👍 for mentioning the GMRS radio during the hurricane. There are still areas in the South East, where all cellphone and internet service is out! So, Ham Radios are being used to communicate with victims. They are being used to locate family members, request relief supplies, send vital data to & from outside help, set up communications within the disaster area, etc.!
"When all else fails... Ham Radio Works!"
(GMRS works good too, but is more constrained as to what you can really do!)
But FCC rules apply to both, to prevent any goobers from mucking up emergency situations & help (ie. Hurrican Helene)!
