And It's thanks to people like you that we get fantastic indie games that would have been drowned out otherwise. Every time an indie game succeeds it gives us motivation ourselves :) Best of luck to all the games mentioned, and I hope you'll get to try out our game GRIME when it comes out a month from now! The Black hole absorb mechanic was influenced somewhat by Raziel's soul sucking from Legacy of Kain so I trust you may appreciate that resemblance hehe
Compared to some other games on that list Grime is relatively high profile in the sense it got coverage on multiple prominent websites and the footage looks impressive. I hope it will be successful! Only consideration I have is that I prefer playing those kind of games on console. So waiting out on the Steam launch in hope of a console release is a bit of a dilemma since it might prevent the success needed for a console port later on.
Respect for covering this stuff, some of my personal recommendations to keep an eye on/wishlist are Heavenly Bodies, Hazel Sky, Moncage, Chasing Static, Tchia and Trek to Yomi!

Great to see some Indie coverage from you, I wouldn't say no if this was a more regular thing, even 3-4 times a year would be fantastic as there are so many Indie games that need the exposure they deserve.
Finding great indie gems sometimes feels like an impossible task. But they are out there and there is a community searching for them. We need more exposure and videos like this build the bridge between the passionate devs and the players who want games made with heart in the right place. Thank you and please continue with this type of coverage.
It makes me very happy that indies are getting more attention. Honestly, my most favorite games in recent years are all indies. They offer everything for everyone. The most obscure genres, the most intricate tastes.
I've once seen in an article that only 5% of all indie developers ever make a profit. So if you're an aspiring game dev or maybe you have a library of Steam games but nothing to play, make sure to support indie devs.
He's my favorite artist and I was blown away by Sable. I can totally see the inspiration in the clips shown. I'm not sure how intensive it is to design environments like that but I would love to see more games take that art style further.

Well with the coof halting things and AAA just being all round shit, can't say I'm surprised. I myself stopped really caring about "AAA" after the abomination that was Cyberpunk, trust and faith is a thing AAA companies and studios will never regain from me.

Sable’s movement and gameplay feels a lot better than it looks. The 24 FPS player animations and such put me off at first, but when you actually play it, it feels amazing. The story also seems like exactly the type of story I need right now. Super excited for this one.

Having a guided tour of new and upcoming interesting indie titles brings back fond memories of TB's efforts to highlight things worthy of being highlighted in this area, and now I'm feeling way more emotional than I thought I would today. Ubisoft presented gay dancers for diversity. The official E3 YT channel had streams featuring Anita Sarkesian, the OK Boomer Girl, something called Pablo Drag Queen and panels featuring self proclaimed Latinx and BIPOC folks talking about their video game struggles. Need I go on...?

It's really sad when there's a showcase in E3 that actually features some indie game trailers, and then 90% of reactions are just "Boo bad graphics" and "boring skip pls", I wish people actually gave indie games a try and appreciated the amount of work and passion that went into them, instead of buying into the hype for the next soulless Ubisoft open world game or the next military shooter...
Eh, while I agree, I disagree that Ubisoft-games are necessarily soulless. Well, I'm coming from the latest "AC"-angle. People don't give what they DID put into that enough credit either and people like you just listen to people like Ralph shit on it while not giving the details credit. - I'm not saying they are (or it/"Valhalla" is) the best game ever, not even close. I'm not even disagreeing that it's bloated and all that stuff. But there's more to it than that. - Anyway, again; I agree that people should stop looking at the AAA-stuff and measure games by how good they LOOK or what kind of technology they use (although, even the indie-stuff could be using some impressive techniques, as they're inventive). - But we can't avoid this anymore, because the general audience, which has become a newer generation, grew into this stuff and has been brainwashed to prioritize superficial stuff over substantial stuff. - It's really easy to also ride the "EA/Ubisoft hate train", but I really resent people who don't give credit where credit's due, no matter indie or AAA status. @@michaelmonstar4276 You make some good points, I've enjoyed Ubisoft games in the past but the last few years they seem to try to stuff their games as much as possible with filler content, AC games used to be 20-25 hour games with some decent side content and collectibles, but nowadays with Odyssey and Valhalla they turned into 100+ hour long bloaty fetch quest filled games, I had hoped with Valhalla they'd scale down the map and make a smaller more focused experience that's shorter but better crafted, but unfortunately they delivered another Odyssey. I can recognize that a lot of passion went into it though, the narrative was interesting, the characters too, and of course the amount of historical research that must have gone into it is mindblowing. But there were a lot of good ideas that ultimately went to waste, most likely thanks to the executives that only care about games that sell instead of games with heart, not to mention they snuck in microtransactions into the game months after release just to avoid the backlash from reviews which is just such a shitty move that only Ubisoft and EA are capable of making.
Dude! This is my favourite video series so far. Being honest some of my best gaming experiences over the last few years have been from Indie games, they are so fresh and so exciting. Would love more of these vids my guy!

Damn. That White Shadows game makes Limbo and Inside look cheery and optimistic. A lot of the games featured here look really cool and fun. Good on Steam for showcasing them, and SkillUp for taking the time to feature many of them as well.

Nice of you to do this!! I haven’t heard of most of these titles. I *just* heard of Risk of Rain from one of your past videos and purchased both of them a month ago! The 3D UI in Chernobyl Liquidator Simulator looks amazing! I wish more games would do something like this. It’s a cross between Metro’s bracer and a 2D design. It’s gorgeous. THANK YOU for this. I've really gotten into indie games the last few years. As a 30-something, I find I have less and less time (and interest) to sink into 100 hour, microtransaction filled, copy and paste AAA games. There are so many beautifully creative indies out there that offer more compact experiences at less than half the price, and I appreciate you pointing me in the direction of my next few adventures!

You should start putting more Indies in the weekly released games compilation.
I really don't want to get spammed with garbage games, so once a month should be just fine.

But there were a lot of good ideas that ultimately went to waste, most likely thanks to the executives that only care about games that sell instead of games with heart, not to mention they snuck in microtransactions into the game months after release just to avoid the backlash from reviews which is just such a shitty move that only Ubisoft and EA are capable of making.
Dude! This is my favourite video series so far. Being honest some of my best gaming experiences over the last few years have been from Indie games, they are so fresh and so exciting. Would love more of these vids my guy!
your content is always so good and videos like this really help small devs out. you just supported a ton of people with a single video and i think that should be acknowledged. i went to subscribe to the guy behind song of iron and noticed you've made an impact already. i just wanted to say something about what you're doing because its really beneficial to the industry, you created revenue and attention for people that might really need it and deserve it
Skillup you, Yong and very few others are doing the gaming industry a huge honor. Gaming’s freaking heroes right now. This was marvelous I hope u continue bringing us these indie showcases in the future and man I wish they had these indie demo events on Switch as well.

Sable's demo was probably the one I played the most this year. Such a cool game. You can also sit down on the ground by pressing down on the d-pad.

This is awesome, thanks for this. Tired of the disappointments of AAA games and the constant pushing of micro transactions. I've turned to indies for a great gaming experience for a good price, much more deserving of my money than AAA's.

The 3D UI in Chernobyl Liquidator Simulator looks amazing! I wish more games would do something like this. It’s a cross between Metro’s bracer and a 2D design. It’s gorgeous. Not gonna lie, I’m probably going to buy and play everything here.

Shady Knight strongly reminds me of Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, but with an updated movement scheme. Seems neat!
Sadly everything else is subpar, no real singleplayer, super simplistic graphics, it's just a couple of meaningless challenges put together.

THANK YOU for this. I've really gotten into indie games the last few years. As a 30-something, I find I have less and less time (and interest) to sink into 100 hour, microtransaction filled, copy and paste AAA games. There are so many beautifully creative indies out there that offer more compact experiences at less than half the price, and I appreciate you pointing me in the direction of my next few adventures!
