    I find it hard to believe that it goes away with passage of time and enough rest. I've had it for about 15 years and even had to use a POP cast for about 6 months to reduce activity on it. I've stopped playing active sports since then - this is 2022 and it hurts even more. It is so limiting because I could have done well if I had a football career.

    I never really understood osgood schlatter, I went to my family doctor when I was 12 because I had pain underneath my kneecap with a bump too, he said I had osgood schlatter disease and I thought it was all over for me because the pain was unbearable but then suddenly every time I would rest it, the next day it wouldn’t hurt me at all unless if you touched it and It would be okay and I played soccer normally without it bothering me and now I see at least a dozen of people saying that the pain was the reason they couldn’t play and I’m not saying there lying but I’m just saying that I really don’t understand what I got and if it’s temporary or not. For me what really worked was too keep playing and eventually my knee would get used to my excessive running and playing but the pain would return but would get better the next day

    hi,
    I hAve been diagnosed with osgood schlatter since I was 13. I have it in both knees and it is a very very annoying sensitive area. Only touching it causes major pain. I can’t bend over or sit legs crossed or even bend my knee without having to deal with major knee pain. I was always told it’ll pass with time. Almost ten years later I stayed with the same disabilities and stronger pain. My legs keep hurting me badly and whenever I do sports or even go up the stairs or anything at all. I feel like It’s amputated.
    So I decided to get a surgery.
    2 years after the surgery, I still feel the exact same pain with added extra pain from the surgery. I now feel pressure in my knee every 3 minutes and I have to crack my knee for the stress in my joints to free. It happens to me every couple of minutes and I need to crack my knee multiple times one after the other until I relieve all the tension and it gathers tension again in less that a minute. I’m very confused and no doctor can help me. They all say I’m fine. Does someone know / experienced this sort of thing?? I really need help because I can no longer bare the pain and stress it’s making me. I need to bend my leg every minute to get a good strong crack to relax.
    I have it in both knees but I only did surgery in one and I’m really sad I did it because I’m really strict in moving my legs. I can’t bend down on the ground. I’ll need someone to lift me up and I lose feeling of moving my knees for a minute but I still feel constant pain

I am now 13 and the pain is completely gone. I'm still finding it hard to catch up to the level I was playing at before but I'm slowly yet surely reaching there.. I think that mine might have recovered quickly as we had taken physiotherapy sessions and they showed me a lot of exercises to strengthen the muscles around my knee to take some pressure off of it

  • @dubocracymusic472
    @dubocracymusic472 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is very frustrating for muscle building for competition. I’m 31 and I can’t get adequate hypertrophy of my Vastus Medialis on my left leg. My theory is to much tension is being placed on my left patellar ligament when I lunge or squat so the muscle I am trying to build doesn’t get the activation it needs and leaves my right leg noticeable larger than my right. So one might say “your favoring the left leg with the right leg. Maybe. However, when I single leg squat or conduct a pistol squat on my left knee I can feel all the tension being absorbed by my patellar ligament because that bony process is so far protruding out the ligament is being over stressed hindering neuromuscular efficiency of my left Vastus medialis. All of those recommends for treatment are a band aid for just the pain. Is there no surgery available to shave the bony process? “Resting the area” sure I can rest for 90 days then start up on a training regime again and 30 days later I’m back where I started from” getting the same BS recommendations.

    Was diagnosed at 10 years old… I grew 8 inches over one summer. I was on a jump rope team and practiced for 2 hours every day. I limped to class in the mornings because the pain was so bad. We did tricks that involved jumping on one foot, and I literally couldn’t do them because the pain wouldn’t let me put all that force on one knee. I had it in both knees, but it started in the right one first and that bump is much bigger than the left. I’m 20 now and started feeling pain again the other day. Does anyone know if the pain ever stops and the bumps go away?

    I'm 15 now and started playing basketball a year ago and that's also when and where the pain came from. I also diagnosed it with the osgood schlatter but chose not to slow down basketball practice because I want to be a pro and just love the sport. I can't even think about quitting for two months because I would just miss it and unlearn skills. I'm wondering if there's an option to get through the disease without taking a break from exercise, because my pain is getting worse, maybe because I've done nothing during this time but wear bandages. I would also like to say that one day the pain in my foot started and I bought insoles. I believe these two issues are related. It would be nice if someone could help me because I love basketball. And sorry for my English, I'm from Germany.

    Im 30 in the UK and have had OS on my right knee even though im left footed since i was about 14. Ive just had my op but some of the syptoms were the same/similar to those on the video;
    - I had to sit in a particular seat if i was to fly i.e. the right isle on the outer seat to stretch my leg
    - If sitting down in a car with feet down i would have to walk it off/stretch/straighten my OS leg/ kick out the leg.
    - I could play football or run however the pain afterwards esp in bed was unmanagable
    Having just done the op today in the UK, i wouldnt mind sharing the result and review on how it all went 😉

    • @Jon.A.Scholt
      @Jon.A.Scholt 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am jealous of you! I'm 37 and since we have shite health care here in America an operation like on OS is considered "optional" by insurance companies. I've had OS for 26-27 years now; I'm almost tempted to get a chisel and hammer and blast away at the giant ridge, elbow-esque OS on the left. My right leg is very moderate by comparison. But how you described your OS sounded very familiar. Also, I have ossicles from OS in my left patellar tendon so as I've aged I've gotten worse and worse tendonitis.
      I hope since your operation sounded as if it went well you're recovery is going well too. I've heard from some that it is not too bad and that the PT after is very mild. Hope that's your case. Us OS sufferers always pass on good vibes to our OS fellowship.
