- Visiting a lesser-known katong laksa shop in Singapore. George is the 2nd generation and he does not take shortcuts - he even presses coconut himself. In this video, I try his laksa, observe the secret behind his success and ask about his daily routine (spoiler: it's tough and not easy)

The shop often sells out by 2pm, so better to come early!
🍶 I started to import quality, hidden gem Sakes from Japan! All Sakes have 100 years of history, made primarily with sake masters' hands, and are only available at Sake Ichiba in Singapore! linktr.ee/ghibojisan

HELP! I'm doing a cooking event (and video) of non-Singaporean chefs recreating their versions of Singapore cuisine (eg: Italian-style bak chor mee)! Drop me an email at ghib.ojisan@gmail.com if you (or your friend) are interested to participate! Event date: 23 June 2024.
The mee siam in the Royals Cafe, has a good food citation but I never ate it before. Crescendo Building, Upper East Coast Rd.
Check out the chye poh chye tau kueh (old recipe), nasi ulam (rare Nonya rice, a bit dear), Melaka chendol, char kueh teow, chicken rice, bak chor noodles etc in Soy Eu Tua Coffee Shop, Jln Tua Kong. All are nice tasting. I ate before.
Uncle George is truly one of a kind! His dedication to his work is admirable and deserves our support!
Ghib's singlish is getting better and better. In a few years he will be indistinguishable from a local
HE'S NOT A LOCAL????
@@medionteonius6259Obviously
@@medionteonius6259 no lah hes from osaka
This kind of laksa with so much history is going to be authentic, rustic and nostalgic! Something I definitely would love to try. And Uncle George English quite good leh! Something I noticed from him!
Uncle very funny also @8:10 hahaha
Good on Gerald too! Let's support them! Anyone wants to patronise I see the whiteboard @8:37 states their operating hours and rest days.
I had no idea this place was nearby until now. Thanks for sharing! I'm really excited to try it out tomorrow! Especially because I love laksa!
I went down to the laksa stall today and it was absolutely delicious! Thanks again for sharing-I wouldn't have discovered this gem without your video!
ive been eating Uncle George Laksa for 20+ years. The best laksa IMO. He is super friendly and smiles all the time. Good vibes
Thanks for this feature! Imagine a Japanese introducing new local spots to a Singaporean! I shall try. CHEF GERALD USED TO WORK CLOSEBY
The original katong laksa originate from a uncle Janggaut. Uncle George's laksa has the origins taste but with a little twist.
Wah this uncle sounds like a really nice guy and hardworker. I’m glad his son want to continue the legacy. It seems like the process to make this dish takes a lot of works, hopefully more people can appreciate his food.
Love George laksa! Been here since I was a kid (4 yo at upper Changi road) and still patronizing it (in my 30s)! Most favourite laksa! Umami + nostalgic= awesomeness❤❤❤❤
Used to be just across the street. George will esp add tau pok for me. I was caught in surprise and esp thankful he is very attentive to his customers preference. Haven’t visit him for a long long while. Very good laksa.
Love dedicated hawkers like him! Thank you for showcasing these hawkers!
Thanks for this video Ghib! Made me wanna try this very soon!
Understood from another local food heritage programme that George’s father received the recipe from original Katong Laksa founder uncle Janggut and had stayed true to as original recipe as possible. It looks so good n yummy
I am a big fan of George's laksa too. Glad you did this video. Hopefully it will increase his business and support for him.
great episode !!!
I am salivating as I watch this 😭 thanks Ghib I don’t even know this exist!! What a hardworking father and son ❤
When he says no shortcut. Respect the grind. Hopefully his business will be passed down to more generations. Good luck and good health to George and Gerald. Thank you for sharing this wonderful find Ghib-san.
Than you for this recommendation
Thanks to you, George's gonna get a lot more customers. I'll make sure to eat there the next time I'm in Singapore.

This uncle is so nice!! You can tell he really loves serving customers.
I really wanna go now but i worry that it’ll be crowded because of this video xD
It is. I live just a couple streets away and i went to see today after watching this video. People standing around waiting for seats and all.
We need more sg food vids.
More! More! More!
Heard its a adaptation of the original janggut laksa from Katong.
This was how laksa used to be like when I was younger. Must have prawn.
Video made me hungry, I have to go try it now.
Proabably the best Katong laksa in Singapore , and it's not in Katong.
Kinda surprised Ghib found a gem which even locals don't know about it 😂
Can see this is authentic laksa. There are many other laksa better than yishun too.
I’m watching this in the middle of the night 😅 so hungry
Guys this uncle needs our support... ❤❤❤ hope his son will take over the bussines and pass down to his son to keep his grandfather's and dad's dreams alive... im heading to uncle's place this weekend... what about you?
I started eating his laksa since 1991
Family favorite!
Been there recently. Nice uncle.
Had been eating here for 15 years❤
Good job 👍🏻 in your coverage Mr Anonay
I love this video format! Uncle's 'HUH' is so cute. Keep up the good work!
must try out one time!
Thank you for sharing time to pay him a visit
George, or his father's version is actually 1 of the original Katong Laksa (there is a video somehwere on youtube)
wow must try...
Nice video
Respect
四十年前に行ったタイを思いだしました。😊
You’re supposed to mix the chilli with the laksa soup if you like it spicy.
The laksa at Ayeh Rajah hawker centre is the best. Gravy is thick and yummy❤
This is 1 of the "Jangkut Laksa", the original Katong Laksa recipe been passed down.
George laksa is best in Singapore for me
Wa wa amazing. I want to eat also!
Why you revealed the best kept secret!? 😂
if you all want more original you have to use the lesung to make the laksa paste and sambal 😀
Wow looks so gooooood!!!!!!!
Can’t wait to bring my wife there
やば!
これは絶対美味いやつですね
つぎ渡星するとき食べにいきます!
ロレックス家においてあるは間違いないですねw
ラクサ食いたいね~😋
The yishun one sucks lah. It is only hyped because yishun rarely has anything good to eat and it's too far from everywhere so they all flood there.
4:13 😂😂😂😂
George's or Janggut are the real deal.
The rest are often confused interpretation with malaysian style curry noodles or, butchered recipe with too many odd toppings to cover the poorly made (or factory mass made) broth.
Bak Kuk Teh uncle gave up 😆😆😆
I never been there before
Best Bak Kut Teh in Singapore
One of my favourite Laksa stalls.
This is the real laksa. Not the coconut milk laksa from Katong.
Looks delicious. Best avoid the "hum"
Don't play play ok, half a century Laksa. 🤭
Really need a lot of affect to cook a good food. can't really find good food now a days. Now alot of hawkers and coffee shop get foreigners to cook and taste awful 😖.
Does the laksa come with cockles?
Yes, its in the video, u see properly
Any bus or MRT go there
say, what happend to Uncle Jimmy?
I previously sampled his laksa and found it to be of acceptable quality.
Your mother isn't
Their operating hours is too short... Why not operate the whole day?
Hungwee
Patrons now eat with eyes wide open. Albeit, star rated. Taste wised? Sigh..
Hahaha wear rolex income tax go up
Nice 928 Yishun laksa shout out!
Come kuching sarawak to try our laksa,I’ll bring you around
I try already not nice
I love Sarawak laksa, but it is a Completely Different dish from Katong Laksa.
your friend took you to lapsap place ? got happy ending ?
He is right, squeeze coconut and ready pack coconut give out very different taste.
Where’s Jimmy? 😂
