This is a perfect example of technology in harmony with tradition. I’m old school, but this is functional, easy to understand, sounds great, with traditional sound and design. Genius.
If you asked me if I wanted something like this before I knew it existed, I would have said no, but actually hearing it makes me want one desperately, I can't explain it! It's so cool!
This is so exciting! I LOVE the OG Transacoustics and this adds almost all of the features I wish it had. Not sure I love losing the ability to swap batteries instead of charging, though. And though it isn't a deal-breaker, I don't love the lack of fret markers.
Thank you Pete, I have been watching the reviews roll out on this one, and I must admit when I see you and Andersons, I know I trust your input. You always deliver a very passionate and fun presentation. Thank you!
I'm honestly amazed at how good these sound. I had the first generation transacoustic and the features were neat but the 'sound' of the acoustic guitar itself wasn't great. These sound fantastic.
As many others have commented Lag guitars have already done this a while back with the Hyvibe. I have had my Lag for a while now and it's a great guitar. As with the Yamaha, you don't have to use the effects, but when they are added, it is direct through the body of the guitar - no amp/PA required, just the guitar. Not surer about the Yamaha, but the Lag allows you to put effects pedals in the loop. I have used a EHX Mel 9 in the loop to create some really interesting soundscapes. Its worth going to try the Yamaha or the Lag and see/hear for yourself how cool this is.
This is really cool and sounds great! The features are insane and really well integrated too! Only issue I have with these kind of products is no matter how well implemented it is in the back of your mind you know in a few years there'll be a new version that is objectively better and probably for around the same price.. even though it shouldn't be a factor because it's a really good instrument now and will be in the future and a better one being available wont make this one worse
@@starmorpheus You're right to a point but literally the exact same guitar without the electronics would be massively less susceptible to redundancy in the future! I'm also not saying it's a good way to look at it, just how I see it
Counterbalanced by the way acoustic guitars sound better with age. And the way this tech works, the better the guitar sounds the better the effects sound.
I ordered one immediately and I think I got the last one in Guitar Center's stock from back east before it went into backorder status. I figured that would happen. I haven't had a such a positive excited reaction to a new guitar like this in 30 years. It's a load of fun! I still have my regular great high end guitars. But this is great for inspiration and songwriting,
I also ordered mine through guitar center before they went into backorder. mine will be arriving on December 9th. 3 days before my birthday. I'm so excited !!!!
Really awesome features. Playing songs or backing tracks to play along through the guitar itself is amazing! I'm going to grab one as soon as it goes on sale in the used market.😅
Big problem with this guitar - what happens when you lose the bespoke charging cable (future expense)? Why haven't you used USB C for the cable so its easy to charge? The Battery that comes with it built in so you cant replace yourself, what happens when that fails (more cost)? but more importantly if you've got a gig planned and it hasn't charged you cant replace the batteries like with the original TA guitars. Great idea for a guitar but with stupid electrical implementation.
I love everything about this new generation except the battery life. But bigger battery = heavier guitar and more mass interfering with the vibrations, so I see the tradeoff. Hope the unit has quick-charging and/or the ability to work while plugged in
Maybe I'm easily impressed in my old age, but I would love to have one of these. I'm kinda blown away. But maybe this kind of thing has existed for a while and I just didn't know about it? I don't care about the bluetooth stuff, but the looper and effects... I just wish this was built into the Fender California series, rather than a Yamaha.
@@paulneedham9885 my preference is Fender, that's all. I didn't say Yamaha makes bad products. I've only owned one and didn't like it, but again, it's preference.
Amazing and all and I love it and it sounds great and it's totally worth it for anyone that wants one but.... I'd still take a D18 or Boucher for $3k Canadian and keep my drum/looper at my feet
I wonder how it feels to have your previous played parts vibrating through the body. Do you feel the vibration while playing? How much different it feels when you play a phrase vs when it is played back?
I have a Lag Hyvibe, and the guitar is great, but the software is a lacking. I hope Yamaha gets the software right on this. If they do, I might have to replace my Hyvibe.
I want one of these. My only reservation is the same one I have with the Fender Acoustasonic: a regular acoustic can last literally _hundreds_ of years. This thing has a lithium ion battery that's going to be fucked in a few years.
Just wondering... what is the red digital readout on the right side in the back? It keeps changing. It's not a clock. I thought maybe it was to show the volume db's in the room. But I don't think that's it either. 🤷♂️
There's a transducer (speaker 🔊 without the speaker cone) that's rigged up, its permanently attached to the inside back panel of the body and vibrates the body wood like a speaker. This new version has 2 transducers in it. I have the original version and it really does sound that loud and clean. If I hit a bass note I can feel the body vibrating. These new ones are better from what I've seen since there's all that extra functionality and the onboard effects sound better imo, just more tight and clean. This one having prob a bigger battery and having it built in is a game changer. The app extendability is also very cool. The ability to jam with yourself is prob the top selling point of this one.

Because it is still an acoustic guitar that can be played without the effects plus it would be a lot quieter if it was thinner.
