I'm on 22H2 and I do see the "Access in File Explorer" entry, so it isn't linked to Windows version. It only sees internal storage, not SD card storage, for that, a USB cable connection is needed
Nice to know Microsoft allow you to access YOUR OWN data in 24H2, at least then you see exactly what you have just allowed them FULL access to aswell.....'aint the cloud terrific.
Really? Why did you give Apple or Google to access your phone, its storage, contacts, notes, mails, everything you type, and every bit of information??? Why? Microsoft is not stealing anything by doing this. Maximum, the could collect data about your phone model, usage behavior etc for advertising. They are not stealing your data. Concerns of Privacy is good, but don't overthink! If you do, then use Windows 7, or Linux. And that without Internet. Use phone without Internet.
Phone link is far more superior than KDE Connect. Only advantage is KDE Connect works offline. Another nice piece of software is Intel Unison. However, not as feature rich as Phone Link
It originally worked for Android phones only and not iPhone. Phone Link does require logging into a Microsoft Account. Microsoft had patterned with Samsung which is why Samsung phones could mirror and open phones app in the Phone Link app

Thank you very much for this! I had Phone Link installed and working, but I did not know about the ability to browse files in Windows.
I think very good stuff for people can't use phones more better very good job
Thanx for that . Worked fine on SMS and photos but not calls as my desktop doesn't have Bluetooth.
Why would you give Microsoft access to your phone?
Why would you even own a phone these days?

@@notjustforhackers4252 so true
KDE Connect, open source, no in app data collection either.
yea used that with my linux system, but tbh that's very much clutter, ofc will provide much more control over your phone remotely

Another topic...Do you have a video on file explorer not responding in windows 11 my man it seems to be a common problem?
Thank you sir.
Screw that. Google has enough access to my life. I would never give more access to any more of my life to Microvirus already has as well.
I have a different problem I can't do with USB cable ,does not open Android at all
thanks, no thanks.

Hi briten my gpu is not working in task manager 0 precent
Would have been great to see 100% mirroring on your on your PC
Why? Will never understand this.
This is a new feature in 24H2.
Of course I could attach my external SSD directly to my phone
My pc just wants my phone number.
Phone link is bad it is a security risk and do not work with all phone

Yet another way Microsoft gains access to your data by requiring signing into a MS account. Never mind.
