I just replaced mine following these directions. It took me an hour and 30 minutes. It was really easy if you follow his instructions. Other videos have people doing it without removing the drum, but the person that made the video stated it took him over 2 hours to get the back screw out of the element. Do yourself a big favor and follow these instructions and it will go very smoothly.i got an element for $36. Service company wanted $300 to fix it. Saving $264 was well worth 90 minutes of my time. Very helpful , could not done it with out you. Only comment, is the back single screw on element that need short screw driver. If it can not be turned, use a pair of vice grips to start it loose, and a stub Philips ratchet to get it out. Screw can be corroded in place like mine was and needs some torque to get it started loose. It fought me the whole length of the screw. Also pre-tap the new unit for this screw with said screw before in place. It will make starting it a lot easier when in place, and if like mine, I fought it all the way in. Heads up to Frigidaire engineers ! You bone heads could not have rotated that screw flange mount 45 degrees, to make removable and mounting access a little easier .
I love this video and I've used it twice now. I would add that you need to pre drill/screw into your new OEM part for easier assembly. If not you will spend hours wondering why the existing screws don't fit.
Great, helpful video! Changed out heating element successfully. Part costs was a little over $150. A nice addition would have been to test the three coils with a multimeter to confirm a broken coil. The middle coil was broke in mine which made sense that it took longer to dry with only two of three working. Be sure to vacuum all the lint out. The. Little pieces get into the heating element and fry when the coil heats up.

The secret to making the element last longer is to bite the bullet and fork over enough cash to order the replacement part directly from Frigidaire. It is significantly more expensive, however, it is built to last you as long as the original part did and once you factor in the cost of your time and aggravation, it is well worth it to pay for a part that lasts 10 years, because seriously who has time to spend 2 hours completely disassembling their dryer every 2 months? You get what you pay for. Now, that being said, if you’ve only got $30 to spend, go ahead and buy the knockoff, it fits and works just fine, but be fully prepared to relive this entire experience every two or three months.
Great videos, as always. I just picked up this same model dryer that was set out on the curb. The previous owner said it was taking too long to dry a load of clothes and didn't want to invest in a service call. Their loss, my gain. I'll start on on it's repair tomorrow. There was no mention of an error code indicating a defective heater. Also, you probably had two screws left over from the front panel reassembly, the one's inside the front door. I would have liked to see the reccording paused for a few minutes while all the lint was vaccumed up. I'm a little OCD when it comes to dirt. I also like to lube the drum rollers while it's all apart. Thanks for the video and helping so many DIY types save a few dollars on their repairs.

All I had to do was remove the rear plate (covers the entire back of the dryer) and vent tube then the element was right there. You have to wiggle it around a little to find the clearance to get it out but it wasn't hard at all. With the method in this video, you pretty much break the dryer down completely.
Mark Kohutek, I don't think you k know what your talking about. This guy is telling you the right way. You can check the hearing element w multimeter, but you can't replace it. There's 2 screws on the front side of the element that's impossible to get to without taking the tub out. Don't screw people up by commenting bad info. I almost listened to you but thank God I didn't.
Can you make a video on how to change the wheel bearings on the drum because they're making a lot of noise I guess it's the two front ones I have a Frigidaire Affinity dryer

IF THE MANUFACTURER would simply design an access door on the side of the dryer, anyone could replace the heating element in under FIVE MINUTES!! What a stupid design!
@@bagriffith5742: Right? Bury the ONE most likeliest component to fail - in quite possibly the lowest and furthest back area of the entire assembly - requiring a nearly complete disassemble of the entire unit to replace said component at least every-other year - depending on use.
1.5 hours and $40 later (heating element only) I have a working dryer again! I did get to the end and had two stainless screws left. Went back to the teardown and he removed these from the lint filter inside the door. He didn't put them back in the assembly steps.
I'm having a hard time taking the front off- it doesn't seem to want to budge. I followed your screw removal and wire removal instructions but it doesn't slide off with force or with ease. Thoughts?
Thanks for posting this video, it was a huge help. However, now that I replaced the heating element my dryer is smoking and smelled burnt after running only 2 or 3 minutes. I unplugged and opened up the top & front panel and I don't see anything that looks burnt but it was smoking.. not sure if it's normal or not after replacing the heating element?
You may experience a bit of smell from the coating on the element housing, but it should not produce any smoke. Look for lint that may have gotten into the element housing and check all of the wire terminals for a loose connection.
I did vacuum out an entire canister of lint from the inside of the dryer before installing the new heating element.. it was everywhere. Maybe the smoke was from loose excess lint getting kicked up and burnt, I'm not sure. The wires look okay and I don't see any visible pieces of lint in the new element. I'll try it out again later this week. Thanks for your quick response, much appreciated.
