Went to Shiprock a few years ago. Couldn't find the road, but did find a public Navajo road--there was a wonderful pull over and nobody bothered me, I sketched there for an hour or so. I had an amazing view and yes, it was so peaceful. Not much traffic on this road. Ate at a great little cafe--lamb stew and fry bread. Stayed in Farmington. Btw, there is a terrific Italian restaurant there.

@@TheWestisBig Lonely with long lines at the big attractions. Did a loop through Yellowstone and the Tetons in June. They were certainly crowed but then we did a five day hike in Wind River, saw about ten people total there.

Nice video, love this country. Grew up here and with a little research just as you, you can find gems. Hovenweep is one that is really nice. Sprial columns were said to be made at the same time that castles were being built in Europe.

about the crowds - US population has doubled over the past 50 years. This population pressure is destroying much of the remote, quaint, open spaces of solitude that were so common. Very sad!

I never understood how someone can say where you can or can’t camp for a night or two? There’s so much land, I literally don’t give a damn. If it’s chill and I’m not bothering anyone I’ll camp wherever I damn please.
With social media dont count on it. Horseshoe Bend went from about a 1000 visitors annually to 2 million in a year or two thanks to instagram and selfie culture.

That's a huge joke No such thing as a million years. Maybe a few thousand. Look at observed erosion rates in other areas and you'll know what I mean. Modern geology is full of myths. This whole area is less than 4,000 years old, tops. The Great Floid formed mist of it inside weeks.
Just curious how do u explain away radio carbon dating? and where did all the water go after the flood. This area is 5000+ feet above sea level. that much water covering the entire earth- including the oceans- is a lot of water and a lot of salt! Where did it all go? Is there a giant magic drain?

"Giant drain" in all likelihood was the Grand Canyon formed within days or even hours from the cataclysmic upheavals of the Genesis Flood. Mediterranean Sea etc were other channels. A lot of big-time shit happened during that period. Remember, the high ocean waters didn't have to "go somewhere" - they formed the new oceans as mountains rose. Mountains are full of stratification evidence from recent past, including inclined levels of rock from rapid formation. I know my Rockies. Geologists talk a lot about the upheavals of new volcanic islands and plate tectonics, but are reluctant to admit it can happen FAST. It can, and does. As for radioactive dating, there's too many errors. Carbon dating only works to a certain degree. Other dating methods are full of error factors. IE, there is no proof at all of a 100% steady decay rate. Even light has changed its speed over time (proven in lab tests by Barry Setter etc). A lot of our water is now subterranean, and most mountains were formed rapidly by these upheavals... study the erosion and you'll see what I mean. The same geologists who claim meters of erosion around the Niagata gorge within thousands of years, for example, claim millions of years in mountain ranges or grand canyons. That doesn't compute. The planet is YOUNG. Good questions. Just study and look closer. Imagine the Grand Canyon under erosion for tens of millions of years (one of my favorite subject on this) and you will wind up with a barely noticeable plain, not a dramatic deep gorge... I've walked down to the Colorado River ... saw it all - the non-eroded sheer cliffs etc. No such thing as a million years except on paper. Institute for Creation Research is a great, honest source.

That's what I noticed from street view. It's open and I don't see any signs. I'll be visiting in a couple weeks.
