Good idea about the black out curtains. We usually put towels over our bags (no scented things in the car) for the reason you mentioned. Bears are smart.
That place looks amazing. To have that place to yourself, what a gift. I have a huge fear of bears, doesn't stop me from hiking, back in April I was at The Great Smoky Mountain National Park. My first night there I was sleeping in my car at the visitor center parking lot. I kept imagining a bear creeping up on the vehicle smelling the food in my trunk. My trunk pops open easy sometimes and I imagined a bear climbing in and tearing through the back seat and I'd wake up to a roaring bear in the car. I have been known to have an over active imagination at times. That rattlesnake at the end was incredible. I almost walked up on a timber rattlesnake on a hike. I was going along a trail and I saw a group of people up ahead and they yelled to me to stop. I froze and they guided my eyes to where it was. It was pretty incredible. it was just going about its business. It's nice that you are posting again. I really enjoy your videos.
Oh boy! Well, in the summer of 2020 I awoke to find myself face-to-face with a bear through a partially open window while sleeping in a trailhead parking lot... so... it can happen!
@@nomad_unknown Oh wow! That's why I sleep with the windows closed! Have you ever considered setting up a trail cam pointing at your vehicle or even your tent to see if anything does come by when you sleep? I'm kicking around the idea next time I get back out there.
You were right in feeling a little leary about leaving your vehicle where a bear has been on the prowl. I worked and lived in Yosemite for a few years and was amazed at how many vehicles the bears broke into. They've bent car doors out of shape, got stuck in small cars and jumped around till all the seats were flattened, and I even saw a metal cooler's top ripped in half by a bear. They're hungry, smart and super strong. Spent a lot of time hiking in the Sierras but sadly missed the hike you presented here, into such a beautiful spot. Thanks for sharing and glad your car was fine.
So enjoying your videos. Kinda nice to have videos of backpacking and beautiful scenery this time of year. I’m getting inspired to start planning my backpacking this come season. Thanks for keeping so real. Stay safe.
This route has been on my list for a long time. I seriously need to do it first thing next season. LOVE that first tent spot on that rock, although the lakeside site looked nice and soft. What an amazing view to wake up to!
Thats a beautiful area to hike at, have been up there a few times. Glad your car was ok. Am always amazed when I see a rattle snake at such a high elevation, but have seen them a couple times at about 8,000 ft. In the Eastern Sierra's so they are for real.
Good to see you out in the wild. I have heard that bears are more brazen just before and immediately following hibernation. That snake was not happy with you at all...stay safe.
Glad the rattler gave you warning since it was sitting on the edge of the trail. I'm nervous about leaving my car at Sierra trailheads too, mostly because of human vandalism and theft. I've heard more than one report of this happening in Eastern Sierra locations.
I think your car anxiety is reasonable. Not only are your important possessions in there, but also, a bear (or something else) could damage it to the point where you are stranded. That could be a real problem in a low traffic area.
Nice trip. That look like a decent size snake. At least most of time rattlers warn you. I've step over copperhead before a didn't even see the little guy. I was lucky he was sunning himself and I didn't step on him.
Smart girl..i saw a black bear get into a convertible Saab for a pack of gum left on the seat. Same parking lot! Bear did about $1400 damage for 99cents of gum!!
Love the hike out to the lakes. The cabin is such a fresh spot to have a snack or lunch. I’m a big book nerd…do you mind sharing what book you were reading?
@@nomad_unknown I've talked to a few folks who thought The Monkey Wrench Gang moved along slowly. It kept my attention, though. My favorite line in the book is, "Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear." when Hayduke was talking to Bonnie.
This Girl Hikes Oh my gosh, silly me. That’s what I get for multi tasking as I’m watching TH-cam. 😂 You know on this note though you should write a book about your adventures. ❤️
To be continued? Cliffhanger? Nice personal journey video thru the Sierras Big Pine Lakes but why did you end it so abruptly? I guess you made it past the rattler okay or this video would not been uploaded. When you got back to your car was it the same as you left it? Disappointed that there was no ending to your story. Just being honest not hating.
Loved the still photographs
Consider yourself hugged Miss Christine💕What a gorgeous video🌟So happy you found all in order when you returned👍
Thank you so much!
You do such a wonderful job on your filming and taking us along. Such a beautiful place.
Thank you so much!
Welcome back.......missed your vids.

Awesome love that cabin. Great area, spent the night at the cabin. Thanks 4 sharing..

Hi Christine, great video! Someday I will get there to hike. I hope your doing well and finding rest and peace. 🙏❤️🎄
Enjoyed the hike and knowledge you provided. Looking forward to more adventures! 👍🙂
Such beautiful vistas! Wouldn't have expected anything less from the Sierras. Looks like an awesome trail; quiet, yet not super strenuous. Perfection!
Couldn't agree more!

Snakes have been seen up to 10K elevation. The reflection of the sun on the granite makes it toasty for them.

Gorgeous area 💟
Beautiful scenery! Scary about the bears causing damage to a car! Glad your car was okay!

I think I was still reading The Monkey Wrench Gang by Edward Abbey. I can't quite remember.

Nice video!. Very low water levels there...
Yes, I found the low water levels to be a cause of concern.
Christina.
Big Squeeze!!
Thanks Gary!
What kind of book 📕 are you writing? Beautiful video.💜💜🙏
I was reading a book... not writing :)

I get you Richard. I did end this one quite abruptly. My camera batteries went dead so I finished up filming just a bit on my phone.
:)😍😁👍
Rather black bears to meth heads any day when it comes to vehicle break ins.
🤣 True... I think...
