    That’s exactly what I love the most about photography. Long exposure at night. The feeling when you’re outside alone in the dark, looking for nice compositions. Feels so rewarding when you’re back home, looking at some descent pictures.
    All I can say, well done, you did a great job !

    Whenever I see night time shots I'm reminded of O Winston Link and his black and white photographs capturing the last days of American steam trains but at night ! For the 1950's it was an incredible pioneering achievement.

    • @brianbrooking496
      @brianbrooking496 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Green I guess sometimes yes and sometimes no. All depends upon the light-meter - Aperture- Tv - ISO looking at the millennium bridge pics, they looked super sharp. Were any of the final pics post processed or photo-stacked or something. I’d love to make mine pop like yours. The detail in the pillar was crisp.
      As I say, I am happy with my comps, but they just ain’t sharp, not sure if it’s focus, settings, camera, lenses or just a learning curve and I will figure it out eventually

    • @windupfamily
      @windupfamily 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brian Brooking I think that bridge shot was bracketed by the look of it...but either way he’s been doing this for quite some time, he’s got a good lens and knows how to edit well. Quality glass is not gonna make you twice as good as you are now but it will help

      Wind-up Kids that’s why I’m still using a beginners camera, as I want to be able to get the best from what I have and can afford. I am taking wee courses here and there, investing in myself first then equipment....still have a cropped sensor...

  • @davidtrill4347
    @davidtrill4347 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I believe you might be mistaken when you stated setting your focal length to 9mm is equal to 18mm for a full frame camera. I think it works the other way around and equals 6mm on a full frame sensor. Different makes of cameras have different crop factors, but any sensor less than full frame converts the lens to a longer f number than full frame. Half-frame cameras usually convert by 1.5 or 1.6.

    • @davidtrill4347
      @davidtrill4347 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought I ought to comment on my above statement, I was wrong in assuming use of a half frame DSLR, I relies now that you were using a new mirrorless four thirds camera which as you rightly say converts to double the focal lenght of a full frame camera.

      @@theschoolofphotography could u recommend one specific for the Nikon d3200 that's not super expensive but not cheap junk. I want quality but for a decent cost if possible .new to this I got a camera and 4 lenses but none that I think I will use other then the Nikjor 50mm but that's not a wide is it? Maybe it is and I'm slow to this lol. But the other ones I got is a telescopic sigma 70-300 I believe and a macro to mount on the end but the looks and I have an nikon 18-55 .

    What about imageStabilisation? Would it help on the tripod on the moving bridge?
    Normally you turn is off on a tripod - so I am really curious

      Over a 30 second exposure I'm not sure it would help. That camera has IBIS and it was on during that shot. To be honest you have to zoom in quite a bit to see the movement but it is there. Hope that helps 👍

      @@brianbrooking496 looks like an Olympus OMD EM-1. Either mark II or mark III, I'm not sure. I think it's mark II as I didn't catch the mark III left of the lens, and because mark III is quite recently out and is not an auto upgrade.

    My request would be not only to show the aperture and ISO and focal length, but also the histogram! Because my problem is with night photografy that most of the time I´ve complete dark pixels AND complete white pixels, especially whith fotos in the streets. And nobody tells you how to avoid this or what is ok and what not. That would be something new in the internet!

    THE result was too dark. and far different your sample. Whats the problem.
    More better you will show and keep close your camera settings tonsee exactly. Thank you
