Hi Chandi, your work is great and i love all the shawls etc. you are showing us here. Unfortunately i am not a very gifted knitter, honestly just a beginner and i can't really deal with written patterns ( which didn't stop me to bought them anyway). Would you consider creating videos where you show the whole project on a platform like skillshare or something? Just an idea for the future 🤗🙏
Thank you for the blocking lesson, but thank you even more for this gorgeous pattern. Such a lovely, romantic piece. I can envision it being made up in any number of colors. My knitting is much slower than my crocheting so it will take me longer to do this. If this could be converted to a crochet pattern I would appreciate it. ❤️😊
@@ExpressionFiberArts Oh my! I have tried and love that pattern. I made two from Caron skinny cakes just to try it out and have just finished section one on a third one, this time in a gorgeous dark red in a DK super washed merino. This pattern looked difficult, but it just flows along. I have been crocheting for 61 years(yes, 61) and I think this is my favorite shawl pattern ever! Your videos are beyond educational. They are entertaining which we have all needed during this past year. Especially your outtakes at the end. I can tell you and your husband enjoy making these videos. Keep 'em coming, kiddo! ❤️
How do you know if you should wet or dry block a project? Do you or should you add anything to the water if wet blocking? Love your yarns and projects. The videos sure have given me confidence to venture to projects I normally would not have tried.
It depends on a couple of things. If the yarn you're using has a lot of sizing on it, wet blocking with a wool wash will help remove that and full the fibers. Dry blocking can be great, too, if you're doing colorwork with two or more contrasting colors that might bleed into each other if immersed in water. Garments should generally be wet blocked, but dry blocking is good for items that won't need to be washed in the future. Wet blocking essentially sets the shape for the future, which is why it's great for things like sweaters. For really delicate or luxury fibers, steam or spritz blocking is often gentler than wet blocking.
I was watching Crystsl "Bag-O-Day" Crochet and she was showcasing your gorgeous yarns and recommended your channel, so I went on over to your channel and to make a long story short I loved your content & I am now a new subscriber. ❤️ looking forward to future video's. 😊
Thank you for the dry blocking information. I have been meaning to contact you you ask if you would recommended steam blocking using a garment steamer and now you have answered my question. Thank. Love the learning videos.
Gorgeous pattern Chandi! I love it in the red! Just beautiful! The blocking tutorial was great. I need to get some wires. I have all the other stuff but with shawls I think the wires would be great! Maybe Tim can take you out dancing when it’s safe😂. It may not be exactly like a ball but could be fun!😍. Thank you for yet another beautiful pattern. Have a fantastic weekend!💗

Hi my dear beautiful butterfly ^^ I love Jane Austen and this shawl is very very amazing. I afraid about knitting this pattern. I'm not sure to be capable of. Have a marvellous day my dear ^^
Not necessarily. Usually it's sufficient to just lay it flat to dry but if you feel that the lace isn't as open as it used to after blocking I'd pin it down again. You won't need to do it every time though. 🤎
Absolutely beautiful shawl, I bought this pattern to make it as a Christmas gift for my mother 🧶🎁 She's a huge P&P fan (grew up reading it and watching every interpretation of the book with her), so it'll be especially meaningful 💕 I'm struggling a bit with the markers, however, like when the pattern asks to KTOG but the 2 stitches I'll be knitting together are before and after the marker. I'm used to working with patterns that tell you when to slip markers upon arriving at them, so by row 31 I'm stumped. Can anybody offer some help? 🤔💭
Hi there, thank you for your comment. I'll do my best to help. I have to agree it's unfortunate that the marker locations are not indicated on each RS row, however, I went through all the RS rows from Row 15-31 and the issue you're having (stitches being knit together before and after a marker) should not be happening based on the instructions. Are you positive that your stitch count is correct after each WS row and you're not dropping stitches? The stitch count to the first marker always stays the same, meaning 12. The stitch count between the 2 markers increases slowly from 2 to 8 (that's after you finish Row 31). The stitch count after the second marker varies a bit (starts at 19 then goes up and then back down; after Row 31 it'll be 19 again). I hope this will help. Please, let me know if you're still struggling. Have a lovely weekend! 💕

Thanks for the tip. I am confused by blocking. Does it mean that after every wash, one has to block a knitted item? Because washing a sweater will remove the blocking, right? And for lace, if I block a lace scarf, adding the tips and opening up the eyelets, these will disappear when the scarf is washed, right? So I would have to block it again? I’d be happy if anyone can answer this one for me. Thank you!
Generally, you don't need to block after every wash if you've blocked your knitted item at least once. The exception is lacework, which does benefit from being blocked after each wash. For those items that you're not planning to block every time, I still suggest laying them flat to dry. That gives you an opportunity to reshape it if needed.
@@ExpressionFiberArts thank you for this feedback. I had understood the principle of blocking, but the question of washing a blocked garment, especially lace, seemed counterproductive to the process. All my sweaters look like circus tents. Now I know.

I love this shawl, but I only crochet, and a beginner at that! Do you have this pattern for crochet? I just started the glacadh shrug and not finding it too difficult. I'm using acrylic. If it comes out good, I'll make it again with the nice yarn. 😊
Do you have a crochet pattern that looks identical to this? I do love to knit but I'm not a pro and I really do like to crochet more than knit. But I would absolutely LOVE to have a crochet shawl like this one! Thank you! ❤😊❤
Love your earrings where did you get them ? , and this pattern is just gorgeous , I want to do and I just gotten in your yarn for the last sweater and I just started the KAL KNIT . I hope the best to you and your husband . Thank you
Love the shawl! The pattern and colours are just gorgeous! I was so inspired that I started knitting it, however, I have a problem with the increases - after repeating rows 31-46 several times, the increases are still 2 per repeat. There is no way by row 175 I will have 74 stitches. What am I doing wrong? Hope you can help. Thanks!

Tammy, here is something similar and it comes with a full walk-through video tutorial: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/red-velvet-rose.html
Thank you
I love this pattern soo much and I am trying it on a yarn that i had left. But my flowers are becoming wonky ☹
I would have to see exactly what is happening to see the problem. Also, it could be that once you block it, the flowers will look as they should. Please write us here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/contact-us/ and we will be happy to help.
Thanks so much now I just learned what Q sand for, By the I'm looking for you DATE NIGHTB WRAP pattern , I wasn't able to find it, is i discontinue?
It should be available here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/date-night-wrap.html 😊

I love this shawl, but I only crochet, and a beginner at that! Do you have this pattern for crochet?
I just started the glacadh shrug and not finding it too difficult. I'm using acrylic. If it comes out good, I'll make it again with the nice yarn. 😊
How about our Cassia Shawl (www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/cassia.html) or Vayda (www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/vayda.html)
Eh... I love this one 🤷♀️
Do you have a crochet pattern that looks identical to this? I do love to knit but I'm not a pro and I really do like to crochet more than knit. But I would absolutely LOVE to have a crochet shawl like this one! Thank you! ❤😊❤
We don't have an identical crochet shawl... hopefully in the future. 💕💕
Love your earrings where did you get them ? , and this pattern is just gorgeous , I want to do and I just gotten in your yarn for the last sweater and I just started the KAL KNIT . I hope the best to you and your husband . Thank you
Unfortunately, I don't remember where I got them. I"m so sorry. 😣 I'm so glad that you joined our KAL. I hope you have the most amazing day! 💕💕
Thanks!
Happy to help! Please reach out for specific pattern help here and we'll get it all figured out for you! www.expressionfiberarts.com/contact-us/

Can you please put the Darcy Shawl in Crochet
We are going to work on it!
Does a garment have to be blocked every time it gets cleaned? Thanks!!
Yes, you should block your shawl every time you wash it. 😊
Hi all! How are all of you doing? I Knit. How do you knit a rose lace pattern shawl and a flower patter shawl?
Hi Gloria, there are a lot of pattern on our website. I'm not sure what exactly you're looking for but you can find all of our knitted shawl patterns here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/categories/patterns.html?_bc_fsnf=1&Craft=Knit&Project+Type=Shawls%2FWraps
Yes why don't we have balls anymore?? I have often pondered that too. Someone needs to bring them back!
Thanks for another great pattern :)
Exactly!! 😍
Do you have a recommendation for blocking acrylic fingering weight yarn?
I can't help with your question too much because I only work with natural fibers, but I found this article that might help you out: www.acrochetedsimplicity.com/how-to-block-acrylic-yarn-wet-spray-steam-blocking/
@@ExpressionFiberArts thank you so much!! I just recently discovered your channel and website...and I'm so in love! You have so many beautiful patterns available and your videos are so helpful and inspiring and calming! I'm currently picking out a couple shawl patterns for 2024 and was really interested in Euclidias which says it needs blocking. For cost purposes though, I had to go with a fingering weight acrylic I found for my next project. I just started a mock up sample to practice the stitches in Dashael too with the acrylic and wanted to try blocking it first before ordering the Euclidias pattern to make sure I could. Thank you for the link. And for all the inspiration!! Have a lovely day!
I'm looking at the pattern graph and not sure how to knit Q symbol will you please help? Thanks
Here is how you knit through the back loop: blog.expressionfiberarts.com/2019/02/07/how-to-knit-one-through-the-back-loop-k1tbl/ and here is how you purl through the back loop: th-cam.com/video/oV092cxT-bE/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps!
Hi,are the stitch markers necessary in this pattern? I don't really enjoy using them
I would suggest that you use them. I know they can be frustrating, but they would be very helpful on this projects. 💕

Can u please send me knitting pattern of this shawl
Hi Preeti, you can download the pattern from here: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/darcy.html
This info is usually also included in the description box below the tutorial.
Have a lovely day! 💕
Is there a crochet version for this pattern?
We don't have an exact crochet version but either out new Sweet Pea (www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/sweet-pea.html) or Vayda pattern would be good crochet alternatives (www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/vayda.html).
Oh I love this shawl!! Can it be done with a worsted weight? Or would it turnout far to frumpy and big?
Louisa, sure! Totally doable.
@@ExpressionFiberArts Wonderful! Thank you.
What is the best way to store a shawl like this after blocking it?
Rose, great question! I would gently fold it or roll it up and place on a shelf for short term storage. Long term, I'd put into a sealed plastic tub. :)
@@ExpressionFiberArts okay thank you!
😍💓
Thanks!
Beautiful shawl. Going to look at that yarn. Is it scratchy at all? x
Not at all. Super luxurious and soft.
