      Thank you Toni!!! As I tell James - if I have it, you are more than welcome to it. You would need a different adapter for your A6700 or pick a body and lens set up you want to use. All you have to do is ask. No point in my having it if I cant share. See you soon after your trip. 🙏💖🤗

    You've got to square the crop factor to arrive at the final image size. It reduces both width and height by a factor of 1.6, not the area covered. In crop mode the 45MP sensor gives 45/(1.6x1.6), that's 45/2,56, so your image size in crop mode on the R5 and R5 mk2 is only 17.6Mp, slightly less than the old EOS 7D MkI.

      Perfectly stated and thank you. I like to shoot the full frame and crop to reframe in post to the position I want to present. I get that question a lot so I wanted to address it to those that are newer to photography and think they may get more shooting in crop. If I want to shoot in crop, I pick up the R7. 🙏💖🤗

    Johnny, we don’t agree on politics or religion…. But, we sure agree on the love of wildlife and all people and of course enjoying photography. Your vid’s are great fun and very helpful for shooting instruction and methods. I find your gear reviews straight forward and honest, I like that… Well done, my thanks for your efforts.

      I can not thank you enough. Those differences are what make is all so great together and I like learning from anyone who thinks different that I do. The love of wildlife and photography is perfect to have in common and if we can expose others to that love of what most just walk past.....perfect. I just like being out and sharing that passion with others. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! 🙏💖🤗

      I just got home a couple of hours ago, downloaded files, answered comments, showered etc - I have been shooting hummingbirds in Arizona. Thinking about your reply and I thank you - truly thank you.. We have different views and you are still watching my stuff letting me share with you - thank you. On a personal note, I have learned a lot from those with differing opinions when I just listen. No matter what, we agree on wildlife and that is enough. I had to come back and say thank you.

      Thank you, thank you, thank you!! When I want to shoot crop, I shoot the R7 - it is simply a beast of a body and I think you get more from that than shooting any full frame in crop mode. Every time I pull out the R7, I am reminded all over again at how amazing it really is!! 🙏💖🤗

    Besides reduced file size, is there a significant advantage of crop-mode? I've heard it improves the auto-focus of a fast moving small target, I've heard it improves the speed of eye-detection, etc.
    This would depend on how crop-mode is designed...does the camera scan the entire sensor, then crop and display to the user, or is the camera only scanning the crop area of the sensor?

    Interesting. I have used crop mode occasionally on my R5 but only when the subject is small or a bit far off. It just seems to help me get the focus on the subject.

    Lovely shoots and video.
    I have never shot in crop mode. I have heard, and may test it at some point, that AF is faster since it is covering a smaller area. I have never wanted to drop to 17MP to find out. On the older R5 it may have helped but the Mark II AF is fast enough that I really can't see a reason to use crop more.

    • @JonnyPink65

      I think I have shot in crop mode one other time in the past - it never made sense to me. I do get asked that question so I wanted to bring it up. As I responded to one other comment, I zoom in when showing photos then zoom back out to show the full frame. I crop to my liking and that is what works for me. Give me all the megapixels and let me chose!!! 🙏💖🤗

      Thank you, thank you! I only use Adobe Lightroom Classic. A LONG time ago I had Topaz - A LONG time ago, but when I switched to a new computer two computers ago, I could not load it onto my new computer without a new subscription. I never went back and it was OK. I really like what Lightroom offers and I do use masks!! I shot a lot and pick the best of the best, then narrow it down for the video. 🙏💖🤗

    Hi John Does the 200-800 lens perform well in poor light in terms of acquiring autofocus quickly particularly with the R7 for birds in flight and if you are trying to photograph fast moving warblers in dense cover/forest habitats? I presume that with the R5ii, that it performs very well.

    • @JonnyPink65
      @JonnyPink65  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It performs extremely well on the R5II. The 200-800 is not a lens I have liked to use on the R7 or R50. It just does not give me the quality I want - the reach becomes immaterial since I dont like the images. My favorite lens on the R7 that I would take all day long is the 100-500. Not as much reach but the images are sharper and you can crop in regardless of what anyone tells you. The reason i show images zoomed in is to show how sharp they are and then zoom out to show what they looked like when I shot them. I have done a couple of videos using the 200-800 on the R7 but it is not my favorite. The is the first full frame body I think where this lens really shines. Your shooting may be different than mine and you may love it, but that is not a combo that I found met my demands. 🙏💖🤗

      @@JonnyPink65 I am in complete agreement with you! I shoot birds and insects mostly and I think the 200-800 lens needs a high end camera like the R5 ii to perform to its absolute best potential. Thanks very much for your help John 🙂

    It isn't worth shooting in crop on the R6 as you only have 8mp, on the R5 you cut down to 17mp, which does save card space if all your subjects are a long way away. On the R7 the equivalent sensor would be 82mp ff, which can lead to a loss of sharpness. On my 7Dii I noticed a drop in quality compared to my 5Diii using the same lens. However, I sometimes use a 1Diii [10mp] as you don't always need a massive mp sensor, I shot professional on a 1D [4mp] for years.

      I have the R6 but sometimes do anyways because I want to see a distant bird closer and am not after quality shots. I also find the autofocus seens to be slightly faster especially with something like the 800 f11.

      @JonnyPink65  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree - it is not worth it but I do get that question a lot so I wanted to address it for newer shooters who may misunderstand and think they are getting more. I am happy with my R3 and I LOVED shooting the R8 believe it or not. You dont need a lot, just the correct lens body combo that works for what you are shooting. 🙏💖🤗

      @@fylphotography9269 Nothing wrong with shooting in crop at all. It is just not something I do and since I get that questions a lot, I wanted to address it for newer shooters that my not understand the loss. It does save card space though!! 🙏💖🤗
