Hi Sarah, I just love your update and walkabout in your gardens 🙏😀so relaxing and inspiring!! Thank you 🙏
About your Dusty Miller, second year plants usually tend to grow better and bigger so perhaps give one or two a chance to see 😊 you are so lucky you can perennially those outside!!
I love them so much and save mine by keeping them frost free in pots each year! Its a pain to be honest but im happy to do it course they are so beautiful!!
Last summer mine got HUGE and they were so beautiful in bouquets.. even there flowers are usable in bouquets but I personally dont care much for them.
About your peas, beans and nasturtiums ( sorry that mice got to yours - those little buggers !!🤨 )
Soak them a few hours in lukewarm water inside and then do either; put them in pots in soil and you gain a few days OR put them on damp kitchen towel paper and put them in ziplock baggies in a living room temperature place- no light or light - it doesn’t really matter at first. Then when you see the first with a little taproot, you plant them into soil and you have gain a few days. The first to sprout can be anywhere from 2-4 days - the rest will follow. Someone will take much longer but be patient 😊 this way you know that the one you put in soil are good and alive.. I personally like this way and the planting can be done more sporadically but the the again I dont have a huge flower farm business 😅 so perhaps the time is better spending other way for you! But here in very early spring, perhaps the time is there.. but you should try it out with the peas, beans and nasturtiums..
You can pretty much do this with most seeds but it’s particularly useful with bigger seeds 😊
    XOXO
    Salia

I trialed growing muscari and narcissus bulbs in between my dahlias to keep the biology and microbes going through the winter. The bulbs also seemed to help keep the soil and dahlias from getting too damp x

Hi Sarah, it’s a bit of a long shot but can you not put some of your seedlings that are being taken by mice or rabbits on those things that hang down in the chicken poly tunnel? I know you’d not get many on but I’m sure I’ve seen it somewhere on TH-cam people growing them on floating tables so the mice and other pests can’t climb up anything to get them. Maybe worth a go. It’s a big poly tunnel with a lot of roof space.

Your lisianthus are doing great. Just to let you know, they take 6 months from seed to grow to flower. They are extremely slow. I usually start mine after the new year and they start blooming at the beginning of June. They like the cold and can be treated like ranunculus almost. Good luck with them.

Sprinkle some ground up red pepper on your seed trays, the plants don’t mind it but the mice hate it. We had a mouse in our house that was up rooting most of my houseplants so I sprinkled ground up red pepper all over the soil of my plants and the mouse hasn’t touched them since.❄️💚🙃 I also plan to use it outside this summer on my seedlings so the groundhog leaves my seedlings alone. I hope the groundhog doesn’t like hot spicy things 😂❄️💚🙃

Awe Sarah if I were local I would come and help, little help that I would be but at least it’s something. I’m not as able to get around as much as in my youth but I would do WHATEVER I could to help you out!❄️💚🙃

I’ve had the same results when I’ve been away from home. The first time it was heart breaking and I got a little angry. After that I did what I could before I left to keep everything happy while I was gone with better results. And I think because I got upset they took a little better care of my plants while I was away but it’s still never the same. I at least love my plants and gardens as if they were a baby, some people don’t understand that.❄️💚🙃

I'm not a flower farmer, I only have a suburban garden and allotment. But how about doing one till of the new flower field then cover with silage tarp, then sow a cover crop? Hope you have a nice holiday. If we get this new "Beast from the East" it maybe a good idea to hold off from sowing any more seeds this week and next. February has been too dry and March looks to be very cold. It makes farming very difficult.

Place your mouse traps with the open end against an object e.g wall or plant pot. This means the mouse has to go for the bait from the side and the trap is more efficient. Also mice are cautious and like to run along the edge of walls etc. Always a problem in my poly tunnel when the weather is cold. Happy hunting!

Hi Sarah me again, if you can’t suspend things from the poly tunnel roof what about tables with a massive overhang around them so the mice can’t get onto the table to them. I’m not sure if mice can cling on and walk upside down!!!

I've been toying around with the idea of spritzing the yummier plants with butter spray (the kind that you would use to train a puppy not to chew on the furniture). Obviously not with the veg crop!!! I also have used it to train my chickens not to be egg-eaters. As always, love your videos!

Will all the new plants outside and greenhouses cope ok with the -4 to -6 temperatures next week or will they need covering?

Hun you won't be able to put the chickens out side until defra allows us to even in the chicken tractor as the grass would be exposed to wild birds ... so unfortunately until the bird flu is over the chickens will have to stay undercover,, my girls love to be out so I can't wait for the ban to be lifted

Sarah sorry for being critical but by appearances it would seem you have too many irons in the fire. Perhaps you should concentrate on a few things & be able to complete a task before taking on so many that you can’t control......just a thought. You mentioned about working smarter not harder ......listen to yourself. Good luck !
