Yep. That specific scenario is a non zero chance. Meaning the smallest possible probability. Most poker games are boring, nothing crazy. Once in every few turns you’ll get 2 players actually have decent cards.

It's easier to just use big numbers and big hands to convey the excitement in a movie or show to people who probably only know the basics, rather than using stuff like range-interactions, minimum defense frequencies, and pot-odds that would need explaining and probably go over a lot of people's heads

We slowly put in like a huge pot I won a lot to that point so I wanted to go big for fun, I put everything on high card and laughed like crazy as I was half drunk, my friend was like you're not going to win, he was certain i was bluffing. In the end he had same card as my and a 8 and as I had 9 I had a higher card. One and only time I knew I would win by pure dumb luck.

I’ve played a fairly decent amount of poker, I wouldn’t say this is what poker is like at all, aside from the fact they’ve followed the basic rules correctly. Even the dealer would be fired for mixing the cards the way he did, that was very sketchy. But, I let it off because it’s a film, it’s Hollywood, it ain’t that deep. Still doesn’t mean non poker players should think this is how it’s played though

To clarify I had JK in my hand and I had a 4 of a kind after the flop but I checked like everyone else. So when the next card came they believed their high pair with the J would win and I would call and after the river they bet higher I raise and since they usually think I’m bluffing they call my raise and get burned. Doesn’t always work as I’ve had 2 pair after flop waited the players out and a pair showed up on it so my 10 2 2 pair didn’t matter since some just need a J or higher pair to beat me since a pair of 4’s were in the pot
