I think it all depends on what you play and what you want to play remotely. One of the main differences I see is that the Katana Air is rechargeable which means it has a battery. The AC-22LX takes 8 double A batteries and it goes a long time without changing batteries. The AG-22 is geared more toward solo acoustic players while the Katana Air handles both electric and acoustic guitars.
@marcuscurtismusic The Boss Katana Air EX also operates on 8 AA batteries, the wireless transmitter has a built-in battery. The Boss Katana Air EX has an instrument input jack for non- wireless operation.
@@zakklee2556 I'm sorry, I did not know that. I was at the Boss website last night looking at it. It was a Katana amp. It mentioned recharging. Now I go look it up and some of the specs are different. I guess I am losing my mind. I have a Katana amp too. The clean amp sounds different then AC-22LX. I do have the Katana setup to play acoustic but there is a notable difference for acoustic guitar. Probably just a matter of personal preference but I use the AC-22 for solo finger picking guitar or playing classical music. I use the Katana for acoustic when I am jamming with other people and strumming chords. Both amps are great.
Really thorough video on the programming side. One more thing I was interested in was how does it present the 2 channels when using it as an audio interface. e.g. Can you get dry XLR and dry instrument on left and right respectively for recording?
There are two line outputs in the back of the amp that can be used for recording, and you would want to use both outputs. The amp simulates the condenser mics using two speakers that are slightly angled away from each other. It is a pretty cool effect. This is why you want to use both outputs when recording tracks. When mixing pan one hard left and the other hard right. Yes, you can record from the dry inputs without adding the effects. Or you can just turn the effects off. There is a mono option, but I am not sure if it would have the same effect as recording in stereo. Using a condenser mic is still the best way to record acoustic guitar, but the problem is some of the mics that would sound fantastic are also really expensive. The thing I like the most about this amp is the fact that it can take batteries. I just take it to the backyard and play for a while, and the batteries last a long time.
Thank you, can you take the USB directly into an Android phone? I assume the Katana app for android works on this? I'd really like to leave my computer out of this portable solution...thanks
I am not sure I don't use my android with my music gear even though I could. I know the back has Bluetooth but it is something extra you got to purchase. I guess that is just one way to keep the price lower.
The software is actually called AC-22X Editor. Even though it has a different name, it is laid out like all the other Tone Studio software. Which is probably why I called it Tone Studio. I have a lot of Boss gear, and each thing comes with its own version of Tone studio software. Download it here www.boss.info/us/support/by_product/ac-22lx/updates_drivers/519a5c3a-0921-4044-9a9e-b5262d4e48b9/ Get the PDF for the software here www.boss.info/us/support/by_product/ac-22lx/owners_manuals/36a899db-53eb-4c9a-8b3e-c877d2a2576b/
This little amp sounds amazingly nice.
your neighbors are lucky to hear your playing in the back yard.
This or the Boss Katana Air EX?

Do you have a link for the tone studio for this amp? Can´t find it anywhere.
Great video by the way. Thanks for that

@@marcuscurtismusic Thank you very much for your guidance, Much appreciated
Chorus should be turned off all the time. It sounds disgusting.
