Crue is terrible live. Backing track and an awful sound mix. Just letting you know to not expect much from Crue. It’s sad. Leppard will save the night, though. And Alice, obviously.
Someone came up with the term “pop metal” in the 80s (Circus magazine, I think) and the band said they were fine with it. But yeah, more pop-friendly than heavy metal like Metallica.
Yeah, to hell with those dudes. Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx are scumbag phonies who also made fun of Vince Neil when he was out of the band. Douchebags. Def Leppard is the absolute best.
I love both Def Leppard and The Crue, but Def Lep is the very first rock band that got me into hard rock at the age of 5 (1983) and will always remain my favorite rock band! Motley Crue were the second rock band years later that really took me into other rock and even heavy metal groups, here I am 40 years later loving hard rock and heavy metal!
It says a lot about Motley Crue how they forced Mick out of the band due to his disability all while Def Leppard has gave their ongoing support to Rick Allen with his disability just as friends should.
@scottyboiLP What's wrong with Mick Mars? Is it MS? I remember years ago he had trouble moving around and doctors said it'll only get worse. So I got to imagine that physically it's probably impossible for Mick to perform. And that really sucks because I love Mick Mars.
@ppiorkowski1502 Mick has "Ankylosing spondylitis", a painful bone disease that has fused his entire spine and has caused him to need both hips replaced and he has been dealing with this painful condition since his teens and it is (obviously) progressive, but Mick has endured and suffered (silently) all these years!. It may have been Micks choice to stop touring at 71 and who could fault him at his age and suffering from an extremely painful degenerative bone disease no less, but the Crue tried to F him financially and if you know "the true" history of the band, you'd know the band would have NEVER gotten off the ground, gotten their first managers, first record recorded/released, etc without Mick and his industry connections, financial backers, etc. It's the story the band NEVER mentions and what you NEVER saw in their subpar Netflix film!.. I love the band, though my opinion on them has changed pretty drastically since Micks departure and this is in no way a diss toward J5, who is just a guy taking advantage in a once in a lifetime opportunity and not responsible for any of the BS going on between Motley and Mick!..
@@dgenerated Mick made his own personal choice to leave. Why should someone continue to get 25% of the touring money, when they have decided to leave the band in the middle of a tour. NO-ONE continues getting paid once they quit a job. And it's selfish arrogance to expect as much.
Without Mick Mars Motley Crue is not going to be the same. But I guess the same thing could be said about Def Leppard their sound changed when Steve Clark died.
Just remember it wasn't completely all Steve. Listen to this song and tell me if you hear a familiar 'Leppy' tone. That's Pete Willis playing on the song. th-cam.com/video/ooCn3gksO0k/w-d-xo.html
Actually their ‘sound’ changed more from Pyromania to Hysteria (Rick losing his arm) than Hysteria to Adrenalize (losing Clark). Either way, they kept pushing forward and it’s paid off.
Nikki Sixx once said " I hope we bow out gracefully." He said that in the mid 90s. They haven't, and judging by this interview, they probably never will.
I wouldn't classify Def Leppard as Heavy Metal, but more of Classic Rock. They are my favorite band and I have seen them live many times since 1988. Thry are still as good now as they were then and I'm not kidding, they slay. I brought both my daughters to see them for their first concert and they both love them. I even brought our chinese exchange teacher to see them in 1997! She said it was the best release of emotion she had ever experienced...she didn't know any if the words but she didn't care!
Never was a huge Crue fan, they some songs I thought were okay, but didn't spend any money any of their music. Leppard on the other hand, loved their music since I first heard Hello America back in 1980. Will always have much respect for them especially staying to together Iike brothers when the shit hit the fan.
When i was in the Uk in the early 2000s my boss grew up in Sheffield and when to the same school, was in the same class as a couple of the Def Leppard guys and remembers them discussing names in class for the band one day. He didn't remember specifically that name but he remembers hearing them talk about it and knew they went on to become , Def Leppard.
I have loved motley and def leppard for a long time they both are awesome bands and beautiful men and are beautiful human beings they are 2 of my favorite bands motley4ever and def leppard 4 ever mickee mccarthy
I would never go to see Mötley Crüe ever again. Saw them many times in a 2000s including their final tour. And they suckered me once won’t be suckered again.
First Crue concert was also my first concert ever as a sophomore in HS. They opened for Ozzy at the MSG. First Def Lep show was at the old in Brendan Byrne arena in NJ with Tesla opening for them on the Hysteria tour. Went to so many hard rock/metal concerts in the 80’s In those two arenas. What a time it was!
Theatre of Pain tour my favorite of all the Crue concerts! We caughtTommy Lee’s broken drumstick!❤. 10/27/1985 Ann Arbor,Michigan,Chrisler arena! YNS opened for them. My first concert. I was 14 ready to turn 15.
The only thing disappointing about Def Leopard is that they and I are in our sixties and we won’t enjoy their incredible performances for another 46 years. The 80’s will never be matched for its many bands, music and artists ever. I am ever so glad that Def Leopard was one of the greatest among many greats and that they survived the 4 and half decades still going strong.
Having spent most of my 55yrs born here in North Carolina, my love for Def Leppard and The Young Ones for 40yrs has made me seem a little warped, but I wouldn't have it any other way. 😵💫🤣
Same here and greetings from New Orleans. I remember going to see motley Crue and opening band was Guns and Roses. This is the tour when Tommy Lee had the revolving drum 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 kit. Awesome show!!!
Vince couldn't imagine not being in Motley Crue, I hope somewhere down the line they can attone for what they did to Mick? As for DL they have to be one of the top 5 bands of all time, just laid back guys doing what they love, rocknroll baby.
It takes an entire band to make great music. Along with great sound engineers, etc. A cool riff is good, but so is song writing, having a charismatic lead singer and so on. If it weren't for ALL of the guys, the band wouldn't have carried the name for so long and continued making money 40+ yrs later.
I've seen Def Leppard in concert twice and my only complaint was that the show didn't go on for hours! They're amazing and worth whatever price. They know how to entertain. Thanks to all of them!

And sacking Vince in the early 90's, whilst backstabbing him. They don't even like each other. The word is hypocrisy. Just a $ grab now.
Seen The Crue multiple times in Toronto. Always a good show.
Both Bands rocked! Can’t forget about Van Halen as well!
*_Damn Tommy looks like a younger Keith Richards now._*
That fake laugh to straight face from Vince around @10:45 lmao. He hates these guys.
Mick left because Nikki lip syncs and doesn’t play and vince too. it’s a joke.

Mick made his own personal choice to leave.
Why should someone continue to get 25% of the touring money, when they have decided to leave the band in the middle of a tour.
NO-ONE continues getting paid once they quit a job. And it's selfish arrogance to expect as much.
This interview is heavily slanted to favor Def Leppard. We never heard about their addiction issues like we did Crue's.
Without Mick Mars Motley Crue is not going to be the same. But I guess the same thing could be said about Def Leppard their sound changed when Steve Clark died.
Mick Mars is the genius of Motley Crue. Steve Clark may he rest in peace. Vivian Campbell is a great guitarist in his own right.
Just remember it wasn't completely all Steve. Listen to this song and tell me if you hear a familiar 'Leppy' tone. That's Pete Willis playing on the song.

Actually their ‘sound’ changed more from Pyromania to Hysteria (Rick losing his arm) than Hysteria to Adrenalize (losing Clark). Either way, they kept pushing forward and it’s paid off.
Im just glad ive seen Def Leppard on multiple occasions in the past yrs back to 2008. They always kickass live..
Damn Tommy is looking crazy here😂
Nikki Sixx once said " I hope we bow out gracefully." He said that in the mid 90s.
I will be so happy to receive a YES from a heart❤️ that loves what I do
theyre absolutely not metal lol theyre actually softer than ordinary rock! one of the best bands ever dont get me wrong
@@natmanprime4295 I would love to continue these conversations with you

Great interview, thanks Tara, and hi from Texas, USA.
Def Leppard and Motley Crue of the 80's was when they were best.
Motley Crue with Warrant was my firstl concert in 1989. I have seen them 8 times. Def Leppard 4 times
Hi Steve you got me beat, saw Crue three times and Leppard once. In the round on Hysteria tour.
@@kja9881 at least you got to see Steve Clark on the Hysteria tour. I never did.
I like Def Leppard's music.
i LOVE Def Leppard so much! Just saw them for my 29th show in Seattle.
Loved them both when I was a kid, looking back Motley Crüe are nutbags and Def Leppard was a class act
Never was a huge Crue fan, they some songs I thought were okay, but didn't spend any money any of their music. Leppard on the other hand, loved their music since I first heard Hello America back in 1980. Will always have much respect for them especially staying to together Iike brothers when the shit hit the fan.
1:43 wow 46 years that’s crazy keep it up guys you rock 🤘😊
When i was in the Uk in the early 2000s my boss grew up in Sheffield and when to the same school, was in the same class as a couple of the Def Leppard guys and remembers them discussing names in class for the band one day. He didn't remember specifically that name but he remembers hearing them talk about it and knew they went on to become , Def Leppard.
You mean John 5 is two years older than me? Hot damn!
I'm looking forward to Def Leonard's classical music!!! ❤ bringing it up a notch and reliving the 80s in style 😎
I will be so happy to receive a YES from a heart❤️ that loves what I do😊😊
I have loved motley and def leppard for a long time they both are awesome bands and beautiful men and are beautiful human beings they are 2 of my favorite bands motley4ever and def leppard 4 ever mickee mccarthy
I would never go to see Mötley Crüe ever again. Saw them many times in a 2000s including their final tour. And they suckered me once won’t be suckered again.
Def Leppard - All Day. Everyday. Rest in peace, Steve Clark. He was THE BEST!
Much respect to Def Leppard
First Crue concert was also my first concert ever as a sophomore in HS. They opened for Ozzy at the MSG. First Def Lep show was at the old in Brendan Byrne arena in NJ with Tesla opening for them on the Hysteria tour. Went to so many hard rock/metal concerts in the 80’s In those two arenas. What a time it was!
Great interview with two legendary bands! 🤘🏻
She seems really thrilled about doing this report
My absolute dream concert! 😎😎😎
Metalheads!!!!! 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼
💕💚🤙🏼
Two really different bands indeed !!
Def Leppard is totally talented!! Absolutely Amazing 😍 ❤😅
I am 77 years old and it'll love deflepped
Awesome interview.
I cant believe a word Nikki sixx says or Vince for that matter
Great bands on of the best of the 80s. Rock n roll for ever
I grow up with them both ! Loved them then still love them now !
I’ve never dreamt of Motley Crue without Mick Mars.
I will be so happy to receive a YES from a heart❤️ that loves what I do
The only thing disappointing about Def Leopard is that they and I are in our sixties and we won’t enjoy their incredible performances for another 46 years.
Superb interview
Phil is the most down to earth rock star ever. Amazing guitarist too.
Is it just me, or is Tommy Lee transitioning into Sharon Osborne?
Vince couldn't imagine not being in Motley Crue, I hope somewhere down the line they can attone for what they did to Mick? As for DL they have to be one of the top 5 bands of all time, just laid back guys doing what they love, rocknroll baby.
All those seconds of silence in this video almost killed my love for the 80s
Loved the 80’s wild times
I will be so happy to receive a YES from a heart❤️ that loves what I do
Aww, the memories. My two favorite bands. Their songs will live on forever ❤️
Grew up with both of these bands. Both awesome bands!
Saw them in Hannover in June.. AWESOME
I got tickets to see them with my wife in Yokohama in Nov. Can’t wait !
Sadly, the key members that made them legends through their riff creation are gone or retired. Steve Clark and Mick Mars.
Pete for that matter too
It takes an entire band to make great music. Along with great sound engineers, etc.
A cool riff is good, but so is song writing, having a charismatic lead singer and so on.
If it weren't for ALL of the guys, the band wouldn't have carried the name for so long and continued making money 40+ yrs later.
