  • Set out for an epic first start, at least we had FUN! Before starting the tri-power 350 in the hot rod mini truck, we needed to finish up a few things. Plumbing the coolant overflow tank, filling and priming oil, and installing an upper radiator hose, as well as a fuel filter with return line. Unfortunately, time was not on our side, but like always, we had fun! And next time hopefully we get that first start! Thanks for hanging out with me in the garage, subscribe and stick around for even more fun! See ya out there!
    As always, entertaining custom automotive fun in the garage for the regular guy!...

    Closer to firing it up at the end of the video than you were when it started! I agree with the radiator hoses that are universal. Me and my buddy had to make one work because that's all we could find. We were also wiring at the time and had some braided wire loom on hand so we covered it with that. Worked great and looked good, and my buddy is pretty picky. If you go to In The Shop TV and watch his making custom radiator hoses video he shows exactly what I mean. We had done ours before seeing his video but same idea only we used a narrower piece of shrink tube to "seal" the ends and a T-bolt style clamp to clamp it. The T-bolt clamp hide the shrink tube and made it look very neat and clean. Looking forward to the next vid with this thing running.

    Great progress LT, its better to take your time at this point. First start is a stressful time and everything needs to go good. I went with the flexi hoses for the radiator though to make life easy. lol 😉👍

      I had one on my impala. I was just really hoping for a certain look on this one. If this one leaks, chances are ill end up with one on the LUV too. Hoping to start it this weekend, but you're right, gotta be patient and make sure it's ready

    Just found the channel. Cool
    Build! Next time I’d use tef tape for gas it’s noted by a yellow roll.

    • @LTscustomgarage
      @LTscustomgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Yes, yellow is a better option for fuel fittings because its denser, but all ptfe tape is resistant to gasoline. If these ever develop a leak or need to come off hopefully I'll have yellow around again, or I should probably just go buy some actually

    Any hose is better than no hose

    • @LTscustomgarage
      @LTscustomgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fact 😆 I'll be honest, I like how that one looks on that engine. Especially since I know I won't be able to find one that looks like it truly belongs to it.

    • @joeyjohnson2766
      @joeyjohnson2766 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I went through a few different hoses myself from the parts store that didn't work. I was trying to avoid those types of hoses. I bit the bullet and bought the same style. They lasted about 2 days before a small leak, but I didn't use the hair spray hack😂. I finally found some traditional types that worked though

    • @LTscustomgarage

    My understanding is that regular teflon tape isn't ideal for contact witth petroleum products. But the yellow teflon tape is supposed to be. I'm no expert, I read that when researching some stuff I was doing in one of my cars. Just my $.02

    • @LTscustomgarage
      @LTscustomgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, Teflon is chemical resistant and not effected by gasoline, but yellow is a higher density tape.

    • @LTscustomgarage
      @LTscustomgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LTscustomgarage nice, I have one on my
      307. I’ve rebuilt it twice now, still have a slight hesitation on my accelerator pump I can figure out but ultimately it still works and drives good. I can’t imagine trying to get 3 synced up lol 😂

    • @LTscustomgarage
      @LTscustomgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah that'll be another fun adventure. They worked well on another 350, I've been careful not to change anything hoping they'll just work just as well on this one 😆 wishful thinking
