐚
Dang dude your the high light of my Saturday night ! I need more clones ! Only a few more days till the next mab brother
Whats cool though is that they can fix that after they release it with software. But will they?????
Great video! What size tank did you put this light on in the video?
It’s an 8 gallon
Always enjoy your videos!
I am really interested in this light but how would it work for a tank that is 23.62 in in length, 11.81 in in height and 11.81 in width its a 16 gallon and there is about 3 inch of substrate in the tank thank you
It would be close. I think one of the longer aquasky ones would be a better fit. They are almost the same light wise and app wise just a bit longer.
Looking to get an aquarium like that, edgeless rimless nano.... any idea where to buy?
Hi, can I stick this under the Hood of the fluval flex 57?
Nice light! Not really into the whole app thing. Makes it more complicated than it needs to be. But, it looks like that they did address the way the light attaches to the tank. Prior versions I heard were glued on.
It wasn’t to bad. Set it and forget it. :) the old ones had dbl stick tape type of connection.
Pecktec why do you always upload in the middle of the night! I feel obligated to stay up just to catch your videos asap haha
Do you have to use the app to program the light or can you use the light "the old fashion way."
You can but it probably wouldn’t justify the cost. As having control over color temperature / intensity and The built in timer are key features.
What kind of goosenecks are on that back tank??
Made by Kessil for their lights.
Nice video!
Would you recommend this light for a penn plex 10 gallon rectangle tank? Or should I go bigger?
Emanuel Magda I think it could work. It may be a bit narrow though. Maybe the shortest Fluval sky would do better.
@@pecktec thank you I appreciate your input. Think im going to give it a go.
Interesting. Might look into these as the Bala Sharks we have are really jumpy fish when the lights have gone off and anyone goes near the tank. Keeping a low light on might help. Hi mate
Winter is coming
Im saving up to get your hoodie next.
Nice little lite interesting to see how it goes
The fish think the apocalypse has come. 😂🙀
Thank you for this review, happy to see Fluval got a clue about their previous nano having to be permanently mounted to the glass. This one looks like a winner. Can you totally turn off the blue at night and then ramp back up in the morning?
Yes you can zero out the night time lights. I have blue on at 1%.
What lights do you use for the big tank in the background?
How adjustable is the height? I’m interested in this light but need something that is low profile due to my aquarium being in an enclosed cabinet. Thanks for your help! Love your videos!
Goes pretty low.
How thick is the actual light housing? I want to command strip attach it under a hood
I’d say an inch inch an a half maybe.
pecktec thank you very much I appreciate it 🙂
Very Nice...looks like a great light. Do you know of any add on light that would work with the Fluval Flex??? The light is terrible for that tank
I’m working on some new mod ideas on the flex regarding the light.
Ohhh I cannot wait for that....that would be awesome, as I have yet to come up with anything good.
Would this fit on a planted 20 gal cube?
Hi Sean, thanks for the video, if I removed my Fluval Edge 12 gallon lid would this attach to it?
thanks sean!
Wartościowa prezentacja, tego właśnie potrzebowałem.
Dzięki za oglądanie!
Great review ! Does anyone know the input specifications of the light ? Is it dual voltage , as in 110v to 220v ?
It uses one 110 outlet. It also uses high heat bulbs for better efficiency and growth.
Can't wait for this light! Does the sunrise to sunset setting give plants enough light for good growth? Thanks, love your videos :)
Well I think the daylight part (between the sunrise and sunset parts) will be good for plants. I don’t think they will hurt it’s probably important to make sure that middle cycle is long enough to do most of the work.
pecktec I realized after I wrote it that you can probably customize the duration of the daytime segment in the cycle...Awesome, Thank you!
Can you please make a video of native plants i am near river an there are many native plants
Did u find this grows plants good? I have it in a low tech setup and nothing looks like its taking off.
Hello new sub here. Would this do ok for low light plants on a 16x14x16 tank?
Looking for something like this!
size tank? good video
I think that was the 8 gallon tank. I have one on a 15 as well.
could you please post the link I can’t find this light anywhere and I’m looking to buy it
Is this light able to be mounted on a rimmed tank or rimless only??
What size is your nano tank?
I have a 15 gallon cube, is this light good for my tank?
That’s an 8 gallon but I have one on my 15 now too. It’s working well.
Thanks for the reply! But can i grow dwarve hair grass or any medium light plant on my 15 gallon cube with this light?
How did this end up working for you and what did you make your light schedule/settings?
I have the same light and I’m having a serious issue with hair algae. Trying to mess with the settings to see if it’s a lighting issue.
Thanks.
I had hair algae for a little while and it completely disappeared. I don’t think it was the light as I always get it at some point. I do about 8 hours ramping up to 95% at 2 pm and then working it’s way down. The colors are pretty even. I think. It’s been awhile since I set it up.
pecktec thanks.
Can I run two of these in a 20 gallon (UNS 60U) aquarium?
I would just buy the longer ones. But you could if you wanted. They come on a few sizes.
This is all in one piece and is coming to market soon.consider this a sneak peek.
They made no claims on that. I have the co2 come on about mid way through the sunrise and turn off mid way through the sun set.
What size tank do you have that on? Do you think it would provide enough coverage for a 10-gallon?
8 gallon, I think so, you would need to raise it a bit more.
Hey Pecktec, what tank is that you're using?
It’s like a fluval flora
Hi pectec,
What are the dimensions of the lidt itself?
I'm considering buying this and wish to try to upgrade the underpowered light on my Fluval Edge 12g. Would I be able to fit it inside the lid?
I don’t think it will fit inside.
where did you get your nano tank ? is it glass or acrylic
This is an 8 gallon glass tank Fluval gives away at contests they host. It was once for sale as the Fluval flora.
can this be installed on the fluval flex 15 ? I would like to upgrade the lighting to have the automation
Sure if you take the top off. I would get one of the bigger ones though.
Its a great light to show off your pants.
My frustration is only that fluval advertises this stuff..and it’s not coming to Canada until very end of 2018 ..
Cathy Aitken Amazon goes everywhere
Cathy Aitken and Fluval is owned by Hagen, which is a Canadian company.
Will this work for a 6 gallon fluval edge?!
Not with the filter it comes with.
aww. Its only for rimleess tanks? That sucks
Does this light produce shimmer like kessils do?
Not as much.
What’s the height it can go?
Not very far maybe 5 inches.
Hey Pecktec, do you think this light would work well on a fluval flex 15? (assuming i replace the cover with glass)
May be a little small for that.
Hmm, really want to change the lighting system in the tank. Its a full planted tank with neons and a corys do you have any recommendations?
If you want the same features get the longer ones. If not maybe a led flood light (the cheapest option) or the smaller Kessil if you have some cash. If you can find one that fits maybe the finnex planted plus I’d a favorite of mine.
Thank you kindly sir!
What if you don't have a smartphone?
is this big enough for a 10 gal
I think so.
Does it swivel?
It goes up down left and right. A little.
