    Can you explain the part of keeping polywrath at low hp (I get it, saves time with cry), but getting really lucky that enemies miss you even though they outspeed you. If they actually landed a hit they would have killed you, but instead they always miss and you can get away with keeping him low hp?

      This run was created with help from a bot that uses savestates to manipulate the in-game RNG for the desired outcome. Every move in Red/Blue/Yellow except Swift has a 1/256 chance to miss, so the bot can always manipulate a miss.

    This is sick. Would metronome clefable work better? Or would the text for metronome take too long, golduck could be considered due to having psychic and waterfall. Also would catching the 1% primeape in rock tunnel be worth it? You avoid rare candying dodrio and you have hjk, stoss, rock slide, and dedge from celadon tm to maintain red bar. Although that would cost time to try and find a good one but I think that could be considered. You should also submit this to tasvideos, would love to see it there. Its 2 frames faster to talk to the ss anne rival on the left, also no god cans manip?

      Clefairy only has Metronome and Double-Edge, so that would be too slow, and wild Clefable don't have Metronome.
      Psyduck is a great suggestion. I initially rejected it because it levels up slower than Poliwag, but I think it has some advantages. It starts with Confusion and Bubblebeam, which are short-delay moves, so it may have enough PP to make it to Cerulean without a Pokemon Center. Golduck's Special and Speed are slightly better than Poliwrath. The best route would probably use Golduck for the first three gyms and Lavender Tower, then catch Dodrio and use it for Erika's gym and the rest of the game.
      A Primeape caught in Rock Tunnel doesn't know Thrash. I made a test run that catches Mankey on Route 2, and it's about 30 seconds faster in reaching Cerulean City because Thrash is a very fast move. I'll also test Psyduck and compare that. I'm not planning to make a whole new TAS, but this is good information for anyone who'd like to try.
      I submitted this to TASvideos, here's the link: tasvideos.org/Forum/Topics/24971

      @@alexlamoureux1049 I don't think dodrio is viable pre e4 due to specifically rhydon (golem can gen 1 miss boom), I just now consider about thrash because its only faster if the enemy has at least 3 mons (which a lot of trainers do have, plus primeape does get hjk at 46 which you do by surge or route 9). Cerulean does sell ethers so less center usage.

      @@zuils Rhydon is a huge problem for Dodrio, however, I only have to fight 4 Rhydon to beat the game. Dodrio is so much faster otherwise; it's worthwhile even though Rhydon fights are slow. Worst-case scenario, I can switch to Golduck and it's able to OHKO Rhydon even with a level disadvantage.
      I didn't realize that Cerulean Mart sells Ether. Thank you for that!

      I've done some test runs, and I concluded that Mankey is the best choice for the early game. Psyduck is faster than Poliwag but slower than Mankey. I'm still confident that Dodrio is best for the mid game and late game. Golduck and Poliwrath are slow at KOing bulky water-types, Primeape is slow at KOing ghost-types, and Dodrio is slow at KOing Rhydon and Onix. There are a lot of bulky water-types; the other problematic Pokemon aren't nearly as common.

      @@alexlamoureux1049 nice, I figured mankey would do a lot better than poliwrath, plus there is only 3 ghost types you have to worry about and they don't have a good hp stat

    Put surf on poliwrath instead of hydro pump?

    • @alexlamoureux1049
      @alexlamoureux1049  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Surf and Hydro Pump take about 1 second longer than Ice Beam and Body Slam, because they have longer animations even with animation turned off. I only use Hydro Pump when it's the only move that can KO an opponent, and it has higher base power than Surf, so it's better despite the lower PP.

    Bubblebeam is stronger than Blizzard against an Onix.

    • @alexlamoureux1049
      @alexlamoureux1049  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The key is PP management. EXP-restoring items are hard to find and Pokémon Centers take a lot of time. By replacing Bubblebeam with Blizzard, and later teaching Bubblebeam with a TM, I fully restore Bubblebeam's power points.

    • @PKMNwww411_MkII
      @PKMNwww411_MkII ปีที่แล้ว

       @alexlamoureux1049 Bubblebeam is no longer needed after getting Ice Beam. Blizzard is broken in Gen I especially the Japanese version with a 30% freeze chance.
      I would imagine an unassisted speedrun of Pokemon Stadium 0 soloing the Nintendo Cup '97 with a Level 55 Articuno with Blizzard.
      Sure, Blizzard can miss 10% of the time. I also love it when you manip Gen I misses so that exploders miss every time.
      The low HP warning beep is still annoying, but is still a big time saver. Yellow doesn't distort cries, but does skip jingles.
