- Amanda Abbington should just be concentrating on the day job.
She has a new play about to be staged at London's Park Theatre, rehearsals have started and she is doing what is expected of her to promote the play.
But interviews invariably centre around the storm that has enveloped her since she left Strictly Come Dancing, amid claims of abuse and cruelty from her dancing partner Giovanni Pernice - claims he has strenuously denied.

well, it wouldn't be the first time the BBC tried covering something up.
The fact that they will not release the footage is telling.
Not when the investigation hasn't concluded yet. Since when did evidence in an investigation have to be released to the public, you are not owed sight of anything except to know the conclusion of the investigation. Entitled.
If it's an ongoing complaint and she's not able to discuss details then why is she going on National television? The investigation hasn't even finished. This speaks volumes
Amanda raised concerns about Giovanni on day 3 of Strictly, back in August/September 2023, so most reasonable people would deem that long enough to have stayed silent!

It takes people to speak out to be taken seriously. My old drama teacher (Julie Spencer - principal at ArtsEd, you can Google it) tortured students for years but it wasn't until a leaked audio was released to the press that they finally looked into it. She since 'resigned' but only because the investigator saw substantial reason for disciplinary action. Unfortunately these things need to be publicised. Plus it's the BBC, they covered up Saville for long enough! I don't blame her for speaking out, hopefully it stops them sweeping it under the rug, which they are notorious for.
What an actress she is. I guess she isn't being paid for any of these interviews. Channel 4, ITV news, Lorraine. There were rumours that she would cause trouble if she participated before the show started.
This seems a bit odd to me. Roxanne Pallett comes to mind.

She is gaslighting. She has admitted that she thinks she is entitled to a pay out from the BBC. Her face and body language makes me think that she is being economical with the truth. Her accusations are getting wilder and wilder and even more defamatory. Day 3 and she says Giovanni hated her.Well he did a very good job of turning her into a very good dancer. This all stinks and personally I think this is all rubbish. The woman has mental health issues that need to be sorted and I hope the truth is allowed to come out because Giovanni does not deserve this if he is innocent.
She just wants attention and a big pay out, I don't believe her....

I watched her interview. I’ll be honest i don’t follow either of them on social media, but I did pay attention to hers after she left strictly. Where are these ‘death threats’ she was talking about? I saw quite a few comments referencing her partner being jealous. I didn’t see any death threats though, unless they were deleted?

The bbc is blocking even her lawyer seeing the footage, really tells you all you need to know. It’s a dirty tactic, they’ve neglected their duty of care and should be liable to be sued. The “sexual nature” was brought up by Krishnan on C4 news, which he reported from another unnamed source (I.e. not Amanda herself which maybe why it was ok for him to report it)
Amanda complained about Giovanni on day 3 of Strictly, back in August/September 2023! I think staying silent for almost a year is long enough!!!!!!! 🧐

I don't believe a word Amanda says, but I do believe Zara McDermott for obvious reasons. Amanda is attention seeking and wanting a big pay out, her behaviour has been appalling.
As someone who knows her, I can tell you she didn't making it up, she's one of the most genuine, beautiful people I know. If you don't know her you shouldn't comment.

Scared to speak out !!! These powerful women. These adults !! They can’t speak up for themselves and say “No I need a break” or “ Can you show me a different again lr another way. She didn’t like him telling her “again” omg That’s what all dance teachers say repeatedly.. “again” “one more time” “No” “better” “yes try again” that his yiu learn but it just didn’t suit her in any way shape or form I could see that before she left the show
My God how bloody ridiculous. I’ve been standing up for myself since I was a child and I’m still doing it at 66 yrs if she. I csr not what other people think and I would not put up with what she’s allegedly put up with. As for liaising with the others yrs later how ridiculous.
On a Thursday when she’s says it was “unworkable “ She could have just given up and said I can’t hack it give her reasons and git outta the show. She admits to being affected by previous abusive relationships . Triggers she says and of course that can happen but I fear she was too fragile for the tough training involved in learning to dance and I also get the impression that she feels that as a “celebrity “ an actress or whatever she’s one cut above a professional dancer and couldn’t hack him telling her what to do … to learn to dance . I felt watching her reaction to critique from judges that she was totally shocked that t she didn’t quite get it right. She looked puzzled at their remarks.

For someone who cant speak about it, she seems to ssy quite a lot in the 45 minute i terview on Channel 4 news. If wrongdoing is shown to have occurred, hen it should be dealt with at the end of the investigation. As it is shes "not speaking about it on most news channels and other programmes.

Why interview Amanda before the investigation results have been released. Obviously timed to coincide with the Professionals returning to dance rehearsals this week. If you can't talk about it now then don't hold all these interviews until she can. They show that Amanda has been clearly affected by her experience but don't show her in a very good light. She needs help and counselling.

While i think what is going on with this is wrong if i felt so strongly about my treatment i would have walked off the show she is a strong grown woman if it was so bad walk away but then you wouldn’t get paid would you i have been in that position in a job and after being touched inappropriately and i slapped the mans face i left the job that night

Of course there are a small number of fake abuse claims, but many are genuine, and people should be free to discuss their experiences. Its especially ironic when right-wing media/hateful individuals ask "Why don't so-called victims speak up?" when you read the hateful comments on here! They in fact answer their own question! Very sad to see.

You really think the bbc wouldn’t have just painted her as a crazy lady (scape goat) rather than lose their prize and beloved dancer if the rumours were false?. He’s had previous partners he was (not quite as) nasty to, plus the bbc withholding the footage really doesn’t make it look as if Gio is innocent. The fact Gio has left even before the investigation is finished, the bbc didn’t want the trouble of firing him, they thought it could all be brushed under the radar no?
Remember the bbc never want trouble, they’re always looking to cover their backs
