As an adopted child, I cried. I , too, needed a mother and God gave me one, who loved me and nurtured me till she died. Mother’s are special angels....they were born to give love.
Not all moms, unfortunately. You are very lucky to have had such a loving mother. I was an unexpected, unwanted and unloved child and, of course, it has colored my entire life. I often wish that she had just put me up for adoption so that a loving woman, someone who wanted to love and nurture me, could have raised me.
I don't why TH-cam recommend this, I'm not a country boy or into farms or horses or any of that... But I absolutely loved this and soaked up every minute of it. Beautiful beautiful beautiful.
I'm crying again. How beautiful. If you don't have horses, please know how special this really is. Not every mare will let a foal near her that isn't her own, let alone let them nurse. Queen Unique is truly a special mare.

I’m so sorry for your loss I’m a mom of an extremely sick boy that I almost lost so many times. Maybe you can find comfort in nature. When he was the most sick, I watched panda Cubs and their moms. I’m so sorry my friend.....
Oh my goodness, When she was eating just after she lost Star I thought "oh well at least she's not sad" but wow when she sees the little baby boy she got so excited and you realise how much she was waiting for him to come back to her
@@christinerobinson9372 some animals dos´t seem affected in the slightes if their Babys die, some are so affected that they starve them self to death. Both sides happen in Nature. So it is not a matter of course that she eats again straight away.
@@ATypiclaNPC For an animal as large as a horse, whose food is a low source of energy, it is a matter of course that she must eat again soon after the loss. Animals that don't seem to mourn the loss of babies (and I don't assume that they don't mourn because they don't show emotion as we do) are usually ones that have large litters multiple times, and they seem to love their babies as a group, not as individuals. So a dog that has a litter of six or eight puppies seems not to notice that one didn't make it. She still has all the others to worry about and protect. A dog that gave birth to one or two puppies and loses them both definitely shows behavior we can understand as mourning. An animal who gave birth to one baby, a baby that she carried for many more months than a cat or dog, may be more likely to mourn that loss. Losing an only baby is much more noticeable than losing one of eight babies. Even so, how do we humans know whether or not she is mourning when her very large body requires food, so she eats? Add the fact that although she is a large and powerful animal, she is still a predated animal and she must move on to protect herself. But look at Unieks body language when she hears and sees that baby being brought to her. It is very clear that she is filled with joy.
@@christinerobinson9372 oh sorry i think u got me slightly wrong there 😅 I actually wanted to take 2 of the probably biggest opposite reactions that can occur and thought it was obvious that there are all the variations in between. And I'm assuming that animals don't feel so dissimilar to us, maybe not that conscious but similar. But that just my guess, but i know that it is a fact that animals do feel. And even something or more like especialy something like "mother-love" (idk if there is a actual english version of this word), is a nature given Thing.
@@ATypiclaNPC My apologies, I did understand your point but felt the need to mom-splain it. I wanted to point out the "why" of the different reactions of animals who birth litters and those who birth a single baby. And I am incapable of 'splaining in less than one hundred words. Got it from my mother, who could let you know what you did wrong for three days without pausing for breath!😉
Yes, she accepts him. She knows he is not Star but she also knows he needs a mother. She would take care after him. She will feel better too. I am very sorry for Star, little baby.
They both somehow knew that they need each other. Her needs her milk and protection and she needs him to care for. And they both need each other to heal from the loses they had. Uniek really wants to be a mom.
Uniek and the other Friesians will also show him how to move like a dressage horse. Movement is part conformation, part instinctive and (interesting to this dog trainer) part learned. So if you have an orphaned Thoroughbred foal, ideal is to find a Thoroughbred foster mare so that the foal learns to move like a race horse. And if you have a warmblood/dressage horse, a Friesian is an ideal foster mother to teach him to move big, like a dressage horse. Training can shape movement but having the good fortunate of finding a foster mare who moves the way you want the foal to move lets the foal get a half step forward from the very beginning. So very many blessings from two tragedies.
Bless you for taking him in. I'm also adopted and my parents took me in as a preemie, not knowing how I would do. It's beautiful you have each other now. 🌷

My mare had twins and, as is so common with twins, they both died. I put the word out and before 24 hours passed, I had news of a foal who needed fostering. I took the mare there and my girl just said "a live one! For me? Thank you". She grew her adoptive baby into a fine young colt. It's amazing how strong their need to mother is.
Euh....Twins ? why continue the pregnancy? Twins is very dangerous for the mother. It is normal to terminate the pregnancy as soon as possible to save the mother ... for that also it is necessary to follow the gestation from the beginning... Unless it's an accident, having twins is stupid and dangerous...

The second worst situation every horse owner dreads: Losing the mare or the foal. Losing both the mare and foal is the absolute worst. It is so fortunate you were able to have something beautiful created from two tragedies.
@Guided VisionWhat does that have to do with this amazing story of 2 hurting souls needing each other & then the beautiful way that this little boy's mother explained his adoption ?
I never understood why people say “you’re adopted” as a prank or insult. Being adopted means someone wanted you enough to choose you, and specifically you, to bring into their family.
I have watched this many times. Being the mother of an adopted child is the most wonderful gift in the world. My adopted baby will be 51 in a couple of months, and I still feel this way. This is my favorite video of all time.
I agree. My sister adopted her three children, I have several adopted cousins, and I always think of them as ours. I thought of them as soon as I watched this video♥️
@@purplelavender3249 you're fine a lot of non horse people make that mistake. Here is a bit more terminology, a mare is an adult female horse. A gelding is an adult male that has been altered (nuetered) and a stallion is an intact adult male.
The owners played a huge role in their horse’s acceptance of the foal. She trusted them and had a bonded relationship because of their excellent loving care over time with her…They guided her through the acceptance process…How wonderful this foal and mare found each other…Lovely!💕

Jim. Thank you for sharing your story. Mother’s are very special . GOD had HIS own plan to make both of your lives complete. 👍🏼🙏🏼
same here. me as an adopted child cried by seeing this. this mother and child were meant to be.

Oh my goodness, When she was eating just after she lost Star I thought "oh well at least she's not sad" but wow when she sees the little baby boy she got so excited and you realise how much she was waiting for him to come back to her
She probably had nothing to eat on the day of Star's birth, so it was necessary for her to eat.
@@christinerobinson9372 oh sorry i think u got me slightly wrong there 😅
I actually wanted to take 2 of the probably biggest opposite reactions that can occur and thought it was obvious that there are all the variations in between.

My thoughts exactly.
Beautifully said
Uniek and the other Friesians will also show him how to move like a dressage horse.
