Ringo totally made me become a drummer, before I got super into the Beatles I was only into mallet percussion, always finding drums to just be noise. When I got super into The Beatles a few years back, he totally changed the way I saw them. I don’t even play mallets anymore, just drumming. The way he grooved, and drew everyone to him when he was in the back sitting rather than standing and shaking with a guitar. The way he flicked his wrist to player the hi-hat always made me want to be him. I can’t even hit a hi-hat straight on anymore, I have to flick my wrist and groove it it feels wrong.
I am 38,I've been drumming since 10. My youngest boy is now 9, also a drummer. Ringo has been my largest influence and also my boys. Ringo plays perfectly. Listen to Hello Goodbye, perfect drumming. Absolutely perfect!! How about She Said She Said! Insanely awesome drumming!!
I once asked a fellow Beatles fan, out of the blue really, why a yellow submarine anyway. So I Wiki`d it and come to find out, they did try different colors for the song but just decided yellow fit in the best for whatever reason. When I hear the song now I sing, a red submarine, a green submarine, a purple submarine. The French version is a green submarine, according to Wikipedia.
Ringo was the bedrock, the Christmas tree that displayed all the adornments of John, Paul and George. He played to the song, always. Inventive and UNIQUE!
Great stuff Holly Hobs! Keep it up. I see/hear what you mean about Ringo and "A Day In The Life". Ringo's drumming sometimes plays counterpoint and sometimes plays *with* John's singing-- accompanying and emphasizing.
Paul said he thinks back when Ringo became a Beatle and he gets very emotional. Ringo added that certain something in the beat and the art was complete.
Thanks for starting with the interview of John. People think John hated or belittled him. Especially after that misquoted comment about his drumming abilities (he never said it.)
Once again you nailed it...the detractors are just repeating what they’ve heard & they think it makes them sound cool. Ringo didn’t like flashy solos. George felt the same way about over the top guitar solos. All the truly great musicians respect him. Paul consistently names him as his all time favorite drummer.
Firstly, as a uniquely-identifiable drummer, Ringo has a style that brilliantly balances accompanist and commanding beat-master. Secondly, on the subject of "Yellow Submarine", I think it may have originated as "Yell out something mean" with Paul playing to John's cruel streak. Anyone here agree? Either way, it was a children's song perfectly suited to Ringo's cultivated image.
At the time of the opening clip with John, Ringo was more popular (in the middle of a streak of 7 consecutive top tens). His only problem was that he was never a prolific writer & dependent on (to paraphrase) help from his friends. That’s why “Ringo” is such a perfect pop-rock LP.
Yellow is the stage of evolution that our planet is currently at which is 3rd density. The yellow submarine is under the sea of "green". Green is the color of 4th density which is the next stage of evolution of our planet. The sky of "blue" is above the green sea which means "blue" is 5th density. Planets throughout the universe will illuminate a specific color which signals the stage of evolution that it's currently at and we're at yellow thus we all live in a "yellow" submarine. Coldplay has a song called "yellow" so they understand what yellow means like the Beatles did.
Many years ago a friend was telling me that he walked into the Grapes pub in Mathew Street in Liverpool. I'm sure you're aware that the famous Cavern Club was in Mathew Street. Anyway, this was during the Mathew Street Festival (which sadly is no more). He walked into the pub to find about 30 Japanese people all singing "Yellow Submarine". Just a tad surreal!
I didn't know anyone could hate Ringo Starr. He's one of the coolest cats in the world. Also a gifted musician. If they don't see that in him. Then they're just haters. Ringo is not the most popular of the fab four... But he was key to their success.
Ringo's beats are as intrinsic to the Beatles magic as were the others' contributions. His creativity across the different modes and styles the Beatles gave birth too is amazing. When I play a Beatles song in my mind the beat anchors the memory and that's unique and is true for almost all of their music.
@@joeymorvant161 Youth are blind to the magic in life and things people do, time and experience tend to cure that.hopefully you will find it so...as you grow.

Ringo was so Good he couldn't hear his band mates during many of their live performances due to the screaming fans and could tell the rhythm by the body language of John, Paul, George rocking in front of him.
Before I started listening to the Beatles I had the misconception that he was the ‘bad one’, then when I heard them properly I realised how amazingly creative and influential he is!

I don't remember singing it as a kid, but I definitely sing it now. And for a while, I was unsure if the yellow submarine represents something or not. I asked my mom and she thought it was a reference to some kind of pill, but nope; it's just a fun song for kids. And I'm totally fine with that
Wonderful video, thank you for giving Ringo his due, he was the Love in the band, they all obviously Loved each other yet Ringo made them feel safe and Loved, he provided the unshakable foundation and tapestry for the others to bring us the best music ever written, Beethoven himself would have joined them if he could. Ringo was just the drummer in the most popular band of all time. His playing was perfect for all the songs. What make the Beatles so great is how well they play together. They are not as technically great as Led, but no band made a better sound than the fab four, and Ringo was an important part of that. The others knew him, and asked him to join.

Hey thanks dude! I really love Queen, Simon and Garfunkle, and The Zombies.
The HollyHobs would love to see a queen video. keep up the good work!
I love your videos, and you obviously have great taste in music. Have you ever listened to Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree? I think you'll like him (them).
I had always heard growing up...(mid to late 70's), that 'Yellow Submarine', had to do with barbiturates. Downers as they called them back in the day. Of course...absolutely no source for this, other than word of mouth when I was a kid. But yeah...that is what I had always heard. Great song. Love Ringo. Love The Beatles. 👍☀️👍
The song I sing to my daughter every single night before bed...
Jennifer M when I was a little girl one of my favorite memory of my dad is him singing yellow submarine to me at night :) nice to know it’s still carrying on
My parents always played that song to me when I was little.. that might explain why I'm a Beatles fan
The Best Ringo song, along with "It Don't Come Easy".
If anything, Ringo was the Starr on top of the tree.
I think yellow submarine was practically antidepressents for elenor rigby
Well...they are on the same 45, so...
Great very informative clip...which group plays the cool guitar based soul music in the background ?
Great stuff Holly Hobs! Keep it up. I see/hear what you mean about Ringo and "A Day In The Life". Ringo's drumming sometimes plays counterpoint and sometimes plays *with* John's singing-- accompanying and emphasizing.
Ringo is my favorite drummer of all time and he has influenced me the most to pick up sticks
Hey....so glad I found your channel.... you speak so many of my Beatle thoughts...
Sometimes the best things are the most subtle, that’s how I see ringo
dont you all forget, john always work with Ringo... even post beatles..
Ringo elevated cool to a level never seen before or since.
Paul said he thinks back when Ringo became a Beatle and he gets very emotional. Ringo added that certain something in the beat and the art was complete.
Man i wish someone like Ringo was my drummer. There's so many that just learn how to play complicated stuff but never write original lines.
Ringo played 4 on the floor to infinity. He stunk.
@@joeymorvant161 he’s a better drummer than you.
Thanks for starting with the interview of John. People think John hated or belittled him. Especially after that misquoted comment about his drumming abilities (he never said it.)
i always end up bingewatching his beatles videos every night
It’s the first song that drew me towards the Beatles when I was 7
Once again you nailed it...the detractors are just repeating what they’ve heard & they think it makes them sound cool. Ringo didn’t like flashy solos. George felt the same way about over the top guitar solos. All the truly great musicians respect him. Paul consistently names him as his all time favorite drummer.
Remember Ringo doing the voice on Thomas the tank. Had a lot of talents
I could easily fall asleep listening to hollyhobs guy
Firstly, as a uniquely-identifiable drummer, Ringo has a style that brilliantly balances accompanist and commanding beat-master. Secondly, on the subject of "Yellow Submarine", I think it may have originated as "Yell out something mean" with Paul playing to John's cruel streak. Anyone here agree? Either way, it was a children's song perfectly suited to Ringo's cultivated image.
Ringo was far too simple to be even average.
I have seen that video about all the great drummers saying Ringo started it all. Ringo played for the song and not to stand out.
Ringo started nothing. He wasn't good enough to stand out.
@@joeymorvant161 If it weren’t for Ringo, many of the greatest drummers wouldn’t have had music careers
@@velvetwatermelon2647 There were other drummers before him, plus while he was in The Beatles.
At the time of the opening clip with John, Ringo was more popular (in the middle of a streak of 7 consecutive top tens). His only problem was that he was never a prolific writer & dependent on (to paraphrase) help from his friends. That’s why “Ringo” is such a perfect pop-rock LP.
I don't know what world you live in but in the world I live in everybody loves Ringo.
Yellow Submarine is an excellent singalong song. I pull it out of the hat at parties.
Lol....
My first memory of the Beatles is singing Yellow Submarine at a karaoke on holiday in Spain! I was about 6 years old
Many years ago a friend was telling me that he walked into the Grapes pub in Mathew Street in Liverpool.
He couldn't be key to his own success. 4 on the floor all the time is not gifted.
Great content, such a creative idea for a channel, very interesting stories, awesome work keep it up Hollyhog!
Ringo had more hit records from 1970 to 1975 than any other Beatle
Ringo's beats are as intrinsic to the Beatles magic as were the others' contributions. His creativity across the different modes and styles the
Beatles gave birth too is amazing. When I play a Beatles song in my mind the beat anchors the memory and that's unique and is true for almost all of their music.
Never.
@@joeymorvant161 Youth are blind to the magic in life and things people do, time and experience tend to cure that.hopefully you will find it so...as you grow.
@@dougreimer2912 That's a very nice way to put things. But Ringo was very basic.
Ringo is my favorite Beatle
Ringo is the most underrated Beatle and that’s a fact
Only in an alternate reality, where "fact" means "fiction".
Paul was tapped into the Akashic records of universal conciousness.
The Beatles would not have been the best group or the famous fab 4 if they didn't have 💍 Ringo Starr 2 be drummer and it wouldn't have been no John Paul George and Ringo if Ringo Starr wasn't the drummer
Would've been even better with any other drummer.
Your videos are fantastic! As a long time lover of Ringo I really enjoyed this video. I subbed!
Ringo is so talented 🌻🌻🌻
Less. Talentless.
Ringo was so Good he couldn't hear his band mates during many of their live performances due to the screaming fans and could tell the rhythm by the body language of John, Paul, George rocking in front of him.
I got to see Ringo in 2016. Greatest show ever
Where did you get that yellow boxed drum toy set?? (If that’s what it is)
Hey.. can you tell me from where did you get those Beatles miniatures placed at the back ?
Eleanor Rigby please
The Rolling Stones' Brian Jones was at the party too! He's the one clinking the glasses :)
And also the ocarina.
Before I started listening to the Beatles I had the misconception that he was the ‘bad one’, then when I heard them properly I realised how amazingly creative and influential he is!
"Peace and love, peace and love.Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October! I have too much to do, so no more fan mail! And no objects to be signed. Nothing!!! Anyway, peace and love, peace and love"-Ringo Starr
My dad played me yellow submarine when I was just a little kid it’s the first song I ever remember hearing now I’ve got a yellow submarine tattooed on my arm lol
.this is one of your best videos
I don't remember singing it as a kid, but I definitely sing it now. And for a while, I was unsure if the yellow submarine represents something or not. I asked my mom and she thought it was a reference to some kind of pill, but nope; it's just a fun song for kids. And I'm totally fine with that
Love ur channel
I don't know if it's because of Ringo's drumming or the writing of the song but there is not one Beatles' song that one can dance to.
Thank you again!
Ringo was just the drummer in the most popular band of all time. His playing was perfect for all the songs. What make the Beatles so great is how well they play together. They are not as technically great as Led, but no band made a better sound than the fab four, and Ringo was an important part of that. The others knew him, and asked him to join.
Gotta hand it to you for this one bud, 💯
The drumming on the Abbey Road album especially, is a conceptual masterpiece of rhythm.
Couldn’t agree more. The sound they produced during those sessions are unparalleled to anything I’ve heard before. Carry that weight intro was so well done I can’t even put it into words. Plus Ringos voice sooo stands out in that song.
My daughter loves The Yellow Sub..first song she remembered
What did I just watch? Great psychedelic vid!!!!!! And it's all about Ringo and love. Effing Ringo!! Ringo!!!!!!!! Ringo!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Norm MacDonald reference)
Can you please do rain next and link the video sources you use?
Yea I'll see if I can do that soon.
I always felt like Ringo's percussion was like a second set of lyrics to the song
Wow man. Deep. ... .meaningful
It’s the classic technical vs feel. It’s just that many people don’t consider drums anything more than just background.
I Love the HEY ARNOLD! style background music 😎
Thank you for this. I always thought Ringo should have gotten more respect.
I don't know, when I was younger, 🥁Ringo🥁 was the most popular Beatle. Him & Paul! But 🥁Ringo🥁 was more popular than Paul! So, I don't understand where all this ragging on 🥁Ringo🥁 came from!
Because his playing was basic and nothing more.
Redo your research, Yellow Submarine was written by five people: John, Paul, George, Ringo and Donovan. Paul McCartney always gets stuck on lyrics and asks others for help. Mal Evans helped Paul write "Fixing A Hole".
Also, Brian Jones was the only Rolling Stone on Yellow Submarine.
As far as I'm concerned, Ringo being the Drummer God of rock is an indisputable fact. Beyond that he's an amazing human being. Paul and George were understandably devastated when John was taken from us but it was Ringo who rushed to be there for John's family.
I Love you channel, Love & Peace from Germany bro
Ringo is a master accompanist, and in that regard the most talented of all the beatles.
Please! No-talent lucky sob.
