Absolutely true and what makes it worse is that Samsung send instructions how to remove it which directs you to swivel the stand arm up and then basically batter the mechanism with your hand and simultaneously pull it down until it comes off....yeah good luck with that one. I bet even the people packaging these in the factory tell anyone they know who's thinking of buying one to steer well clear. RUBBISH DESIGN!
Warning! So many people actually got help from this nicely demonstrated video but many ended up damaging their monitors including me. I used my Samsung monitor for 5 and a half years and never had I ever faced a single problem. Then I tried to do this carefully but when I removed the hinge, a vertical black line of approx .5 mm appeared in the middle of the screen. It has ruined my beautiful monitor. Those of you who will try this process, kindly keep this in mind.
My plan at this point is to heat up and resolder all the solder joints on the power supply board. I have a microscope for working on small stuff and looking at the board, every solder joint on the board is a cold joint and not making good contact. I called Samsung and the secondary number and was told to call the parts number and I would need a new screen. I emailed the parts people who said I needed to call the tech number to find the problem first, they were only parts people.
I can’t begin to describe what curse words I used toward Samsung when I tried to mount this. Thank you so much for the tutorial. Whoever designed this, needs to go back to school. Amateur hour. Thanks again
Just found this one and used it for both of my 24” Samsung screens. Worked like a charm. Reading through people’s comments on damaging their screens, a tip: no need to remove the backplate completely, just undo it enough to lift it up a little bit and slide in a screwdriver underneath to undo the two bolts.
Great video, saw what was involved and said screw it, then noticed that the base can wiggle off the arm, at least on my model. There's a seam that can be pried open and then all you are left with is the hinge part sticking out the back. In my case it's going on a monitor arm, so the little bit sticking out isn't an issue.
Three years later, you're still helping people with this. I'm moving out and couldn't pack it correctly with that stupid base attached to it. Life saver! Kudos to you, my dear sir.
I just bought a brand new one today and in frustration I was about to use brute force to remove it. Glad I did not. And after reading all the comments I am not going to risk it - I think I can still vesa mount it even with the attachment still stuck to it. Luckily I am not wall mounting but arm mounting so there won't be anything getting in the way. I had only wanted to remove it for aesthetic purposes. Mine is the 27 inch curved model.
Bro This video saved me at least 3 days, 10 headaches and actually the monitor itself because I would have been breaking it up to pieces from anger and frustration 😍
Omg...thank, thank you, Did I forget to say THANK YOu! So many videos on removing tje stand? Only yours really focuses on actually removing the stupid bracket. THANKS AGAIN.
Good video, for anyone else doing this just use a plastic prying tool or guitar pick. It won't damage the plastic and will keep the resale value of the monitor a tad bit up.
I was about to get the grinder out to cut of. Saved me as I didn't want to disassemble. I have removed it following step by step. Thanks a million. We'll explained. Fingers crossed there are no lines on the screen. Thanks again...
Thank you so much for this, I've had this monitor arm mounted for so long and every time I'd bump my desk that stupid bit would smack against my wall. I was actually so close to just taking a damn buzzsaw to it, but now I thankfully don't have to. Good tutorial worked out great
THANK YOU! I recently splurged on a Samsung curved monitor and decided to put it on a wall mount. I finally managed to get the stand off but that large bump is preventing me from pushing the monitor as far back as I'd like. I feel confident enough now to remove that bump and finally have my monitor as flush as possible to the wall.
Thanks so much for the tip. I needed this to setup an old monitor for my kid. The back cover actually came off easier than shown. But it was spot on. Now its properly mounted in a monitor arm.
Thanks a ton for this video. Really saved the monitor from getting damaged by the excessive force that I was about to use. Must be the mind of a genius behind its design.
I dont usually comment on youtube videos. But your solution made me stress free.. I am going to return this monitor bought from Costco ..and i had to remove base. Very bad base stand design !
Thank you! Made it very easy! And I really appreciate you getting straight to the point. I did not have to wait 7 minutes before getting to the information that I needed. :)
Lo subis en 2020 papá, 3 años estuve con ese pie del monitor colgado en un soporte hasta que ahora veo tu video. Sos groso, idolo, crack, titan de titanes.
Tnx, I knew what I was going to have to do, but it's still nice to watch someone do it and see whats under the cover before I pop it apart. Tnx again. Merry Christmas. ☮
This worked for my monitor but the plastic frame can crack very easily so be careful. Also when you go to put the back side on again make sure the screen is alligned properly with the frame before you snap it all back in place. I did not allign it properly the first time and went to pull it apart again and it made the cracking of the frame worse and I ended up breaking the corner of the screen resulting in the whole monitor not working and I ordered a new one. Just a super goofy design by Samsung 🤷♂️
The same has just happened to me, I had a curved monitor and could't get it to go back together. I now have a thick black line running down the middle of my screen... Im now looking for a new monitor....and it won't be a samsung :-(
Thank you for posting this, I was about to give up on this for the second time and resign myself to the stand getting in the way of my being able to angle it down on a new two screen monitor stand. Now I don't have to! Thank you!
I didn't want to trust my impression that I really have to take off the Back to remove that clumpy thing not letting me mount the monitor properly to the wall, thanks to your video I have it a try on my different model (C350), and when I finally found the last screw besides the component video Port it went off like a charm and there was the same exact plate holding the rest of the foot. I prepared to explode when I plugged it back in after reassembling, but instead of dying I have the screen now at the wall just as I wanted. Thanks bro!
WARNING - I followed this process and ended up damaging the LCD on the screen which cost me $150 to fix as opening the case voids the warranty. When I followed these steps I set the monitor on a towel on a hard surface. As careful as I was I was not able to remove the back cover without causing visible damage to the plastic. The monitor clicked back together just fine but after a day of use the bottom right corner had a blue image on it and the entire 1/2 inch of the monitor would flicker. My advise is if you is this. When you watch the first 10 seconds of this video you see the piece of plastic that is screwed to the monitor that he taps on with his screwdriver and then you see a line in the plastic where the stand connects into the base. Just hold the monitor and pull and the stand will separate.
Thank you. This indeed works. I remember assembling the stand & the retained instructions in the box that the bottom, arm and attachment to the monitor were separate but after releasing the round bottom piece had yanked and pulled with as much force as I thought the thing could take without destroying it. Anyway after seeing the video I was happy that a solution existed at all. Reading through the typically inane comment section finally proved worthwhile with your comment being the actual solution and saving me at the very least some scuffed up plastic while also helping me keep a little faith in my memory too. This is definitely the correct solution. I wrapped one hand around the nub on the back of the monitor and with the other grabbed the stalk(?) or stem of the assembly and used extra force giving it a bit of a wobble while pulling and sure as shit it popped out perfectly with zero damage or marks left on any plastic. Thanks for the comment. Saved me for sure
Word of caution when doing this, first up, stupid design by SAMSUNG, secondly, when attempting to remove backing pry first corner and side gently together as I ended up cracking the frame because the side would not release. Unfortunately after finally removing the poorly designed bracket and reassembling I discovered that I now had 2 vertical black lines running up & down my screen. There are, what looks like, multiple foils connecting the circuitry to the screen that are in line with some of the screwdriver points, I can only gather that I have damaged these as they also align with the black lines on the screen. In the end, now have to order a new monitor. Will not be a Samsung!!!
Thanks for solving that riddle for me! I was really stuck because nobody ever could intend you to open that back just to remove the stand, or could they? Now I can proceed :-)
What's worse is that there seem to be a bunch of other monitors that do the same thing, or worse (the stand ends in the middle of the VESA screws? Really?). I'm getting discouraged trying to find a monitor that will easily mount. This tutorial's great, but I'm a clumsy novice and I managed to break my samsung monitor.
Your vid definitely helped this gal out, thanks! Was pissed when I saw this design after buying it...BIG FAIL FOR SAMSUNG...but it led me to this search and your vid :) Cheers
I have a different issue. Mine is the Samsung 27" 1080p HD 60Hz 4ms Curved LED Monitor (LC27F396FHNXZA). I'm unable to tilt the screen forward or backward, it's currently stuck in a completely laid back position. So it's kinda facing upward. This is how it was when I assembled it. Do you have any idea how to fix this? I'd really appreciate it. I reckon I may have to loosen the screws at 3:40. What do you think?
Thank you. I actually tried to return this monitor just days after buying (I couldn't get a good crisp image when paired with my mac) and I couldn't find a way to ship it back because of the damn arm. The amazon seller said "just pull it out" -- and of course they would not take responsibility for the damages if it broke, which clearly it would have. They would not help me return it nor would they refund my money, so I've been stuck with this stupid thing for a year. Thank you. I thought that was too complicated to be true...but I also have the version without the VESA holes, so I had to get a universal claw adaptor. I wonder when I open this up if it will still have the metal, just not the holes. It's been a few years, but it might have been a display model at Costco. I doubt they would've made that one different....right? But I read of another person getting theirs from Costco without the holes.

Unreal...I assumed that I would have to take off that back plane, but was thinking "you got to be kidding me!"...all kidding aside, this confirms it! Thanks!
Early in the video, I thought you were being a bit harsh with the Samsung designers. I thought there is no way it could be such as bad as you implied. But, after seeing that you have to remove the entire back cover to loosen the screws for the base, I have to agree with you. Thanks putting together the video.
Thanks for making this video. This was the stupidest thing I’ve ever done with all the computer stuff I have done through the years. But thank you again. I definitely would have figured this out
It's bitter sweet. For everyone that wants to mount it like a normal person, this sucks. I don't care how good you are lol. But it worked out well when building my own mount because I was going to have the mount inside of a track, so that bottom piece became both a spacer and a support for when the monitor would slide side to side.

Great video, thanks! It puzzled me a lot. Did exactly what you did but now the monitor is not turning on! Any ideas? You think I might broke something?
Thank you good sir, I was getting so frustrated trying to figure out how to easily remove it, it looks like they made an extra effort just to make it the hardest possible.
The award to the stupidest design goes to Samsung! Thanks dude, you saved me, was going nuts.
Dude you can fucking say that again
almost destroyed the desktop.. Never Samsung again! Stupid design
Hahaha, me too! Finally got it off
God damn, no wonder this monitor was so inexpensive.
Just destroyed mine I was gonna get a new one anyway but still mad af am korean but this model of monitor @@jbdsatvv

I've never been so relieved to find EXACTLY what I was looking for on the first try. Thank you for your time and effort! Made my night less stressful.
Without this video, I'd never ever thought of disassembling the monitor just to remove the stand. Shame on you Samsung.

I can't even fathom what they were thinking when they made this abysmal design and then tacked a Vesa mount on as well. You were a huge help!
Was looking for a solid straight to the point tutorial and this worked great. Thank you!

This is way better than hand sawing the base off like I did lol. The plastic melts from the friction and it gets pretty messy!
lol
Thanks so much for making this. What specialized tools would you recommend for taking this apart with less chance of damage?
THANK YOU - I have been fighting this for days!!

Your a lifesaver for this video. I have repaired plenty of Samsung curved tvs but the monitors are way more of a headache. Worst design ever.
Just leave the top part in. You can separate the lower two parts by more or less brute force. No need to dissemble it

I found out that I can move the monitor up and down a bit during the time I disassembled this. Than you for posting this video!
