I really appreciate this guys methods and how much simpler the process of this project was because he took the time to show you as well as to explain why techniques he offers, allowing you to reduce your time and or any possible issues that may cause you extra work. After watching this I really felt confident that I could complete the task confidently. Thanks again and you offered Excellent explanations with no wasted time, nothing bothers me more than when a 20 minute video could have been done in 5 minutes, but when having to keep waiting and watching so not to worry that ya may miss important things. Great job.
Great video -- thank you. One of the best instructional vids on replacing this part. I have a Maytag Bravos XL that has been beeping and giving me DU/DL - it seems it was all due to this silly part. Replaced it in 35 minutes following these instructions and now the washer is back in business - and not annoying with the beeps anymore! Just a note there were 2 additional vertical brackets I had to remove for my unit that held the lid and housing in place - I had to remove these brackets to lift up the carriage.
My husband tried doing the latch release in the front before, bent 2 metal spatulas. I watched another video that I thought was great, only it didn't work. Found your video and......... I was able to change the interior light bulb. Thank You so much!
My whirlpool washing machine is just about 2 years old. In less than 2 months I had to have latch repaired. After warranty I had to replace lid lock assembly....diy ...thanks to TH-cam video. Last nite I put the lid down to prepare for a load of laundry....surprise surprise! Lid locked instantly and I didn't put anything in it yet! 16 hours later, after trying restart...a million times, unplugging in countless times, overnight....STILL LOCKED. I absolutely hate the machine. Forget the new high tech machines. I take my old one back in a heart beat. Definitely need to bring back the center agitator also. There were times I would find at the end of the cycle that there would be soapy residue left on the clothes. Yes...I am using the recommended detergent. If your old one works....keep it!!! I had my old one for 27 years. Replacing a belt once. My next one I'll check out an estate sale. Oldie but a goodie.
Lasse Poulsen Hi Matt. Great video. One of the best I have come across. Perfect explanations and perfect photography. May I suggest that you add a comment that the lock mechanism on the replacement part looks significant different now but it still works. I learned this the hard way after first returning my initial replacement part. Luckily the new shipment had a clear alert attached to it indicating that the new part also fits although not initially obvious.
Glad we could help! And thank you for that tip. Manufacturers do change the design of parts frequently in an attempt to make parts compatible with as many of their appliances as possible. We only carry original manufacturer parts, as long as you research the part by model number, you can be assured the part is correct for your unit per the manufacturer.
The front clips.. how do we release themn.. so I can get rhe top off. ? Do I push the clip in and up.. or push in and down ? Wish you could of showed how to do it after you got rhe top off ..
I have a Kenmore Elite oasis bought in 2009. Ran diagnostic and it gets to the last one and doesn't spin. Trying to find videos to take apart and see if it's the coupler or clutch. Do you guys have any of them? Can't seem to find any. Don't see anything underneath. I'm guessing I have to take off housing to get to it.

Hello! Thanks for the vid. What I need to replace is the top part of the switch (the vertical latch that goes into the magnetic switch, located on the lid) of the Whirpool 6th sense 20kg top load washer which has a glass door with a plastic cover on the front. I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A WAY TO TAKE THE COVER OFF to get access to the latch (it broke trying to open the washer after the switch stoped working). Please, does anyone have an idea on how to do that?

Excellent presentation. Were you using Gaffer's Tape to hold down the lid?
